Azura 1,107 February 17, 2013 Share February 17, 2013 Advanced Signature Tutorial by Cloud Chaser Today I'll be teaching you how to create a signature. Since this is my first time making one, I might miss out a few things here and there so BARE with me. Though before you start reading, I'd like to tell you that this isn't a step-by-step, only people that are familiar with Photoshop would understand. First off, you've gotta pick a resolution. I personally use these resolutions when I'm creating signatures but you don't have to use them. Once you've chosen your resolution, find a vector of your liking. If you don't know what a vector is, it's basically a picture that's been cutten out by somepony with only the pony itself and nothing in the background. Vector I'll be picking Rainbow Dash because she's cool to work with. When you're picking your vector, remember to look for ones that fit your resolution. Just because it looks good doesn't mean it'll always fit. Remember to position the vector so that it covers around 1/3 of the signature, like this. And not like this. Remember to re-size the picture within it's ratio or else it'll look ugly. Now let's get to the background. It depends what you want but I'll just use the stock as the background. It's basically smudging it. Once we're done with that, we can start adding those little details that make a signature stand out. This isn't in order, so you don't have to follow exactly what I'm doing. Also, these things are only suited for this specific vector so don't do this for every single signature. First, we'll start adding some sparks onto the signature. I used this. Remove a few sparks that were covering her face and it should look something like this. Lets start adding some lights. This is a huge part of the signature, and one of the most difficult. Since I can't run you ponies through the entire process, here's the end result. It's a little bit dark, so lets brighten it up a bit. We're almost done, all we need is the text. I usually add a shiny border around it. And we're done! I know this isn't a step-by-step but I hope you learned something new. And remember to give me a brohoof before you leave this thread! 31 My Signature Shop!-=-=-=-=-Art Collection!-=-=-=-=-A Signature Tutorial! Also known as "Cloud Chaser". My Ponysona, Azura. MatrixChicken 879 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 Very nice tutorial indeed! I always wondered how you did those nice, painted-looking backgrounds. Also, the lights are a thing I need to work with. If you wanted people to try their hand at it and post it here, mine is in the form of my avatar. I made it yesterday, before I saw this tutorial, but I was trying for that Cloud Chaser look with it. 3 Deviantart: MatrixChicken | Youtube: ThunderFilmStudios | Twitter: @JohnAlBerge Twitch.tv: ThunderFilms | Soundcloud: ScootriX Scootaloo vector by robzombiefan2121
Gone Airbourne 21,977 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 (edited) After checking out CC's tutorial here the video above helped me out a lot with doing smudging/ smudge siggys . The best thing is just keep experimenting with different settings and etc. Edited February 19, 2013 by Gone ϟ Airbourne
Azura 1,107 February 19, 2013 Author Share February 19, 2013 After checking out CC's tutorial here the video above help me out a lot with doing smudging/ smudge siggys . The best thing is just keep experimenting with different settings and etc. Since I'm making signatures with ponies, I don't add all that extra stuff to make it more original. Maybe I'll try to make something different in my next signature. Very nice tutorial indeed! Well now you know! The lighting in a signature isn't that difficult, all you need is common sense and some knowledge of using Photoshop. Your avatar looks great! ~Scootaloo 440 March 13, 2013 Share March 13, 2013 Of course you get effort for trying! I actually wanted people to give it a shot but I kinda forgot to say that in the thread. Gimp is decent however I highly recommend using Photoshop. My drawing skills are less than desirable just ask @@Azura, however they are improving! anyway Photoshop tends to work better when ever I edit things (example: removing watermarks for my desktop backgrounds, or trying to cover up things *cough*). Azura 1,107 March 13, 2013 Author Share March 13, 2013 either you got the trial or you asked your parents, which they probably weren't too happy spending 700$ on something to edit photos. There are many ways to get Photoshop without having to pay, though it's not 110% safe so if anything happens to your computer, it's not my fault. Anyway, the safest way is to attempt to find a working key out there on the internet though most websites that contain working one will end up stealing sensitive data from your computer. You could also reset the trial over and over but those programs that help you could be dangerous. You could also change a few lines in one of the files within Photoshop which allows you to use it permanently. My suggestion is you download Paint.NET or Gimp since they work just fine. These are just a few alternatives to Photoshop I could think of. yay awesome! thanks for this, im going to make my own soon, hope i can do as good as you have done! thanks for the awesome tutorial! Remember to post your results back on this very thread once you're done. I'd love to see how it turns out for you, especially since it's based on a tutorial that I made.
