(OOC: HOLY CRAP! That's a lotta posting for one day!)

 

Mortimer stood from his bed and started to walk around the hall, aimlessly. "Oh well, this day has been pretty much calmed, i must say" he thought. He looked around as lots of ponies walked through the halls.

Lite was amazed by the floor, amazing work by Lila...

 

"It's time I showed you real magic..."

 

Her horn now emitted black, as a moderate gust of wind flowed in the room. Her eyes were now black as night, looking straight at Lila before slipping into the shadows, waiting to see how she reacted.

Lila didn't notice Lite go into the shadows. She was still too busy finishing up her spell. When she was finished a few more lighting bolts struck the floor and after a second there was a loud moaning sound. Two rotting corpses crawled out of the spots where the lighting had hit and the bubble of fire dissipated into the air around her. Lila looked around and saw the expressions on the ponies faces who were watching. At this point a lot more had gathered around. But she was surprised she hadn't fainted yet. Usually after performing that spell she was either to dizzy to do anything or she fainted all together.

Lite got into Lila's shadow, and without any warning, covered her feet into a new black. Slowly, she was being pulled down into the void, no means of stopping. Perfect...

*What the buck?* Lila thought in panic as her hoofs were surrounded by a black void. She did a last ditch attempt to try and free herself. The flame on her horn grew bigger and bigger, then her whole body combusted into a black flame that didn't hurt her, but anything else would be. Fortunately for the walking corpses they weren't affected either.

"Peeve..." Air Opal lay on his bed staring at the ceiling. "Eh, I don't have any major problems, you can even listen to your music, I think I know a spell that could cut me off from the sounds around me if I need peace." He sat up and examined the room they were in. "Quite a dull place, if you ask me."

"Sorry to be out so soon, Opal, but I feel like swimming again," Typhoon said "Be back in... I don't know. Make yourself at home, I guess."

With that, Ty headed back to the swimming area. This time he could push his limits rather than just float around.

It was the middle of night when he arrived. He brought some flippers for his wings as well as swimming goggles.

"Im not going down that easily..." Lila made the flame hotter and commanded the zombie ponies to attack. Their eyes glowing red with hatred as they made their way forward. The flame was getting so hot it began to affect Lila herself as she felt the heat hit her in waves.

Lite was still staggering from her hit by the flame, but still managed to hold her power on Lila. Suddenly, she stated to feel weak... She collapsed onto the floor, breathing heavily...

 

Her normal magic kicked in, as her body glowed yellow. The singe marks were gone, and so was her old shadow grips...

As soon as Lite called mercy, Lila made the zombie ponies disappear and the flames went out. Lila herself had scorch marks on her now and stood victorious, breathing hard. "That *pant* was a good *pant* fight. Your'e... you're... yo...." Lilas eyes rolled into the back of her head and she hit the ground hard, collapsing from exhaustion. The university students stared and whispered amongst each  other waiting for some pony to do something.

"Yeah, uh, you go ahead and figure that out. I'm gonna go meet the other ponies in the dorm."

 

He had just seen a rather attractive mare walking into her room across the hall, and he thought he'd go introduce himself. He walked across the hall to room 113 and, since the door was open he tapped on the door frame instead of knocking.

 

"I'm just making the rounds, trying to meet everypony. You mind if I come in and talk?"

Cascade sat up from where she had been laying on her bed, and saw the stallion who had just spoke standing in the doorway. Making sure her wings were still hidden under her saddle bag, Cascade shrugged, and scooted up onto the edge of her bed. "Sure, you can come in. I guess. Who are you?" She peered at the stallion curiously.

 

((Gonna take a shower. Be back in a bit.))

"Ugh, oww!" Lilas head was throbbing when she woke back up. She got to her hoofs and looked around. After she gained her bearings she slowly made her way back to her dorm room, wincing with every step. *Well that was fun while it lasted* she thought to herself while she made her way up the two flights of stairs. "Of course they have to put the dorms above the classes." she uttered to herself.

Rambler casually walked in and introduced himself.

 

"My name's Rambler, I live just across the hall. I'm studying anthropology and music here at the university. How about you? What's your name, and what are you studying?"

 

Rambler noticed that she seemed to be hiding something, but decided not to mention it for now. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable.

Rambler casually walked in and introduced himself.

Cascade nodded, and smiled softly. "I'm Cascade, and I'm in marine biology. But I'm thinking about trying drama or sports or something, I dunno." She shrugged, mostly to herself, then returned her attention to Rambler. "You're in music? What do you play?"

