Melody stood behind Flare her hooves at the ready in case a changeling got close to her. The sound got closer and closer, it was the sound of hoofsteps and they were very close to Melody and Flare. Slowly a dark blue pegasus stallion came staggering from around the corner his spiky yellow mane and tail with grey tips offsetting his dark coat. His golden yellow eyes shined in the dimly lit room. A tattered white scarf was wrapped around his neck. "M...Melody? Is that you?" The stallion coughed collapsing onto the floor staring up at Melody and Flare.

 

Melody's eyes lit up when she saw the stallion and she ran over to him. "Spark....by Celestia is that you!? What are you doing here?" Melody nuzzled close to the stallion, helping hi up to his hooves. "I'll explain later there's changelings coming we need to get out of here."

 

(OOOhhhhh plot twist didn't see that coming did we.)

"Yeah go get Sparks to safety" Flare said as he turned to see a dozen of changelings. "Well...I guess I get to put my new skill to the test" Flare said as he shot his feathers the the changelings some killed a few other only injured the changelings. "Um...anypony wanna help"

Delia looked at the situation and thought it weird. She then saw a tall buff looking figure that seemed to be familiar to her.

As the figure approached she gasped.

"Tendaji? Is that you?What are you doing here?" Delia asked.

 

The male Zebra was similar to Delia. His appearance was rough and the clothes he had on bare resemblance to the patterns on Delia's pouch. Tendaji also had beads around his body and several plants tied on. His forelegs had silver knives in a leather sheath around them. "Delia its good to see you again. I still cherish our time together, i want you to know that." He said as he approached Delia

Melody had tears in her eyes as she helped Spark outside. Melody had thought he was dead, he was once a lunar knight one of the guards that protected the night. Melody could see shadows moving around the houses she didn't want to loose Spark again. "Melody we need to get out of here we're completely surrounded." Melody didn't know what to do she wanted to protect Spark, but she also wanted to be there for Flare. "Flare come on we need to get out of here!" Melody yelled to Flare.

"Go I'll catch up later" Flare said as more changelings appeared. "You don't give up do you" Flare said as he fired more feathers at the changelings. "Go...I'll hold them for as long as I ca-" Flare was intereuppted by a changeling jumping onto him and biting him then leaving. "Gah...that hurt...but...they just left...why" Flare asked as he felt where he was bitten.

"Seems that debate won't work now." Jolt said sadly. "Their numbers are too high. Everypony get out of here! We can't win with force but we can win with intelligence." A Changeling jumped at Jolt when he finished speaking. Jolt deftly dodged and laughed as it fell to its face, following quickly with a neck splintering kick. "Again, everypony out!"

Melody was doing her best to protect Spark but when she saw Flare get bitten she snapped. Melody ran towards the house leaving Spark for a moment. Melody only made it half way before she felt a searing pain in her right front leg. Melody looked down to see a dagger in her leg, before she hit the ground with a thud her blood soaking the dirt. The changeling that attacked her went to bite her only to get a face full of hooves as Spark protected her knocking the changeling back causing it to retreat. "Melody don't move that wound is deep." Spark watched as her blood ran as Melody cried in pain.

When Flare saw that Melody was hurt and saw the retreating changlung so he pinned it to a house using his feathers but still felt pain where he was bitten. He walked up to the changeling. "What is with you and biting....answer me or I will cut you bloody head off and feed it yo your queen when she's dead and also what do you want" Flare asks as his sharp wing was pressing hard enough for a little blood to trickle from the changelings Neck.

The sight of how Flare was treating the Changeling sent shivers down his spine.

 

"Flare, that's barbaric! A gentle voice will get you further than threats when you are seeking information."

 

Jolt went towards the pinned Changeling and carefully removed the sharpened wing. He placed a hoof over the cut on the Changeling's neck.

 

"Calm down for a minute. Until that cut can get sorted out, a hoof will have to do. Try not to move." Jolt said in calming tones.

Spark pulled his scarf off and wrapped Melody's leg in it before tieing it tightly. Spark wanted to keep her from losing any more blood. "Spark ah....it burns...make it stop." Melody pleaded, all she wanted was to get away and not be in this situation anymore. Spark picked Melody up onto his back. His legs practically gave out but he had to help Melody. "Come on everypony we need to go now!"

"Jolt never interfere with what I'm d-gah" Flare flinched as he felt his bite mark burn a bit. "Tell me changeling...your bites are poision are they" Flare asked in the softest tone he can manage. "If it is tell me...what will happen to me if not cured in time" Flare asked as the wound started to burn more.

Delia saw her group was in panic and urged Tendaji to follow the group. 

"Come, the crystal heart is in plain site. We must grab it and go." Delia shouted as a horde of Changelings blocked their path.

