Count Paradox

Moonbeam moved around, fluttering her wings and enjoying her return to her changeling appearance. She walked along with the group as they discussed the nature of the changeling hive. She didn't have much to contribute herself, so she just listened to their insights.

(OOC realise i haven't read all of the comics yet, so please, don't spoil any more.)

Dox could tell that he hurt Shade, so he stopped and put a hoof on her shoulder. "None of that was directed at you, Shade, just the changelings. And you're not a changeling, you're... different, and incredible, and amazing, and... fantastic." He smiled. "You can sense emotions, just like a changeling, but, unlike them, you can control your hunger urges. And that makes you better than them."

Arrow quietly followed behind the group. She looked up to see Dox putting a hoof on Shade's shoulder. She couldn't but feel slightly jealous...even though she knew he wouldn't do that.

She looked back down at her hooves, which were covered by the changeling armor. She started noticing something...she could hear the armor clinking against her...bark...but she couldn't seem to feel it...come to think of it she couldn't feel the ground under her hooves either.

She let out an annoyed sigh and looked around, hoping to see the cure for poison joke...somewhere.

Shade looked at paradox, "that's not entirely true either..." She said shrugging uncomfortably. "If they were that good at sensing emotion... Then they would.... Um... Never mind" she said as she got out of paradoxes hoof and walked ahead.

She looks at herself and feels guilt and sadness, she felt link crying but didnt want to look bad in front of everypony.

"They would what, Shade?" Dox was a bit confused, and he hurried up to her to straighten things out. Then, he saw that she was upset, and he stopped her and hugged her, saying, "Hey, it's ok. Everything's ok now. We have the group together again, it doesn't matter that you ran off, all that matters is that you came back. We thank you for that... I thank you for that."

Chamois walked beside Nightfall, glancing around for the flower.  She hadn't anything better to do anyway.  "Oh!  Oh!  Oh!" Chamois said suddenly.  She had spotted it.  The odd green flower with orange-red spots.  Chamois quickly reached out a hoof to grasp Nightfall's hoof and pull him to a stop.  "I found the poison joke cure flower thing, Arrow!" Chamois called, pointing at it, proud of herself.

@@Feather Gem,

Arrow hadn't heard Chamois...in fact she hadn't really hear anything since looking up ahead to see Dox hugging Shade.

She stared at them but quickly looked away not wanting anypony to think she was jealous or annoyed...which she was.

She heard Chamois finish and say something about a flower. "I...wha ? Oh..Right." She said, walking over to the flower. "Okay, I'm going to need to borrow somepony's knife and then I am going to need one more thing...the sap from a gadoak tree." She said, leaning down and gently pulling the peddles off the plant, which was rather difficult now that her hooves were covered in bark.

Nightfall blushed as Chamois held his hoof, but looked down at the flower. It did certainly look strange, and when Arrow pulled of the pedals of the flower, it looked even weirder. But Nightfall got closer to Chamois, with the excuse that if she backed away, he just wanted to see the flower better.

Shade didnt say anything, a tear ran down her cheek. She broke out of paradoxes hug and walked even more ahead. She walked up to the top of a hill and saw the changeling hive, she looks at it and says. " bout time we get here." She looks back waiting for the other ponies to catch up.

Dox was a bit disheartened when Shade pulled away. It seemed that she wanted to be left alone. Then, from behind him, he heard his marefriend asking for a knife. He quickly turned and said, "What do you need a knife for?! If it's to get those petals apart, I can do that!" He quickly walked over and began pulling them apart.

"NO WAIT." She yelled, just as Dox picked up one of the peddles. "Don't pull them apart...the stem down the middle of the peddle needs to be cut out because if it were to be cut open in any way it releases this type of acid that not only burns through pretty much anything...but it also smell's dreadful and can knock an average sized pony unconscious." She said, gently taking the peddle from Dox. "That's why most of the time ponies take the time to make a potion which takes a while and we would need ALLOT of different ingredients. This way is easier...but a little more dangerous."

