How exactly do you think Rainbow dash and Fluttershy met? And when?

I had this question come to mind a while ago, but it just recently popped into my mind while thinking about the upcoming episode.

When exactly did Fluttershy and Rainbow dash become friends? And how?

Where Rainbow dash and Fluttershy actually friends with each other when she was protecting Fluttershy? Or was she simply sticking up against the bullys because she was bullied by them to?

I may be over thinking this, but I think its actually possible they might have not even been friends before this.

 

Besides, even if they where friends. How does a Free spirit like Rainbow dash end up Friends with a shy weak flyer like Fluttershy?

 

So how do you think it happened? And when?(Not specificly when, but like Before or after the flashback in Cutie mark chronicles.)

 

Well i want to know what Y'all think, I was just thinking about it speculating about random things and it came up. So I though it would be cool to hear what y'all think of this.

From what I know it was just when they were in Cloudsdale. From Season 1 (Ep 1- Dragon Shy) Rainbowdash is extremely short with Fluttershy. So it can only be assumed that SINCE Cloudsdale the two of them were only on "hello" terms. Rarely talking, or when they do it's just mainly to speak slightly. And that's just going off of the basis from Season 1 before Dragonshy. As for if they were friends in Cloudsdale, I think Rainbowdash was just defending her out of pity, and or just because she didn't like the bullies. As for the contrasting friendship--I think just for show purposes that's why they're "Friends" but it's the fact that Twilight Sparkle brought them all together, and the whole Dragonshy episode--it shows that Fluttershy has many layers to her personality. 

Otherwise--as I've said. They probably were merely acquaintances by the time Twilight Sparkle came around--hardly "Friends" and I don't think that they would be called that until the Dragonshy episode.

Maybe their opposite personalities was what forced them to bond in the first place? Fluttershy being so shy of course, and Rainbow being a tom boy, they could've both been outcasts from the rest of the fillies their age. Rainbow probably had acted as a protector from bullies to Fluttershy in the past, and as a result she may have looked up to her as a big sister or something.

 

And from the sounds of the bullies, Rainbow "Crash" may not have been the strongest flier ever in her youth. The two of them could've been the weakest fliers in their class and bonded there.

Yeah I think that alot of the mane 6 might've not been super best friends with each other before twilight came along. I think Twilight pulled them all together more. Who knows for sure though.(Pinkie being pinkie was already probably friends with everyone anyways, but maybe not all the others.)

That's a good possible motive. I mean Rainbow dash even got kicked out of flight school and Fluttershy basically just left.

I dunno, I mean Rainbow dash seemed pretty confident if she was a weak flier. And she was doing pretty well keeping up with the bullies in the race, and she didn't back down at all. Plus after doing the sonic rainboom she totally smoked them, so I don't think she was that weak of a flier.

 

Maybe she just had an accident one time and crashed into something important or something along those lines? I think its probably one of those things that you get mocked for after, but its not like you have it happen all the time.(You get what I mean?) Just a nickname from an embarrassing time that happened, not necessarily meaning it ever happened again though.

Another thing that I have to wonder about, if Fluttershy and Rainbow dash where just becoming friends when Rainbow dash came to help, then how did Rainbow dash even find Fluttershy if she fell to the ground? Where the Pegasi in Flight camp allowed to leave?

 

I think though its safe to say that atleast Pinkie pie knew everypony. Shes Pinkie afterall. .

Yeah I agree, I mean they didn't particularly say anything to each other.(I don't even remember her saying Fluttershys name ever) and she didn't even save her when she fell.(Of course thats probably because of the race.

And again I wonder if she found Fluttershy after she won the race. Or if they just met later on.

All of the relationships between the mane 6(or 5) are a bit cloudy before they met Twilight.

 

However since they said that they had been friends before they even knew it at the end of the episode, that kinda implies that they may have not known each other. Besides you'd think that her friends would've heard the story from rainbow dash after she had preformed the sonic rainboom if they knew each other well. Since they didn't seem familer with the story that makes me think they where not all close friends at that time.

Well I don't know if he originally intended to race, but i'm sure he was happy to accept.

However I don't know if they would've lived in the same place after that. Maybe after Rainbow dash got kicked out, but we don't know when that occurred. Because after the race I assume Rainbow dash still lived in Cloudsdale, but Fluttershy lived on the ground with the animals.

 

I also wonder how come the 5 of them were the ones to come to twilight, especially if they weren't friends.

Maybe they just were hanging out because of the fact they were all in charge of the summer sun festival preparations.