"Draco, where are you?" Delia shouted as a changeling tried attacking her. Tendaji made quick work of the creatures with his knife and nudged at Delia.

"Come, forget about this heart thing. Let us get out of here and return to our homeland." He said

Melody was crying in pain. The poison dipped dagger had done it's trick, and now swarms of changelings were coming out of the woodwork. Spark looked back at Melody seeing her breathing a little labored, there wasn't any time to sit around. "Come on everypony we need to leave right now. There are too many of them we need to go right now." Spark yelled as he started making his way twoards the forest hopefully getting away from the horde.

Delia saw and heard Melody. She and Tendaji both went towards the forest as they dodge the changelings.

"Its not like me to abandon a quest such as this, but i know when to retreat!" She exclaimed. 

Tendaji and Delia helped Spark and Melody get into the forest.

"Great more changelings" Flare said. "Jolt we need to get moving...now" Flare said as he grabbed Jolt and rran to the forest. "They didn't take long to come back at all" Flare said as he followed behind Spark and Delia who was carrying Melody. "I really hope she's okay" Flare thought

Once they were in the forest and out of danger Spark set Melody down. Melody collapsed from the searing pain in her leg, the poison was definitely doing its job. "Hey Flare I'm going to need you or somepony to find me some white flowers with blue tips on the peddles.I'll also need some solar flower, their peddles are orange at the base turning to yellow at the tips." Spark nuzzled against Melody, she looked at him with tears in her eyes. "It'll be ok Melody I'm here now, I'll protect you."

"Solar flowers..." Flare had just remembered Melody giving him a flower with that name. "You mean this" Flare said grabbing the flower that Melody gave him. "Here...I'll go find the other flowers" Flare said giving the flower to Spark and heading deeper into the forest. "Hold on Melody..." Flare said as he looked for the white flowers Spark told about.

Spark watched Melody start to have trouble breathing, the poison going into its second phase. Spark ran to a small pond pulling the water out he made a rain cloud and brought it back to Melody. Spark made the cloud rain on her wound flushing any remaining poison out and cleaning any debris."Hang on Melody Flare should be back soon." Spark started crushing the solar flower as well as some other herbs. Spark made a special ointment out of the solar flower and herbs but it wasn't the one he needed. All he could was hope Flare made it back soon or Melody would only get worse.

Flare found the flowers and went to pick them up till he heard something. "Who's there" Flare looked around and was attacked by a injured changeling. "Get off me" Flare yelled kicking the changeling off then saw how injured it was. He picked the flowers and was about to leave till he turned his head to look at the changeling. "Wait here and I will be back" Flare said as he returned to spark with the flowers he asked for.

Spark took the flower from Flare and began mixing it with some other herbs. While he waited for the medicine to set he slapped Flares bites with the other gel. "There you should be fine now if there was any poison it'll be removed." Spark then placed a small dab of the new jelly like medicine on her tongue and then on her wound. With a gag Melody swallowed the jelly and within a few minutes her breathing was back to normal. "I don't know who you think you are Flare but you should've protected Melody." Spark glared at Flare like he was trying to pick a fight with the pegasus.

"Listen I suggest you don't piss me off I know I should have protected her and I made a mistake but if you want me to leave I will" Flare said glaring at Spark. "Also try not picking a fight with me cause so far I'm not your enemy and your not my enemy so either keep quiet about me or just leave" Flare said as he kept his cool he wasn't gonna let the pony bother him

Draco had gone off away from the group when he heard his sister was gone. Then the changelings dared to mock her image When he heard his name called he quickly flew into the air and began to provide back up for the one he love. He glared at the new zebra. He was alone now.

Flare went back into he forest and saw the changeling form before still hurt. "Listen you cant be here my group doesn't like you changelings right now so please leave" Flare said as he left and the changeling followed. "Please dont....Im letting you live out of the kindness of my heart..." Flare said as he turned around and saw the changeling turned into a mare. "Im...not sure...one of them might know you a changeling

Delia looked on as the new pony named Spark argued with Flare.

"Please don't argue we are in a very dire situation."

Tendaji then blocked an incoming attack from a changeling. He then bucked a couple more away and blocked Draco's view of Delia.

"Changelings be damned! Me and Tendaji are going in for the crystal heart." Delia commanded as she made her way back into the open. Before she could Tendaji stopped her.

"Forget this group, we should go back to the homeland."

"Stay in that form and stay quiet" Flare said as the changeling nodded as he went back and saw Delia and Tendaji. "Oh hey Delia and....Tendaji was it" Flare said as the changeling who was a mare at the time was behind him. "So any way where are you two heading" Flare asked
