What if the ponies ended up on Earth?

My guess is that the government abducts them and does horrible experiments on them.

So what do you think would happen if the ponies somehow ended up here?

It would end badly, either because of crazed fans, the typical ET scenario with government experiments, or because of the simple conflict between utopian characters living in a fairly dystopian world. If they were in my proximity, I would try to hide and protect them, while trying to send them back ASAP.

Ok not, but seriously the government would probably want them, as well as some radicals as well, I guess. 

 

Or there could be a religious war outbreak between the two species, but that might seem unlikely nowadays.

Equestria is a more perfect world/realm to live in due to the lack of human flaws. 
 If Ponies came to earth, they would try to befriend Real Ponies who don't talk and only poop(been around real Ponies and turns out they are rude to put it politely) but would get anywhere. The whole world would treat them like celebrities. Humans woud either treat them as equals or kill them for being ungodly.

I'm writing a fanfic about this right now. Only thing is they lose their wings, horns, and unnatural colors, so they are just normal horses. So no problems with government experiments there. 

 

However I can assure you what happens still isn't all that good for the ponies (it's quite a depressing fanfiction...)

While I am sure there would be a few rabid fans like some people mentioned earlier I think that the government would be a much bigger threat to them than anything else, governments are the number one cause of death throughout history. So they would probably get the ET treatment and the unicorns would get the rawest of raw deals as there would be experiments to try to replicate their magical abilities so they could be weaponized.
