I'm curious to see if I'm the only Dark Tower fan around here.  They tend to be pretty rare, which saddens me because there's so much to discuss, especially with the potential of a film being made (I haven't looked up the specifics for this in a while, so I don't know if this is still happening).

You are not. (At least not anymore)I've a huge Stephen King fan ever since I was a child (my father introduced me to King's works). I enjoyed the 7 books, although I haven't had the chance to read "The wind through the keyhole." I think Warner dropped the film project, that's all I know.

Oh, wow, I didn't expect anyone to respond!

I actually haven't read "The Wind Through the Keyhole" either.  I should at some point, after I finish several other series that I'm currently reading.

And that's kind of too bad that they dropped the film project, but also kind of relieving.  I doubt that it would live up to the books, and the only person that I could see playing Roland would be a middle-aged Clint Eastwood (obviously out of the question).  I guess there are some others who might be decent, but when I picture Roland, I always see Clint Eastwood.  That might just be me though.

They could cast !Old Clint Eastwood as a Roland who's finally approaching the end of his journey for real this time around. Like he's already been through the grinder and punished enough so that when he finally he reaches the tower (again), he'll actually be able to escape the vicious cycle.

I'm a big fan of the series too. I love how Mr. King presents the gunslingers as old-timey diplomats and blends fantasy and sci-fi so seamlessly together. That, and Roland being badass always gets me going around trying to do Clint Eastwood's trademark squint.
