The S4 Premiere will probably be like Princess Promenade

I know I have. I get the feeling that the S4 premiere will play along the lines of G3's Princess Promenade, only with an alternate ending.

I mean, think about it. Both have ponies become princesses, but eventually the S4 premiere will have Twilight suffer separation anxiety from her friends, much like Wysteria before her. Yes, Twilight will spread friendship as princess, but unfortunately she won't get any friendship of her own in the process, not even from her friends, because she's too busy spreading it.

However, I'm getting the feeling that it will have an ending opposite of the one from Princess Promenade. At the end of the G3 direct-to-DVD film, Wysteria declared her friends princesses as well, so that she wouldn't have to suffer separation anxiety any longer. However, since this is G4 ponies we're talking about, Twilight will probably instead resign from royalty to be with her friends again, since I highly doubt there is a way for Twilight to alicornify her friends as well. Either that, or the S4 premiere will be another save-the-world story like previous season premieres, and the only way Twilight could save her friends and all of Equestria again is if she sacrifices her wings and princesshood, thus getting the chance to be with them again.

Another reason is because this wouldn't be the first time Friendship is Magic paid homage to previous generations. Friendship is Magic Part Two referenced many portions of Escape From Midnight Castle, from the main-villain who wants to cover the world in eternal night, to that white-river and fragile bridge. Meanwhile, Dragonshy borrowed a lot from Twinkle Wish Adventure, most notably the idea of a dragon covering the skies with its smoke, and a group of ponies coming to persuade it to stop. Not to mention, the huge majority of the show in-general was a mixture of G1's magical fantasy adventure elements, with G2's slice-of-life elements. And, let's not forget about Spike, who is an iteration of the previous two Spikes from G1 and G3, minus Charles Adler's voice from G1, and the snooty accent and long, convoluted name from G3.

Well? Did anyone get any of the same vibes from Princess Promenade as I have? Again, as princess, Twilight might experience some of the same loneliness as Wysteria from G3. However, unlike G3, it might end with Twilight resigning from princesshood to save her friends, rather than declare her friends princesses.

You remember how Friendship is Magic Part Two paid homage to G1's Escape from Midnight Castle? Don't forget about Dragonshy, and how it shared the same basic storyline as G3's Twinkle Wish Adventure.

I get the feeling that the S4 premiere will be like G3's Princess Promenade. Like Wysteria, Twilight will live out her life as a princess, but become unable to be with her friends due to her role as such. However, since this is G4 ponies we're talking about, it might mean that it'll have an ending alternate to the one from Princess Promenade. Whereas Wysteria declared that her friends become princesses, Twilight will instead either resign from princesshood to be with her friends again, or sacrifice her wings and all of her princess-magic to save her friends from whatever world-ending threat they pit her against.

What do you think, and why?

Could of swore that you made a topic just like this one before.....Either way, I am in support of Twilicorn and I hope they do not change her back, at least not for a good while. That type of constant switcharoo would be annoying, especially since they hyped up the princess thing, and I see many plot opportunities with it this way.

But at the same time, there are also people like myself who like Twilight the way she was: A unicorn librarian. She didn't need to live out a life that doesn't suit her, because just as Applejack is to her farm, Rarity is to fashion-designing, and so on, Twilight is all about studying. Sure, she still has to care about her friends, but her studies were what made her who she was, before that princess stuff came around.

Also, if any time you plan on bringing up what Meghan McCarthy and Tara Strong said about "Twilight remaining true to herself," let's just say that I'm not taking what they're saying about her at face-value. I mean, the last time they lied about something, it was their choice to kill off Derpy Hooves after Derpygate, but then they chose to resurrect her for the S3 finale. I don't trust what they're saying, because once the S4 premiere comes out, it might actually be the complete opposite of what they said. Twilight will still spend too much time at the Canterlot palace doing politics, almost to the point of alienating her friends, and she'll probably miss her old life spent at Ponyville with her friends. It'll be Princess Promenade all over again.