Shade turns around and raises an eyebrow, she looks at the ponies that seem to be fussing over some flower... "That's the cure for poison joke? I wonder what would happen if I eat one of thoes... What ever... But can we keep moving? This spell that keeps you in your disguise is harder than it looks... I won't last for ever if we keep stoping for things..."

(Shade Bluewind needs our help, her magic will not last for ever, I think we can do it, but we need to work together. XD)

As Chamois watched the two ponies talking over the flower, she noticed Nightfall had gotten closer to her and she realized she had taken his hoof.

Oh for goodness sake, Chamois.  You ridiculous mare.

Chamois quickly let go of his hoof and went towards Shade.  She cautiously looked down the hill at the changeling hive.  "Oh..." she whispered.  She felt a bit afraid now.  They were actually here.  She was actually doing this.  "Well...I...guess...we're going in there..." she said lamely.

Chamois left him yet again, and he wondered if it was something he was doing, or if she just didn't like him. He figured that it was the latter, so he sighed, and looked around after getting a peak at the flower. He looked up at Chamois, then at the others, and walked up so he was standing on the same hill as Chamois, but not close.

"I'm sorry, Chamois..."

It had been quite a while since he had spoken, so she looked up in surprise when he did.  Then what he said made her want to turn away, but she stood here ground and made sure to keep her eyes on his.  "What do you mean?" she asked, as if she hadn't a clue.  She didn't know if she sounded very convincing.

He just looked down. He hadn't really noticed the hive yet.

"I thought maybe that's why you don't why to be close or spend time with me."

He looked up, and became silent. His coat paled as much as it could.

"Oh no..."

"Hey, calm down Shade. We need to fix Arrow first. You don't have to keep the spell up right now, do you?"

You did!  You did!  Nightfall wins the prize!  Chamois thought as she listened to him talk on.  She gave a small nervous cough and lifted her shoulders.  "Don't be silly...I...I wasn't trying to make you feel that way..." she said.  Which is a straight out lie, but come on!  How can I tell that face the horrible truth!  Then Nightfall went pale.  Chamois blinked.  "Er...you okay?" she asked.

He hunched down.

"Ah- um... I just..."

He couldn't believe the size of the hive. He didn't know that he had signed up for this.

"I just... I didn't..."

He gulped.

"No. I'm not really fine. I just... I didn't expect that."

He pointed at the hive, and turned so he wasn't facing Chamois.

"Ok, call me a coward! Just please, get it over with!"

Chamois glanced at the hive.  Well, yeah, it is scary.  And big.  How many changelings could be in there?  Chamois turned Nightfall.  I'm scared too.  I'm sure lots of ponies would be.  That doesn't make you a coward.  Chamois went over to him and stood beside him.  She nudged him slightly with hoof.  "You're not a coward.  I'm scared too," she admitted.  Chamois wasn't one to admit she was afraid unless there was another pony admitting it as well.

He looked at her briefly.

"But you're not cowering like I am. I mean... You at least look confident."

He sat down.

"And I was the one who was trying to be confident at the beginning. Now look. I'm sitting here, scared so much I'm nearly shaking..."

He lowered his head.

"Yeah, but that's just the way I am," Chamois explained despite herself.  "I hide my emotions.  Probably not very healthy," she added.  She then sat down beside him.  "How about this," she said.  "Instead of me keep running off, how about we actually stick together this time?"

Chamois!

Shut up.

"That way, we'll both feel less scared."  Well, you can't feel very safe with me.  I can't do anything.  But you don't need the details, right?

He looked at her.

"I suppose that would help."

He looked back at the ground, stirring it with his hoof, silent. He wanted to ask if they should go back to the group or not, but he didn't know how to ask it without sounding like he suddenly didn't like being alone with her.

Chamois nodded and then went silent, watching him play with the dirt.  Finally, she stood up and held her hoof to him, to help him up.  "Well, we don't want to be left behind, do we?" she asked.  She was sure they wouldn't leave the behind, but they might be annoyed with them.
