"So you think this year is going to work?" The Unicorn asked, approaching The Pegasus.

"Of course," she replied. "It's worked perfectly fine the rest of the time. Why would that change now?"

The Unicorn shifted her weight from hoof to hoof. "I don't know. I'm just worried."

The Pegasus laughed. "Oh, Twilight. You worry too much."

"Ten years." thought Buff Helmit as he flew to the university, "Ten years since that day. The day my life changed forever."

 

Buff tried not to think about his parents' death. It was his first day of school and he planed on making this year memorable.

 

"why do I have the feeling that I'll see the inside of the principal's office more than once"

 

he decided to sprint to class, even though there was no need to. Then, just when he was about to leave his dorm, he ran into a pony with red and black mane with a matching tail and a dark gray body with no cutie mark.

 

Frustrated, he yells at the colt.

 

"Hey, blank flank! Watch where you are going! Some of us have a class to go to."

Moonbeam walked through the halls in a drowsy daze, still wiping the sleep from her eyes. She was not paying much attention to the world around her, occupied with thoughts about how her first day of classes would be. She was nervous because the only one she knew from the school was Firecracker, and she had not seen him yet. She was suddenly scared back to reality by a loud yell. She jumped in fear, and then she looked to the source of the noise, which seemed to be a yellow pegasus with a brown mane.  He was apparently angry about something. Moonbeam backed away slowly towards her first classroom. She'd have to remember to be careful around this pegasus.

Firecracker was trotting in the hallways, trying to find his first class when suddenly, some yellow pegasus made a yell so loud, It almost made Firecracker jump. Apparently  the pegasus was yelling a colt grey with a blank flank, for no reason. But he decided to not get involved with him. Suddenly, he saw Moonbeam, his marefriend who he met on the Romantic cruise incident.

Out of the corner of her eye, Moonbeam noticed Firecracker walking in her direction. She trotted up to him and smiled sheepishly, getting close to him, almost for protection. "Hi, Firecracker. So far ponies here don't seem too friendly. I'm kind of nervous. How are you today? What class do you have next?"

"Next time watch where you are going!"

Buff, after snorting in the direction of the colt, walked towards his Class room. "Just let it go, Buff." thought the yellow pegasus, "There is no need to be sent to the principle's office before school even starts. Especially on the first day."

"Yea, I just got here, but I'm pretty sure there's going to ponies just like us as well. I do feel kinda nervous too and I have my language class first." Firecracker said with a somewhat comforting voice.  "I do hope the education here is going to be worth the while..."

"Of course it will be, Firecracker! Anyway, I have foreign language first as well.  I don't think we have much time before class starts so we better get going." She began walking off in the direction which she thought the classroom may be, turning around and motioning for Firecracker to follow. "I'm still not quite sure where exactly the classroom is? Do you?" she asked.

Aarod walked up to the school yards looking around. He still wondered why he had come to this school, he wasn't ever going to need it in his mind, but here he was, at the school, and he had plans to at least try to have fun. As he walked in he noticed most of the ponies were rushing to get to class or something of that sort, but he had no idea what his first class might be or where it might be at. After a few moments of looking around, he started to walk around the halls, not going anywhere.

"Yea, I think according to this campus map on the wall, I think it's supposed to be three doors to the right." Firecracker informed. He knew he didn't want to be late and Moonbeam gestured him to hurry along, so he galloped his speed a little bit. But not too fast or else he would end up like that guy he saw earlier.

Red felt a tinge of excitement as he trotted through the halls.  This would be extremely fun, music was everything and he planned to show it.  He spotted a student wandering through the halls not really getting anywhere, he looked a bit lost.  Red trotted up to him and tapped him on the shoulder and said politely, "Want some help?"

When they reached the classroom, Moonbeam sat down nervously in her desk next to Firecracker, wondering what class would be like and what kind of ponies she' d meet here. She reached out to hold hooves with Firecracker for comfort. Hopefully things wouldn't be as crazy as out in the hall. She tried to make conversation to break the awkward silence.