Hello!

I won't lie, theories like these are just flaming hot these past couple of days... Many people are desperate for Twilight to turn back into a unicorn, so this scenario seems very appealing to them.

I Believe, that something similar will happen, but we will just have to wait and see. I guess we all learned a lesson. The writers are really un-predictable.

You also made this exact response to me in the other thread. Celestia herself said that Twilight is not done learning. We don't even know what Twilight's role as a princess will be. Why can't she stay in Ponyville? Is that entirely impossible? Can someone of even slight royal status live there life as they would? This is the cliché that I hope that the writers avoid. Changing her back because it is impossible to continue the show in this form, which is completely false.

I'm sorry, but I highly doubt they'll find a way around the whole "return to the status quo" cliche mostly seen in other children's cartoons. They've borrowed previously-established elements from other cartoons before, but unlike those cartoons they did so well. I'm sure that they'll also pull off Twilight's return to her old, unicorn self well.

Another familiar response. Not doing this song and dance any longer, at least not with you. My opinion is that Twilicorn should stay for a good while and I am sticking to that. I see many different possibilities.

By the way, here is the other topic that you started.

Agreed.  I'm tired of you posting new topics time and time again on the same thing.  I've reported you about this ponyshep. Not for the first time either.  If anybody agrees, feel free to follow suite.

Well, what else should I say here?

The reason why I go on message boards so often is because in the real world, I have no friends. However, every time I go on message boards like this and share my opinions, I'm always met with people having opposing viewpoints, even if at times they're in the minority. When that happens, I do my best to provide evidence that proves my opinions, and they're almost always met with evidence that disproves my opinions. Then after that, I just panic and either (1) continue acting in denial, or (2) take everyone's opinions too seriously.

I mean, whenever I hear people like you say that, it's as if I'm being told to never have my own opinions at all, and that I should always follow someone else's like a mindless drone, no matter what. I want to believe Princess Twilight is temporary, and that the writers will return her to a unicorn in the S4 premiere. But, it's not when I have over a million people telling me otherwise, that I'm in denial, and that I should deal with Princess Twilight.

So really, what the hell should I do? Not develop my own opinions at all? It's not like Season Four is even out yet, damn it!

You have every right to be upset and express it; by all means, keep posting your opinions. Based on what everyone else is saying, it's not your "Twilight turns back into a unicorn again" ideas that they find obnoxious; it's the fact that you keep posting entirely new forum threads when there are already existing threads where people can speculate what will happen in season 4.

OMBG that special

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT IT

I THOUGHT THAT PART OF MY CHILDHOOD WAS OVER

Well, that'd be pretty awesome. This being FiM, I think it would bring that old movie to justice and make it waaay better.

I'm confused. Why wouldn't Twilight be able to hang out with her friends? They're like heroes of Equestria five times over and the wielders of the land's top defensive system. Who's going to complain if she plans a whole series of spurious Harmony Defense Strategy Planning Retreats in Ponyville to, er, "coordinate" with her fellow co-wielders?

And I think we're missing a key point. Twilight was always going to leave Ponyville and her friends. She's Celestia's student - bordering on apprentice - and would eventually take up a greater responsibility in the running of Equestria. Granted, metamorphosis and elevation to royalty are a bit much, but the core concept is still there. Like Rarity and Rainbow, her dreams and destiny lie beyond the bounds of Ponyville. Of course, for the purposes of the show, all this was supposed to happen at the end of the series, but what can you do?

-snip-

I've merged your threads, 'The S4 Premiere will probably be like Princess Promenade' and 'Got any vibes from G3's Princess Promenade *S3 Finale Related*' into a single thread, also merging your OP's together into one. Both of your topics are more or less touching upon the same points about Princess Promenade, and I don't think they belong in separate topics.

Oh, this is what it will be like:

Sorry, I've been waiting forever to make that reference.

I may not be looking forward to season 4, but I'm not going to assume the worst.  That would make me no better than the brony-haters.
