Scootalove 10,689 March 23, 2013 Share March 23, 2013 They will basically make toys, plushies, costumes, and dolls. Since products are what companies need to survive and use supply & demand, it would make sense to sell products that the main audience will purchase. I wouldn't say it relates to how Call of Duty appeals to kids and how they buy the product, I guess it could relate but the difference is Hasbro just sells toys. So we will see many products if Hasbro goes along with this. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
cuteycindyhoney 13,307 March 23, 2013 Share March 23, 2013 They better not release a Rainbow Dash-scented perfume or I would probably buy them all out of the stores and get high on it Seriously though, I see this Equestria Girls thing turning into the next Monster High, and a cheap copy. Here's a weird thought. Would Rainbow Dash perfume smell a bit equine? LOL! I never watched any "Monster High", but even with the character design, I think it's a rather big leap for people to keep saying Equestra Girls is a copy. How can anyone tell the plot and story line from just one still image? It was stated that the show will be about Celestia sending the mane six to another world. That sounds more like a Shojo anime thing to me. It's quite a popular theme in anime for a magical girl to be sent to another world, where she has to transform into a human while trying to correct some wrong. The wrong here, I am guessing, is Humanoid Trixie! Probably colouring books and crappy little plushies and then more dolls and costumes. When they're humanized, there is so many opportunities for more cash in Hasbro's wallet. And how is that a bad thing? I really don't understand this attitude people are copping. MLP:FIM was created as a sales aide for Hasbro toys. Hasbro isn't evil. Hasbro didn't steal the cartoon from anyone. They commissioned it and paid for it to be animated, for the express purpose of selling toys. They own every aspect of it one hundred percent. It's the same with Equestria Girls. Hasbro has every right to try and create more interest for toy sales. 1 Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
Red Diamond 549 March 23, 2013 Share March 23, 2013 "Equestria Girls" isn't even on the premiering schedule. Therefore, it won't air on the Hub anytime soon. Want proof? kirbyboi 588 March 23, 2013 Share March 23, 2013 Oh gosh, so much possibility for products. I can imagine Hasbro laughing with glee at all the money they could make off this. Obviously the first thing that comes to mind as a product is dolls. However, whether they'll be accurate or not is hard to tell. They probably won't look that much alike to the show, and I can imagine them being scented similar to that of the Strawberry Shortcake dolls. Of course a comb will come with it, and possibly a few hair accessories and stuff. I can see Equestria Girls backpacks, lunchboxes, ect. If the dolls are accurate or cute enough, I'll buy some. I'm sure they'll do a good job, hopefully! And yeah, I love the style of Equestria girls....love how it reminds me of some cute anime! XP

It's a franchise for children and therefore it's supposed to make money. I 100% agree with everything you're saying. I do apologize for sounding way too negative in my statement. I'm personally willing to give the new EQG show a chance. I really don't see anything wrong with it..

Clover Heart 978 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 (edited) I thought that Equestria Girls was supposed to appeal to older young girls, not teenagers. Like the target demographic for Bratz as opposed to the target demographic for Barbie. I don't really think teens would watch a cartoon like Equestria Girls. It just seems too kiddish. Whatever the demographic, just because Hasbro is a toy company, it doesn't mean that they're limited to making toys. If they're attempting to get a more mature audience that has aged out of dolls, there are a number of other things they could make. School supplies, phone covers, make-up sets, jewelry... They have a lot of non-toy options, here. "Equestria Girls" isn't even on the premiering schedule. Therefore, it won't air on the Hub anytime soon. Want proof? Here you go. http://press.discovery.com/us/hub/press-releases/2013/hub-network-unveils-2013-14-program-slate-238-2382/ Just because that's what they've released thus far doesn't mean that it's set in stone and can't be changed. Equestria Girls might be put somewhere on the schedule later. I assume summer's probably already decided, as it's approaching quickly, but fall and 2014 are still a ways off, and the scheduled line-up is probably still subject to change. Feather Gem 967 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 I think they'll probably make some ugly ripoffs of Monster High dolls. Think about it. Those weird pony-anthro-humans are pretty much monsters already! DiSCoRd'S AppRENtICe Promise Me - A Fanfiction By Feather Gem
Starflower 323 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 I keep hearing dolls. So I'm sure they'll be making dress-up/barbie-like dolls. To be quite honest, I'm actually curious, as well as excited for that because they'll be pretty and worth collecting. Might be expensive, but it'll be worth it.
