open Aiicornia: The City of Everfree

Mortimer put the cage back in the floor in front of him, he then turned around and told Desertrose "Thats's ok, he is affraid of very high heights. Enjoy your flight, i guess..." Mortimer said. He then turned back and started to sleep, he dreamed of his new life, but the turbulence of the flight woke him up. "Drats!" he thought.

Melbourne had anticipated a quicker departure, by the time the blimps had taken off he had already finished his novel. "So much for minimal social interaction." He thought to himself. Melbourne knew the minute he put his book down one of the other ponies would insist on small talking, at least if he initiated the friendly banter he could control the topic of the conversation.

Melbourne shuffled over so as to be facing the one with the odd way of talking (Daffodil).

 

"Good afternoon madame, 'twould seem we are to be confined to this blimp for some time, would be a shame if we did not use this time wisely. Perhaps getting to know each other would be suitable? Oh but where are my manners, my name is Atticus M. Melbourne the Third, but please call me Melbourne."

Daffodil relaxed her grip on Ashwings shoulder, she had just realized how hard she had been grabbing him. She sat awkwardly in her seat for a second, and was about to ask Ashwing something, when she saw a stallion she didn't recognize walking up to her. He introduced himself. "Oh, hi there! My name i2 Daffodil, and, um, yeah2ure, you can hang out with me and A2hwing!" Daffodil smiled at him. "Oh, thi2 i2 A2hwing." Daffodil said gesturing towards Ashwing with her hoof.

 

 

Desertrose noticed Mortimer fall asleep. She decided she should get some rest to. She first put Merp on the rack above her head along with her cactus. Then she curled up in her seat and fell asleep She slept peacefully for a while, dreaming about new exciting plants. A little later some turbulence woke her up. She looked around disoriented, but she soon remembered where she was and fell back asleep.

Ashwing was a little awkwarded by the hard grab she made then the stallion came along ¨well i have no problem with someone hanging around it would just be boring with just two in one hehe if you get what i mean¨ Ashwing slightly laughed at the thought of it ¨but anyways i wonder how my new house will be. Who else here want their house to be good?¨ he asked the mysterious stallion he ignored name of and daffodil.

 

Terraspin was bored as... Bored he get so he decided to make fire loops not harming anyone.

"This has to be the worst flight i've ever had!" Mortimer exclaimed out loud. Then he remembered there were also a couple of people in the blimp, along with the driver. His cheeks became red.

"Mental note, i have to STOP thinking out loud, it may get me into trouble some day." he thought.

Mortimer then stood and started to stretch, that position had ruined his bones.

Daffodil blushed a bit at the suggestive joke. She giggled along with it though. She heard Ashwing ask the two of them if they were excited about their new houses. "Oh my go2h yes! I am 2o excited!! The builder2 2aid they put in a 2uper nice aviary and green hou2e combo! I can't wait to 2ee the new bird2 and plant2!" Daffodil grinned happily. "2o, did anyone el2e a2k for a pool in their hou2e? I got one in my backyard!"

 

Desertrose squeaked quietly in her sleep and rolled over.

 

(OOC: I drew the necklace Ashwing gave Daf, I don't have amazing skill, but you can get an ok idea of the necklace.    )

Melbourne smiled and nodded at Ashwing.

"Greetings sir, in answer to your question. I don't really care how my house looks. I hardly plan on being inside of it very much. You see I'm a lawyer and detective, in fact the reason I decided to come out here was purely for the sake of bringing justice to the frontier. But if I may indulge I certainly would not mind brown coloured things. 'Tis a calming colour, would you not agree?"

Melbourne shifted his gaze back to Daffodil.

"Now madame, I must ask. Oh and don't be shy to say if I'm intruding on your privacy here. But why in Equestria would a young pony like you wish to move to the edge of civilization? I can guarantee danger is assured out there."

Daffodil smiled. "Well, I have two rea2on2 for moving, one i2 I ju2t LOVE di2covering new 2pecie2, and back in ponyville by my hou2e, I had been finding le22 and le22 new 2pecie2 every month. 2o, when I heard about thi2 trip, I a22umed I would probably have plenty of new bird2 to di2cover. And the 2econd rea2on i2, well, A2h i2 going, and he'2 my, clo2e, friend, and, um, I would mi22 him, a lot." Daffdil started to blush slightly. "Um, anyway2, I really don't mind the po22ability of danger, I explored the Everfree Fore2t path2 near my hou2e all the time, I have a pretty good idea how to fight if need be." She grinned. "2o, what type2 of ca2e2 have you taken on before? If that2 cla22ified information I under2tand. I wa2 ju2t wondering becau2e I have alway2 had a bit of intre2t in the law 2y2tem."

Melbourne face lit up, people rarely take interest in his job.

"Oh my where to begin, you see I was a prosecutor, 'twas my job to convict criminals of what ever crime they had committed. Most cases I worked with were small time, however I have worked on some bigger cases. I believe the biggest conviction I got was banishment on the grounds of high treason, but that was some years ago. As for my detective work, well that's not really that interesting."