Lila was panting when she finally reached the correct floor. She went to the room number, 113, and entered. She noticed a stallion in the room but gave him and Cascade little thought as she inched her way to her bed. As she climbed into it the burn marks screamed at her and she cringed at the pain until she settled down comfortably in the bed.

Cascade nodded, and smiled softly. "I'm Cascade, and I'm in marine biology. But I'm thinking about trying drama or sports or something, I dunno." She shrugged, mostly to herself, then returned her attention to Rambler. "You're in music? What do you play?"

"I sing and play guitar, banjo, and a little violin. I mostly play Neighlic and Coltic* folk music. I could sing a little something for you now if you want."

"I don't see why not. Go ahead, why don't you?" Cascade really had to put forth an effort to not sound overly eager about his playing, but she pulled it off quite well.

 

You don't want him, Cassie. He's probably one of those ponies that gets mares crawling all over him. Don't want the attention. Don't get any ideas.

 

Her face showed no sign of the argument going on within.

After Lite saw that Lila left the arena, she headed back to her room. No one was inside, so she decided to head into the void, as she opened a small portal with her shadow magic. Stepping in, she could see nothing but yellow dots, symbolizing eyes, as the portal disappeared.

 

"Hi guys!", she called out, as a small groan emitted from the void.

 

"Well, I'm having a good time here. I just dueled this one mare in a magic competition. She's really good... I had to forfeit."

 

*groan*

 

"I got burned from that match! The hit was powerful! I couldn't stay up for long!"

 

*longer groan*

 

"...She summoned zombies!"

 

*groan*

 

"You're saying I could have used the zombies' shadows to my control?! And I could have finished her?"

 

*short groan*

 

"Hey, quit putting me down! I'm still trying to get this to my knowledge! Can you at least cut me a break?"

 

*silence, then a series of groans*

 

"Well, fine! I'll show you! I'll show you that I can beat Lila easily WITHOUT your help!!"

 

With that, she summoned another portal, heading out of the void, and stepping back in her room.

Rambler nodded, glad she said yes. He knew just the song he wanted to play. Nothing romantic or anything since they just met, but a fun, lighthearted song that he had a strong connection to.

 

"Alright, this is an old folk song from back home. It really describes me, I think, and the kind of life I want to live. In fact, I was named after this song. I hope you like it."

Lila was listening to the conversation between the two and turned to face them, still laying on her bed. "I could use some music right now." She said to herself quietly. Lila pushed herself up and looked at the potion which was now a green color. "That got done a lot quicker than i thought it would." She slowly got off her bed and went to the brew stand, blowing out the candle. Lila then graabed the flask in her mouth and went up to the duo. "Sorry to intrupt." She said setting the glass container next to Cascade. "It will probably taste bad but go ahead and give it a try." She then went back to her own little corner of the room and laid back down on her bed.

(Its supposed to grow fake feathers on her wings. Painless, but whether or not it works is up to you)

Lila smiled, "It was just a small magic duel. I won but barely. I ended up burning myself at the end and summond a few zombies. You two should come watch next time, but in pretty sure Lite is going to want another duel here soon." She thought for a second then decided she was a little bored. Her horn ingited and three little balls of flames, about the size of strawberys, appeared in the air. Lila made the little balls float around the room. "It was fun i have to say, but its going to be a few days before i duel again."

Rambler curiously watched her drink the smoking green liquid.

 

"What's that for? If you don't mind me asking, that is."

 

(OOC: *He actually was named after it, and his whole character was inspired by the music of the Irish Rovers)

Cascade had just drained the glass of its contents and set it on her desk, when she choked a little bit.

 

Zombies? Well, that's kinda... unexpected.

 

"I'd love to come and watch next time," Cascade replied nonchalantly. "Where'd the duel arena? Over at Paradise Gym? I didn't see one there."

 

She fluttered her wings slightly at Rambler's question. Not that they could be seen - the saddlebag still concealed them. "Its just... um..." She thought briefly, then said, "It's just a little experiment of Lila's that I agreed to. It's nothing, really." She coughed, and out came a puff of the reddish smoke the potion had been emitting.

Lila shook her head. "No its down by the room where magic class takes place. We gathered a small crowd and i think its safe to say me and Lite may be the most magicaly advanced students here... Even if i might not know the basics of normal magic." She finished a little embarased. "Oh i didnt introduce myself to you. My name is Lila, Lila Fireheart of FallenMoon." Lila said holding out a hoof to the stallion.