 

"So, Firecracker, I wonder what the teacher will be like. What do you think?"

Red nodded and smiled at the new student, "Completely understandable," he said compassionately, "Do you have a print out of your schedule with you right now?  That would be the first step of finding where to go."  Red could really sympathize with this guy, he remembered that feeling from being new himself.

"Um let me find out." he removed the bag he was carrying around and set it on the floor opening it and shifting though the loose papers. "Is this it I think." He said, removing a crumpled of piece of paper and unfolding it. "Let's see here, this tells me the classes I am in if that helps. We have, Theatre, Wrestling, Hoofball, Foreign Language, and Law."

Red took levitated the note from him and took a look, "ah okay, Theatre is over in the same building as the orchestra, wrestling and hoofball are in the building across from there, then FL and Law will be in the other one."  Red levitated the note back to Aarod, "Let one of the other teachers know if you get lost again okay?  By the way what was your name?"

After realizing that Buff was going the wrong way to the class room, he decided to sprint to his first class, not by his own chose this time.

 

After going fast enough, he could have sworn he almost saw the room he was needing to be in when he completely crashed into a tall, skinny colt with a red coat, a red/orange striped mane, green eyes, and no cutie mark.

 

"I'm getting really tired of this!" yelled a very angry and frustrated Buff. "Next time watch where you are going, blank flank!"

Red offered a hoof to help the other student up, "You alright there?"  The pony looked like he wasn't in a terribly pleasant mood.....ever......

Red kept his friendly face and gave the guy a warning, "You should know that our school won't tolerate derogatory terms like that sir, especially towards a teacher.  Now, are you lost as well or do you know where you're going?"

Buffs face turned into the best shade of white imaginable. "Oh, s-sorry about yelling, sir," Buff said excepting the hoof of help, "I didn't know you worked here. You look so young. Anyway, it already happed before, so I'm not so glad it happened again. If you can help though, I'm looking for the Chemistry lab."

Red helped him up, "No worries, my name's Red, lab's right behind me.  Try not to run next time, get a map from the main office and plan your route in advance.  Then you'll get there on time, trust me."  He gave a friendly wink to Buff with those last words.  "Hope you don't use that term on a regular basis.....do you?"

"N-no, sir I only use the term when I get horribly angry" said a terribly scared Buff. He quickly shuffled to the classroom he was told to be. "Man, I hope I don't see him again. That would be nightmare-ish!" Thought Buff he would be scared out of his mind if he had him as a teacher.

Red nodded and watched Buff scamper off to his room.  He seemed suddenly afraid of Red once he knew he was a teacher.  Red hoped it was simply a fear of consequence for screaming at a teacher, not just a fear of a teacher.  He shrugged to himself and then trotted off towards the Fine Arts building.

     It has been a while, but they had finally got to their first class. Firecracker then suddenly sat to the seat somewhere behind the front row, and then Moonbeam went to sit right beside him. She then started to hold out her hoof which Firecracker immediately noticed and he held it. When Moonbeam asked him the question,"I dunno, as long as the teacher isn't strict, I'd be okay with him or her." he responded. Then a couple of ponies started to accompany the seats.

The bell rang, and all the ponies scrambled to make it to their seats. As they sat down, music started playing from a boom box sitting on the desk at the front of the room. A most extravagant pony burst into the room. She had a white mane and tail, and was wearing highly reflective pink goggles.

"Hello," she said in a heavy accent you couldn't quite place. "I am Photo Finish. I vill be your language instructor for ze next year. And you," she barked at a late pony galloping in. "are late." mumbling an appology, he sat at the back of the room, where Photo Finish stared at him for a few moments before turning to the class. "Your first azzingment is to read the introduction to your Germane textbooks. You go!" And the class began.

Moonbeam took out her textbook and read the title. "'Deutschlehrerbuch.' I wonder what that means," she thought. She opened the book to the introduction and began reading about why one should learn the German language. Then, the book introduced the first lesson, greetings. She turned to Firecracker and said, "Guten Morgen, Firecracker," with a little giggle.
