He turned around hastily, and caught her gaze "I...I...no...I" he felt his heart rate rise, his coat hair on end and his eyes glazed white. "I...i'm sorry...it...it wasn't me, it's...it's not my fault" he stammered, shrinking down and backing away. "I c-c-can't..." he felt a tear run down his cheek, and he turned his head to one side to hide it.

Eve rounded a corner and very nearly collided with Creeping Dusk. "What's going on?" She asked, not entirely happily. "The hedges are completely hysterical. Something about a threat to burn them?" Her tone was unlike its usual quiet, timid self; on the contrary, the still quiet voice had acquired a cold and deadly tone. As had the glare she gave Dusk, under which even a mighty pony would perhaps quail.

Nightfall came up, feeling much more clean.

"Thanks," he said aloud, half-in-thought. The fish seemed happy and swam around, just about talking to each other.

"I wonder where Evergreen went... She said she'd be here eventually?.."

He sat there, treading water as the fish swam around him.

Leaf Orange had heard screams coming from somewhere. From his sense of direction, it is coming from the maze he saw. Suddenly, he saw Evergreen go through the path to get to the maze. "If you don't mind, can we investigate where the noise's coming from for a moment?" he said and prepared to open his wings.

"I don't know, I have a bad feeling about that maze." Silver shuddered, "what if we lose each other in there? I don't want that feeling again Leaf, I don't know if I can make it." She looked at Leaf "but, if you need me, ill come along, just promise that no matter what happens, you won't leave me."

"Okay, I promise I won't leave you, I'll be back in a couple of moments. Just don't get lost." he said. Leaf then went up into the sky and into the bird's eye view of the garden, he then quickly flew over to the twisted maze to find Dusk, Rain and Evergreen currently in the maze. He decided to not cheat so he landed near the entrance and entered.

Silver watched Leaf go, she was alone. She laid in the flowers letting them surround her. Suddenly a little bird flew down and landed next to her and sang a beautiful melody, Silver hummed along, and almost fell asleep in the field of flowers waiting for Leaf to return. "He told me to not get lost, but I wonder if he needs me"

Oh geez, this does not sound good. Evergreen must not be happy, since the whole garden is like another crowd of ponies and woodland critters. I just hope the plants don't grow thorns and try to bludgeon us for that outburst or anything... Star Rain thought when she heard the angry voices on the other side.

 Evergreen continued to glare at the stallion stonily. After several moments of this, she stomped her hoof on the ground, and the hedges blocking Star rain in literally sank into the ground. Without a word, Evergreen prowled away from the pair of them, passing Leaf Orange on her way out, still holding her silence.

Dusk whimpered in the corner he'd backed into for a second, when he noticed the mare pass him, he jumped up and bolted out of the maze, round the corner and... and... and anywhere he saw first. He didn't care right now. He'd made a foal of himself early on in the party, and drawn attention to himself again now. He was embarrassed and frightened, and there was nothing he was thinking about other than getting away from everypony. After a while of running, he found himself back at the flower field where he had first confessed his feelings for Star. He began to slowly slink around, not wholly sure what he was going to do. "It's alright, it's not your fault" shadow growled at him. "I know it's not! It's YOURS!" Dusk hissed back. "I was just looking out for - just leave me alone!You've done enough." Upon this argument with himself, he flopped to the floor and started crying quietly. "Just leave me alone..."

Leaf greeted Evergreen just as she left the maze, then decided to go in the direction that she came out of. He started to walk in that direction; When he heard whispering and then whimpering close by him. Leaf then went the direction the noises are coming from and...

He then went out of the maze, not knowing where he was until he saw Dusk. "Strange, I thought your coat was brighter... and I thought you sounded a bit higher pitched..." he informed as he's approaching Dusk. "Nope, don't see anything strange at all... I guess your fine." he said not taking his alter-ego seriously. He then went up into the sky and returned to Silver Sun who's still in the meadow.

Having no other choice, Star Rain chose a place that Dusk has most likely fled to and teleported there. She was back at the flower fields. It now held a very special memory to her now, which explained why she was able to teleport there so easily now. She spotted that familiar, shade-changing coat. But the unfamiliar voice she heard made her think that Dusk wasn't alone.

He was about to lie back down again, when he saw that familiar cyan flash. His ears perked up "oh no..." he panicked, a very withdrawn tone to his voice. 

"She came looking for you, she must be genuine at least" At the thought of this, another tear ran down Dusks face, not sadness but relief. His ears drooped down, and his posture shrunk again, he kind of hoped Star hadn't seen him, but part of him knew she had. He didn't make any moves towards her, he didn't even look in her direction, he just...waited. 

"Not gonna get you anywhere Dusk"

Silver gathered her courage. "I have to help them" she opened her wings and flew to the maze. She saw Leafs tracks and flew to the entrance. "Oh dear, maybe I shouldn't do this" Silver stood there waiting for another brush of courage but then he maze forced her inside and closed in around her.

Star Rain was tense, sensing something hostile and shrouded in darkness. Not the darkness that comes every night, but darkness as in a dark side that pretty much everypony has. She has even heard stories of ponies who had a counterpart that was a manifestation of their dark sides. Moving very quietly, she moved silently toward Dusk.

He turned around to face Star, to see she was already on her way over. He lowered his head and his ears, looking up at her apologetically. He didn't say anything however, either through fear of her reaction, or fear of his. He wasn't quite sure which.

Somber decided to sit down with Scamps on a nearby bench, their tails intertwined, as he nuzzles her neck. "You're the perfect match for me..."

Evergreen was still slightly fuming as she passed into the Amblezon Pool area. Irritated, she was. She noticed Nightfall floating in the pool, evidently enjoying himself. She took a deep, calming breath, and climbed up the cliff next to the pool. She doubted that he had noticed her. That is, until she jumped into the pool from on top of the cliff, splashing him.

Evergreen was still slightly fuming as she passed into the Amblezon Pool area. Irritated, she was. She noticed Nightfall floating in the pool, evidently enjoying himself. She took a deep, calming breath, and climbed up the cliff next to the pool. She doubted that he had noticed her. That is, until she jumped into the pool from on top of the cliff, splashing him.

"What the- Gah!"

Nightfall didn't have time to shield himself from the splash Evergreen made when she jumped into the pool. After he got over the surprise, he couldn't stop himself from laughing.

"Evergreen!" He yelled playfully, splashing her lightly.

He laughed with her. He smiled and looked at her then, noticing the water having the effect of making her coat slowly more pale gold and her mane a darker forest green.

"Wow... you know- you know how in the maze I said you looked pretty..? You look- even better now..."

He blushed.

Leaf had got back to the Meadows when he realized that Silver disappeared. "I think she went looking for me in that maze to investigate that noise..." he thought. Leaf then flew back to the entrance, trying not to cheat by flying to the exit.

((It can be assumed that the maze grew a roof as well, and opened up in another place. It doesn't like it when pegasi try to cheat. OR unicorns, for that matter. It has a similar effect to the anti-teleport spell that Sombra's cage had on it. Of course, though, maybe it'll let you out if you ask nicely... But nopony ever thinks of that...))

 

Evergreen blushed. She suddenly realised how close she and Nightfall were to each other, as well. She hadn't noticed it before... But didn't recoil, or move away. "Thank you..." She murmured, gazing into his eyes.

He started backing off, looking slightly embarrassed and a little ashamed.

Eve was visibly disappointed. More at the fact he had backed off than anything else. "Why be sorry?" She asked quietly, but not timidly. She simply floated there, allowing the fish in the pool to nip playfully at her tail. For at the moment, her eyes had nowhere to go except to Nighfall...
