Lost, who wasn't too far off, heard Moonbeam screaming and galloped over to help her. He arrived to see the undead closing in on her.

 

No. I won't let it happen again.

 

He lept in front of her and swung both his hatchet and machete wildly at the monsters, not relenting until they all lied dead on the ground.

Lost, who wasn't too far off, heard Moonbeam screaming and galloped over to help her. He arrived to see the undead closing in on her.

He lept in front of her and swung both his hatchet and machete wildly at the monsters, not relenting until they all lied dead on the ground. 

While Lost was fighting, another undead sneaked behind him and attacked the poet pony. Moonbeam screamed as it dived at her. She scrambled in desperation, doing her best to fight it off. In her panic, she reached for her quill and stabbed at the zombie pony's face. The beast fell limp on top of her, and she struggled to push it off of her. She climbed to her hooves choking and tearing in misery, just as Lost defeated the undead. She ran to him and embraced him tightly, crying all over him.

Lost Knowledge returned her embrace and stroked her mane, doing his best to comfort her.

 

"It's okay. They're gone now and I'm right here to protect you. Everything is going to be fine, I promise."

 

I have to pay more attention. If I had taken any longer getting to her it might have been too late. I can't let that happen again.

Arrow was searching for one of the plants needed when she heard Moonbeam's call. She quickly stopped what she was doing and ran over to help, but Lost beat her too it. "Is everypony ok ?" She asked, mumbling something under her breath as she pushed one of the zombponies onto its back. "More things have died in my garden today than the eighty something year's I have been growing it." She muttered.

Moonbeam continued to sob and hiccup as she stood there with Lost Knowledge. Arrow came over and Moonbeam let go of Lost Knowledge. "Yeah...I'm fine..." she hiccuped quietly. She wiped the tears and blood from her face with her hoof before pointing it towards the flower that started it all. She pointed in silence.

Nightfall sat down. He had seen the attack, but everything was happening too quickly. He wondered what was wrong with himself.

"Get it together!"

"Chamois just up and went, right after looking like she liked you... she teased you... how can you get over things like this so quickly?"

His eyes, very nearly glazed over as he stared at nothing.

Dox saw Chamois run up to him, asking if she could help. "Sure, I guess. Why don't you help me look for..." Then he heard Moonbeam screaming. He started running to the screams, shouting, "Don't worry, I'm coming!" But by the time he got there, everything had been taken care of. "What happened?" He asked breathlessly.

Chamois looked over and quickly ran after him and towards the screaming.  She looked around at the scene.

Gosh, this is horrible.  Maybe I shouldn't have joined this group in the first place.  Things keep popping up everywhere.  And then there's the other little issue...

"Are you alright?" Chamois asked, looking at Moonbeam.  Well, obviously not.  "I...I mean, are you alright alright?"

Chamois looked over and quickly ran after him and towards the screaming.  She looked around at the scene.

Nightfall blinked, glanced at Chamois, then quickly back at the ground as he got up. He slowly walked over to the rest of the group. But he stayed silent, just hoping that they would be off soon. The more he forgot about how quickly Chamois left, the better.

Paradox put a hoof on Moonbeam's shoulder and gave her a small smile. "It's ok now, Moonbeam. Looks like a certain somepony here..." He glanced up at Lost, "Would never have let anything happen to you." He turned to the flower she was pointing at and gently collected it. "Seems that this is the one plant that all the recepies in this book call for." He put it away in his bag.

Chamois kept her back to Nightfall.  In her head, she played some lyrics.

Remember the lessons that you had learned,

Remember the pain that you had learned,

Remember the things that they had done,

Remember forever and you'll be fine,

Remember despite being told to forget.

Chamois stared at the flower.  What a pretty flower, she thought simply.

Dox finished gathering the plants that he could a few hours later, letting the others relax. He came back and laid it all out carefully for everypony to see, saying, "Well, Arrow, almost every single plant we need is in your garden. Only one or two aren't here, but we can find them as we go through the forest."

Arrow nodded. "Alright then...we should probably get going before it starts getting dark...again. And the forest is full of flower's and plants so we can get some there...everypony just watch out for poison joke." She said.

Dox nodded. "Arrow is right, we've spent enough time looking for things. We need to head out. And as for the poison joke, that's actually one of plants we need. If anypony sees it, point it out, but do not touch it under any circumstances."

Moonbeam cleaned all of the dirt, tears, and blood from her skirmish with the zombie off of her before rejoining the group, just in time to hear that they were finally leaving. Good. We need to hurry...and get away from this place.

 

"Let's get moving," she said softly, still shocked from her experience by the flower.

Lost wiped the blood off of his weapons and slowly returned them to their sheaths before returning to the others. He was glad to hear that they were finally on their way. This garden had been the site of two near-disasters already, he didn't need anymore from it.

Chamois nodded.  "Yes.  That would be best..." she said quietly, so that they wouldn't actually hear her.  She quickly trotted over to her bag and picked it up.  She put it on and strapped it on tightly.  This was the cause of having to come back here in the first place, losing it again would be drastic.

"Ok, now, seeing as we're going to head straight to the changeling kingdom with no side quests to track me down again..." Dox gave a little chuckle. "We need to get into pairs, one mare, one stallion in each. I say that me and Arrow are one, then Lost and Moonbeam. That would leave Nightfall and Chamois. We need to try and stick together, though."

"Ok, now, seeing as we're going to head straight to the changeling kingdom with no side quests to track me down again..." Dox gave a little chuckle. "We need to get into pairs, one mare, one stallion in each. I say that me and Arrow are one, then Lost and Moonbeam. That would leave Nightfall and Chamois. We need to try and stick together, though."

 

Arrow nodded. "Then lets get going." She said, walking down a path that led towards where they were all traveling earlier...before she dragged everypony back here for no reason...except kill the changeling, but everypony didn't need to come for that one reason, one changeling isn't difficult to deal with.

Paradox nodded and walked side by side with Arrow. They slowly made their way to the exit of the garden, where Dox turned around and said, "Ok, everypony try and stay together. If we get separated, try and stick with your partner. Meet up at the edge of the forest if that happens, ok?" He then turned around again and exited the garden.

Moonbeam walked beside Lost Knowledge with her head bowed low. She was sad, both from the terrifying experience she had just endured, but also because of the weak and cowardly way she dealt with her. She promised that she would be stronger from now on. But she was a failure. She uttered in a melancholic manner, "Thank you...for before."

What, now you're going to tell moonbeam about Her? You really want to open that up in the middle of everything that's going on?

"No...nothing's wrong. I'll...I'll be fine," she said in a sad, very unconvincing tone.  "I...I just have to be more careful from now on. Regardless of your reasons for helping me, I'm really thankful for what you did. I'm glad Paradox paired us together."

 

(I'm going to be gone for a little over an hour because I have class.)
