Just wondering how many people on this site like Highlander. Its one of my favorite shows and I know basically nobody else who watches it.

Edit: I was wondering what you guys thought would happen to the mane six if they were immortals in a "gathering" type scenario. What would happen to somepony as meek as fluttershy? Would Rainbow Dash go headhunting?

This should probably be a seperate thread but I'm too lazy to make a new one.

I've watched the first two movies, the series, and Endgame, and I'm working on downloading The Raven right now.

I'm also writing a Highlander/MLP fic.

Tell me if The Raven turns out to be at all worth watching. Also, is the second movie as bad as everyone says it is? The Highlander/MLP fic should be interesting, although it must be hard to come up with an idea for it.

The second is movie is one of those things where's it's okay on it's own(it's kinda so bad it's good), but horrible as a sequel. The Source is far worse, it gave us this horrible cover:

As for the fic, It was hard, but Crysalis happening helped alot.

I have heard legends about The Source, but at least with that you weren't expecting much since it wasn't even a theatrical release but went direct to scyfy channel.

I watched it through Spoony's review, so I'm good, he can make anything on this planet entertaining. :b I still question how Sc-Fi got production rights to such a big name franchise.

I still need to watch the anime and the animated series sometime.

Spoony's awesome. He's the one who got me into Highlander in the first place. I think Sci-Fi got production rights because theaters wouldn't take it. That's what the wikipedia entry seems to imply anyway.

I liked his reaction to the song cover in the Source review, and to the "as good as blade runner" quote on the second movie's box:b

YOU ARE MISTAKEN!! THERE IS ONLY ONE MOVIE!!! ZEIST NEVER HAPPENED!!!

You should probably add a "I prefer the movie" option.

Personally, while I do appreciate the far superior swordplay in the series, my heart will always belong to the movie, mostly because the concept is kept so simple and the ending is much more satisfying than anything we ever got for the series.

Plus, I dislike the idea of the Watchers, just rubs me the wrong way.

Zeist isn't canon anyway, the cut of the movie with the Zeist part removed is the one that's considered in continuity by the writers.

I like the show a little more because it has more mythology and content, and come on, Methos is awesome. .

Actually, Methos is another huge problem I have with the series. Considering how long he has been around and how all Immortals are drawn to each other, he should have racked up so many kills that he would be absolutely unbeatable.

That and the show ends in Endgame, which managed ruin both continuities .

Methos doesn't have more kills because he makes a point of avoiding conflict. He was so elusive that everyone thought he was just a myth until Duncan discovered him. Furthermore, power isn't based on the sheer number of kills an immortal has but the power of the immortals whose heads he's taken. Besides that Methos is still really powerful, just not the best.

And yes, Endgame sucks.

Yeah, but not killing for a couple of hundred years out of 5000+ wouldn't make much of a difference, especially considering what he and his chums used to do.

He wasn't killing immortals though, he was killing regular people. Either way, after a few hundred years he must be out of practice.

Methos IS powerful, Every fight he's been in is a curb-stomp beatdown, he's even shown he can stand up to Duncan. He just prefers not to show it off.

Actually, he admits that Duncan is stronger than him several times, and Duncan does beat him in a fight once. Of course not being as strong as Duncan isn't saying much since nobody can take Duncan in a fair fight. (Or an unfair fight for that matter) Also it was implied that he couldn't have beaten Kalas, but I guess we'll never know for sure. Oh! and when he was fighting Sylus it was pretty even, as I recall.

Slylas is one of the few immortals his age left, he's at least 3,000 years old.

Duncan did beat him, but the two times they spared it was pretty even.

Regardless, Methos is awesome. A lot of the supporting characters were, especially Joe Dawson. When he saved Richie from evil Duncan, it was, in my opinion, one of the best scenes of the entire series. Speaking of which, Richie was also a great character, I really came to like him throughout the course of the series.

I with is would've been Joe and Methos that got their own show, the episode where they worked together to save that girl was awesome.

Believe it or not, the movie is what got me hooked on the Highlander franchise.
And not because of Sir Sean Connery or anything, oh no.

So, yes, I am a fan of the series and movie.

Well, this thread was nice while it lasted. Honestly I'm surprised even five people responded. That's at least three more than I've met in real life who watch highlander. So, yeah, I consider just making it onto a second page to be a tremendous victory for this thread.

Why did I just let this conversation die instead of responding to you? Oh well, better late than never, I suppose.

Yes, that would have been awesome. It certainly would have been better than The Raven, if what I've heard is true. I haven't actually seen The Raven though, because apparently it's so bad that there's not even anywhere on the internet that I can watch it. Which is saying something considering all the crap that's on the internet.

I've got it over here(still haven't got it watched), but the torrent I downloaded it from was so ill-maintained it took it took like like 12+ hours to download it(and it was only 6GB), and it was the only download I could find of it, which says something, because the owner company uploaded the entire first series to youtube for free viewing, but didn't even give the Raven that much daylight.

Well, in that case if you ever get around to watching it, tell me if it's really as bad as everyone says. It can't be worse than the later movies... right? Because that possibility is scary to even think about.

While we're threadomancing, I recently watched the Highlander anime movie.

Bad dialog, meh-ish design and stupid story.

So yeah second best out of all the movies
