Dox shook his head feverantly at bout suggestions. He didn't plan on being up in the air again anytime soon because of his recent fall. He just shakily said, "Uh, n-no, I think th-that going around and w-walking is better. B-besides, we might find g-good materials for our journey!" 'Whoo, nice save, Doxy.'

Arrow shrugged. "Okay then. Its up to you." She said, walking towards the large pile of rocks. "We better get started then." She said, flapping her wings a little bit and flying to the top of a large boulder, then gesturing for Paradox to follow. "Come on." She said.

Paradox was expecting to find a way around the rocks, but as he looked down to the river, he saw they had piled up all the way down there. He let out a small sigh and began climbing the rocks, casting a stability spell on himself so he wouldn't fall as easily.

Arrow followed Paradox around the rock pile.

She stayed close to Dox in case he needed a helping hoof. "So...how far away from the changeling hive are we ?" She asked, flapping her wings and flying over to a large boulder and looking down at the ground...which was quite a way's away. "Are you sure you don't want some help ?" She asked, looking over at Paradox.

"We could look for signs of them.  Like hoof prints or broken twigs or something.  Or magic.  Any pony know a tracking spell?" she said.  Then she blinked and pulled her hat down farther.  As she did so she felt a surge of panic.  My sketch book.  I left it.  Chamois turned around and practically started walking back.  Then she realized this was a terrible idea and she just slumped to the ground with a moan.  She covered her head with her hooves, her ears flapping down.  "Oooh come on!"

Nightfall looked behind him and saw Chamois reaction. He glanced nervously and a bit angrily at Lost, then stopped and trotted back to her.

"Hey, there... what's wrong?"

He bent down and put a hoof on her shoulder, wondering what was making this pony act this way.

Chamois lowered her head, letting her mane fall over her eyes.  "I left my sketch book," she said, not thinking how some ponies would not see the importance of this.  To her, her sketch book was extremely important to her, her most prized possession.  So she thought by this short sentence alone, it would be easy enough to see why she freaked out.  She never left her sketch book anywhere, and the one time she did, she left it behind.

"Look... I can teleport us there quickly, and then back here. Only problem is... We'd have tot rack them from here. Do you want to try that?"

"Another problem: we'd be stuck alone for who knows how long... Well... could be a problem, could be a blessing."

Chamois looked up at him, her ears slowly pricking upwards.  "Really?" she said, not really believing he would do that.  She couldn't help feel that he was being sarcastic and she just wasn't hearing it.  But he looked like he meant it.  "Wait.  Are you being serious?" she asked, her face brightening up.

"We'd need to track them down together and find your notebook together, but I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard. And if we left together, right now, we could probably be back fast enough that no one would notice..."

"Okay!" Chamois grinned, bouncing onto her four hooves.  I don't think I'd want to think about losing my sketch book on this trip of ours anyway.  And now some pony will help me get it back!  "Let's go!" Chamois said.  As long as no pony has taken my sketch book anyway.

Nightfall charged a spell, then looked around, quickly. With no one noticing, he took a deep breath and teleported them both back into the garden. But Nightfall stumbled as he landed, falling onto his side. Something was wrong about the garden; something was horribly off, and made the place seem eerie.

Chamois had been standing with her hooves slightly apart to balance herself when they teleported.  She looked down at Nightfall.  "You okay?" she asked, reaching a hoof towards him to help him up.  She glanced around the garden, hoping that no pony else was here.

Nightfall looked up. Some strange power had tumbled him, and not just the teleporting; he never stumbled after teleporting. He took her hoof and got up, blushing a little when he took her hoof.

"Yeah. I'm fine. This place, though... It isn't. I mean, I never stumble after teleporting. Something isn't right here."

He paused.

"We gotta find your notebook quickly."

The sky was a bit darker than it was a couple moments ago, and it was steadily getting darker.

From the front of the group, Moonbeam didn't notice that Chamois and Nightfall had left. "Okay, we're here. If we wait a while, Paradox has to walk past this exact spot to get to the changelings," she said with a rather positive inflection. Things were going right for once! It was then that Moonbeam turned around and noticed that Nightfall and Chamois were gone. "Where...where did they do?" she exclaimed.

 

Our fearless leader abandoned us!

"Oh we're getting close" shade said as she changed into her changeling forum. Her ears began to twitch. " closer than you think"

 

Shade could feel that they were moving into the territory, and in the territory. There were scouts scouting the place.

 

"If you want to sneak in, then we better hurry."

Paradox slipped up a little bit but caught himself. "No, I'm fine, I can handle it." He began climbing up the big rock that Arrow had climbed, taking his time so he wouldn't fall. And all the while, he noticed dark, ominous clouds coming in. That was bad, very bad.

 

He glanced at Shade. "I thought the edge of the kingdom was a bit of a ways off." He got to the top of the rock, and began looking around. There were still trees around the cliffs they were on, but something about them seemed... off. It looked like they were indeed in the changeling kingdom.

Suddenly, Moonbeam spied something in the distance. It was them!

 

"Lost! Look! It's Paradox! And he's with Shade and Arrow!" she began trotting in their direction as dark clouds gathered overhead. I hope there isn't a storm coming or something..., she thought.

 

"Paradox! Paradox! It's us!" she called.

Paradox facehoofed. Why were they here? He told them to go home, but it seemed like only a few of them had listened. Nightfall and that one other mare were nowhere to be seen, and neither was Twisted Curse. He looked at them and sighed. "I told you all to go home!" Just then, the wind began to pick up violently.

"Like I said, closer than you think" said shade, then the wind started to pick up.

The wind nearly blew shade off her balance, "what's with this wind?" She asked dox expecting him to know what it was.

 

She came to the ground and took cover under a tree. The wind was strong.

"You really thought we were just going to go home and leave you to go get yourself killed? We all agreed to do this, and now we're in it together. Besides, you don't have a chance without us. Just let us help you, we understand the risk, but this is too important."

Moonbeam chuckled as she stopped in front of Paradox. "You're not going to get rid of us that easily. Nightfall and Chamois were coming too, but I don't know where they went. Maybe Chamois forgot something? Anyway, we're coming with you. We can't let you do this alone. We knew what we were getting ourselves into when we first walked into that tavern," she said boldly.

"If you ask me, none of you know what your up againced, were heading to the hive. And it's dangerous to be close to it around this time of year."

 

Shade growls as she shows off her changeling forum.

"Yes... I'm a changeling, get over it.... And I know everything there is to know about them."

"Of course you are," said Moonbeam with casual cheer. "We've known for the longest time. And trust me, things may be difficult, and the odds may seem against us, but will find a way. Thank you for helping us, Shade," she said with a warm smile. "You may be cold on the outside, but I know deep down, you're  good. I hope we can be friends, even after all of this. Anyway, let's get down to planning. You know everything about them right? Is there a weak point? A place where we could sneak in safely?"

Arrow was climbing down a particularly large boulder towards the others when here eyes widened. She slipped but managed to catch herself. "Something's wrong...G-Guys...Something's wrong at my garden...I...I can feel it." She said, climbing down from the rock and sitting down. She gulped and stared down at the ground. "Where's Nightfall and Chamois ?" She asked, looking up at Moonbeam.
