~asdf~ 110 January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 I'm pretty sure that this community is actually one of the more tolerating in the brony community. I very seldom see hate come out of here for any reason, and everypony does there best not to offend anypony else. I agree although I've only been on this forum since last night but with alot of forums troll stand out and I haven't seen any here yet unless there good at hiding
Arylett Charnoa 4,919 January 19, 2012 Share January 19, 2012 It's the internet. Many bronies are teenagers/young. This happens in every fandom. The vocal minority. And it happens because of the two reasons I've listed. Teenagers/young people are immature, and when given a medium like the internet... well, they start making asses of themselves. Since bronies are based mainly in the internet, you're gonna get a LOT of idiots. It's sad, but it's true. The anonymity makes people start acting like asses in many cases because they just don't care. And also because they get overly emotional (being young/teenagers who can't really control their emotions as well as adults can) and overreact over people hating them. Just ignore them. It means nothing. Aether Velvet is the name of the OC in my avatar. Drawn by me. Deviantart
Stoner Spike 185 January 19, 2012 Share January 19, 2012 It's because the fandom has some people who take it too far. Instead of just ignoring the haters or something, they decide to force them to either be quiet on the matter or force the whole thing on them. Even so, there's always the few who nearly practice things as a religion. It's a select few that are "losing it". We just can't let them spoil the rest of us. After all, if they try, we can always love and tolerate them. Yo Applejack... Y'alright?
Kipje 7 January 19, 2012 Share January 19, 2012 (edited) Teenagers/young people are immature [...] (being young/teenagers who can't really control their emotions as well as adults can) Age doesn't say everything, someone that is 13 can have the mind setting of a 20 year old and someone that is 20 can act like a child. Yes, I know. I was just generalizing. Many are. Not all of them are. But the hormones and stuff get in their heads sometimes and make them lose better judgement. Also, 20 year olds can be even more immature sometimes. I did say teens/young people. Aether Velvet is the name of the OC in my avatar. Drawn by me. Kodiak 431 January 19, 2012 Author Share January 19, 2012 so... cuz someone acted that way... that means you, me, and all other bronies act that way? Not necessarily. I was saying how I see things like this happening in the fandom at large, not just a small section of it. Robert3186 45 January 19, 2012 Share January 19, 2012 The Brony community hasn't lost its way, there are just a few 'bad eggs' out there that unfortunately create a name for themselves and diminish the values of our community. People have mentioned often in the past that the way to deal with these people are to ban them (or otherwise), but this creates another bad image for the community, that's why ignoring these people is the simplest remedy. Then there are those that see being a Brony as a statement of their personality or that they're fashionable; "I watch mlp, therefore I'm different". Yet these people may not actually care about our values and so don't represent the greater proportion of us that deeply believe in the love and tolerance we so often talk about. The anonymity makes people start acting like asses in many cases because they just don't care. This is a good point, I'm fairly certain that a lot of people who slander bronies online wouldn't consider doing it in person. It's because there is no means of being 'punished' online, you can say whatever you want and get away with it. Without seeing the reaction of the person in front of you, it becomes too easy to be an immoral vindictive individual.