Mortimer sat down. He was really bored. That stupid blimp kept moving and shaking and he couldnt conciliate his dream.

He then grabbed a paperball and began to shape-shift it.

He first turned it into a cake, then into a cupcake, then into a parasprite and then into a plant. "Meh, Desertrose might like this plant." Mortimer murmured to Shadow. He slowly walked to the sleepy mare and dropped the plant next to his seat and then teleported himself back to his own seat to avoid making noice.

Daffodil's eyes widened a bit. "Bani2hment? I didn't even know that you could get bani2hed! Where do they get bani2hed to? The Everfree Forest? Or 2omewhere el2e?" Daffodil asked Mel curiously.

 

Desertrose opened one of her eyes sleepily. She could have sworn she heard somepony walking, wait, where did that come from? She sat up and looked at the plant curiously. She wondered where it could have come from. She picked it up and examined it. It apeared to be a young Adenium obesum, also known as desert rose. She smiled to herself, she just loved Adenium obesum trees, they look really odd, but she was glad to have one, as she had to leave her other one at home due to it's large size. She looked over at Mor, he smiled at her. Desertrose guessed he had given her the plant. She smiled back shyly and waved.

After the other pony failed to respond, River laughed awkwardly once more and started walking sinfully to his seat.

'Geez, what is with that unicorn, I mean how rude can you be...' he thought while walking back. He reached his seat soon after, he sat down.

A blank moment passed in his mind. Then he started to think, when will he even come back? What if he doesn't? What if he never sees Shelly again ever?

'Oh wait a sec, I can just fly between cities... I think...' he figured it should work out, but he was not sure. Then other thoughts started to pop up.

'What if I don't like it there? What if I get home-sick? What if I won't be able to do what I hope to there? What if this isn't what I want after all? What if...'  his thoughts suddenly paused. He looked up to the low ceiling, he looked down on the floorboard, he looked left, he looked right, he looked everywhere all at once, spinning his head over and around and up and down and then, he thought of something, something that hasn't occurred to him until that moment.

'What if... no one will ever know what I do in there...' 

He smiled deviously.

Mortimer waved back to Desertrose and smiled to her, he was happy he made someone smile, at last! He walked to Desertrose and sat besides her. "It's nice that you liked my present" Mortimer said shily, "You've been my neighbor for like years, and i've never said "hi!" to you or anything, and i think this is a nice start to introduce us." He then started smile.

Daffodil looked over Mel's shoulder to see somepony smiling to himself. She looked back at Ashwing and Mel. "Um, guys, do you think we shuld maybe, include that guy in our conversation, he looks a bit lonely." she said worredly. She didn't want anypony to have to be bored and lonely on this trip. Plus they were going to live in the same town soon anyways so they might as well make friends.

 

 

Desertrose looked up at Mortimer happily, Yay! A friend! She thought happily. She smiled at him. "I loved your present! Did you know desert roses are one of my favorite plants?" Desertrose wondered how he knew, guessed he may have seen the tree in her front yard before, or he could have just randomly summoned a random plant, either way she was already quite fond of the little plant. She heard Mor talking about how he never talked to her when they were neighbors in Pony Ville. "Yeah, I didn't talk to many people when we were in Pony Ville, but since I left my only pony friend back in Pony Ville, I decided I should make a new friend, and, well, I am really grateful for you helping me with that dragon, so, well, you seemed like a good choice for a friend." Desertrose realized she had been rambling. She smiled and put her hoof behind her head awkwardly.

 

(OOC: Yes, I do wish for Daf and Desert to not be aware of each other's presence on the trip yet. You will see why I am doing this later.  *Mysterious face* )

Mortimer nervously smiled at the situation. "W-Well, you see, i saw that tree in front of your house but i really didn't have any intention in summoning that, it was a real coincidence, i had forgotten about the tree." Mortimer looked down for a second, he was trying to avoid looking to stupid, he had never talked to mare like this. "Well, um, i, um think we can be f-friends in Aiicornia, i will be a little busy trying to protect it but maybe we can hang out and go for a walk or something". He then started to sweat.

"You are a true idiot aren't you" he thought.

"N-no, why are you asking that?"

"You can't just invite a mare you have just met and whom you didn't even care about waving "Goodbye" to her in Ponyville. If she agrees to befriend you, i promise not to laugh again."

As his mental fight over what he did was happening, he started to grin, to put serious faces and he looked like a complete crazy.

He had even forgotten Desertrose was besides him.

He quickly got up and ran back to his seat.

"You amaze me sometimes you know" he thought.

Desertrose saw the expressions on Mor's face changing back and forth, and instantly recognzed what was happening. Mor seemed to have a slight split personality disorder. She herself had it a bit ago. He seemed to be growing more upset. Desertrose was about to try and comfort him when he got up and ran back to his seat. He seemed really upset. Desertrose's heart ached for him, she remembered how it felt to have vicious arguments with yourself. Desertrose trotted over to Mor. "Mor? What's wrong?" She asked worriedly.

(OOC: NO NO NO! NO PERSONALITY DISORDER FOR CELESTIA'S SAKE! Can't a reasonable part of Mortimer's mind argue with the other, less reasonable?!).

 

"Nothing Desertrose, it's just that i was nervous, QUITE nervous, i've never been this nice to a mare, and to be honest, i didn't thought it would feel this good." He looked at Desertrose and smiled at her, then he got up from his seat and walked up to the window, he could already see Aiicornia, but it was still a small view of the place.

(OOC: AAAhhhh! Chill out! That is what I ment by slight! I just ment he was arguing in his head, nothing more!   )

 

Desertrose blushed, and followed him to the window. "Oh look! I can see it!!" She squeaked happily. Just then an anouncement came on. "Hi passengers! We are going to be landin' in about an hour! If ya look out your window, you can see the city!" The pilot from earlier continued blabing on about useless stuff for another 5 minutes before finally quieting down. Desertrose had pressed her face against the glass, slightly squishing her nose. "I wonder if we will be able to tell which is our house from here." She murmured.

 

Daffodil was about to ask her question about the stallion again, when the intercom came on. "Hello mares and gentlecolts, we will be arriving in Aiicornia in approximately an hour. For your veiwing pleasure, if you glance out your window to the south-west, you csn see Aiicornia." Daffodil looked out the window in the direction the pilot had said, and she indeed saw it. "Guy2 Guy2!! I can 2ee Aiicornia! Look! Look!" Daffodil was squealing and jumping up and down.

Mortimer looked at Desertrose and told her: "That house, the big one with the garden and the pool is mine." He continued to adore the landscape and gazing at the beautiful city. "I guess yours is that looks completely green, right?".

(OOC: Yeah I was not wanting the side persona thing, I was just thinking he would have slight confidence issues that caused him to have a mean voice in his head, like Desert did, or if you don't like that idea, that is ok, I'm no trying to force you to do anything with Mor you don't want to do)

 

Desertrose squeaked excitedly. "Oh my gosh! I see mine! Look! It has a sandy place in the back for my cacti! And look at the size of my green house!" Desertrose was super excited. She trotted back to her seat, and brought Merp to see to. "See Merp! We're gonna live there!" Merp swam in a square. "I know right!" Desertrose noticed Mor looking at her, she blushed embarrased. "Oh, uh, sorry, I um, I like talking to Merp, he sort of, talks back and, um... Anyway, what types of plants are in your garden?" Desertrose said flustered. Agh why am I so nervous all of the sudden, and why is my heart beating so fast? What am I feeling??? Desertrose grinned awkwardly hoping Mor wouldn't be weirded out.

"Well, um, i have evergreens and, um, s-some cacti." Mortimer then noticed Desertrose was really nervous.

"Are you okay? Did i something wrong? You look really, um, nervous."

"You just can't do anything right, can you?" his mean side tokd him.

Desertrose squeaked shyly. "No, I'm not nervous, and you definately didn't do anything wrong, I, I just don't feel well, I think I'm tired or something..." She layed her head on his shoulder, then she picked her head back up. "Oh, s-sorry, I for got to ask first, um, can I lay my head on you?" She asked quietly.

"Y-Y-yes you can, um go ahead, literally." he said blushing. "With that pun, your limits of stupidity have arosen sky high." he thought. Desertrose then layed her head on Mortimer's shoulder once again. "You have to be one of the sweetest ponies i've ever met." he said as his cheeks turned bright red.

Melbourne gazed off into the distance, the view of the city hardly interested him.

"Banishment, yes well things were different back then. Lets say that I wasn't always a lawyer. Needless to say that I've done many things in the pursuit of justice for all. I have my doubts of course."

Melbourne looked directly at Daffodil.

"But when I gaze upon young ponies like you it fills me with a sense of pride that what I'm doing is building a future free of crime. Everything I do I do for ponies like you."

 

Melbourne glanced over his shoulder and inspected the other occupant, he seemed odd. But harmless enough.

 

"You there squire, care to tell us about yourself? If we are to live within close proximity surely we must become acquainted with one another ?"

Desertrose blushed. "W-why thanks, you're very sweet to!" She said shyly. She was trying not to show how nervous she was, she had finally figured out which emotion she had been feeling, love. She couldn't believe it, she had never liked anypony before, she had no clue what to do! Just then the pilot made another anouncement. "Ok! About twenty minutes until we land!"

 

Daffodil smiled at Mel. "Well, I'm glad you enjoy your job! I have always thought people succeed best in jobs they enjoy." She saw Mel glance over and start to talk to Ashwing. She decided to let the stallions talk while she went to go get Sayble and Scraet, if her caclulations were right, they had about 20 minutes until they landed.

(OOC: The blimps will (hopefully) land tomorrow!)
