For me, I highly doubt it.  While it *SPOILER ALERT* offers insight on Cadence's past, I highly doubt that, in any way, it'll become the S4 premiere, or any S4 episode for that matter.  I mean, Twilight still moves back to Ponyville, but she still has to deal with running all of Equestria, almost at the expense of her studies and friends.  She might even end up inadvertently create chaos in Equestria, namely by means of cracking under the pressure, like she did over a tardy friendship report in Lesson Zero.  Sure, her friends would eventually come by and help her restore order in Equestria, but it's at that point that she realizes that running a nation is not a good replacement for studies and friends, and thus asks Princess Celestia permission to resign.  Celestia would eventually accept the resignation, and return Twilight to a unicorn.

Do you think there's a possibility that it'll be the S4 premiere, or an S4 episode in-general?

EDIT: Changed the thread's title to make it easier to understand.

Okay OP, can you atleast make the post more understandable? What are you talking about, please tell me. Are you saying your prediction about how Twi will crack and ask Celly to turn her back or are you talking about the crystal heart?

Well I don't think the premier is going to have anything to do with the Crystal heart really, the premier is suppose to continue on the finale per say, in like a 3 parter with parts 2 and 3 being the premier of S4.

Its possible it could show up as another episode I guess, I wouldn't doubt something explaining Cadence maybe showing up, but it won't be the premier.

Also I think its already been confirmed in tweets by members of the staff of MLP that they're sticking with Alicorn Twi in season 4. So I don't think she'll crack under the pressure, plus shes grown alot since "Lesson Zero", heck in "Games Ponies play" She is relatively calm and keeps that way by taking deep breaths, so I imagine she'll be alot harder to crack under pressure then previously.

However she is also suppose to stay in Ponyville, so from that standpoint I wouldn't worry.

I'm talking about the upcoming novel.  It has Twilight ask Cadence how she became an alicorn princess herself, then learns that she'll always be herself, even as an alicorn.

Well, when the Mane Six discovered that the pony they were escorting wasn't the games inspector, Twilight panicked, and not even her deep breaths could help her cope with that.  Granted, they do find the games inspector, and she declares the Crystal Empire the new sight of the Equestria Games.  However, Twilight is dealing with running an entire nation, which is actually much worse than a tardy friendship report.

And, do you have the tweets saying that Alicorn Twilight will be permanent?  If so, I highly doubt what you've actually said.  Who knows?  They might surprise us and change Twilight back to a unicorn, just so that Rarity could have a same-species counterpart just like the four main ponies!

Well its possible I guess, I still think with some help she'll cope fine, I mean I wouldn't be against it, and she may panic some, but I don't think she'll have a breakdown or anything. Who knows for sure.

Also I don't have the tweets on hand, but I can tell you I saw a couple from the producers being posted, but I don't have a twitter so I don't really have any effective way to access it, but I did see them I'll tell you that much. Same with her staying in Ponyville.

So unless Hasbro is just trolling us, they're probably keeping Princess Twilight, not that I would be opposed to them turning her back, but I think that from what they've said and how things have gone it just doesn't seem very likely.

I'm still confident they'll pull of a great season regardless though :).

That novel's apparently canon. So I doubt that after Twilight going through so much trouble for that spell that they'll have her resign the title and wings.

I'm not saying that it's canon, which I understand it is.  All I'm asking is if it will become an actual episode, perhaps even the two-part S4 premiere!

I seriously hope not.I read that novel. That novel is just shallow and cheesy. I know it's for little kids. But oh my god, considering the vast world Equestria is set in, they go for some silly repetative takes on things. Only thing worthwhile is the fact that two popular characters return, and are apparently buddies now. But they've been demoted to lackeys, heck novel even calls them that.

Don't worry, it probably won't.  I mean, look at the comics; even though they take place between Seasons 2 and 3, it's highly unlikely that any of its storylines will turn into actual episodes.  Likewise with The Crystal Heart Spell book; it'll just be an interquel that sets the stage for the S4 premiere, and I highly doubt that, as Ficta_Scripto once said, it's a sign that Princess Twilicorn is permanent.  If the writers have no problem catering us through Trixie and Discord's returns, then surely, just surely they'll have no problem catering to our desire for old, regular, unicorn Twilight, regardless of how they do it.

Otherwise... well, you saw me try to promote an Anti-Twilicorn protest movement on Facebook.

Well, the way they led up to Princess Twilicorn just felt so arbitrary.  I mean, before she can become princess, she switches up her friends' cutie-marks, only to switch them back and finish an unfinished spell?  How come her friends get to return to normal, while Twilight is forced against her will to become abnormal compared to her friends?  Again, it just felt so powerfully arbitrary.

Also, the writers once said that Twilicorn wouldn't happen, and they were actually trolling with us.  That means they're trolling with us again, only this time on Princess Twilicorn being permanent.

I am actually wondering what are you going to do if they dont change her back. You said there will be hell to pay, however Fan letters wont do the job and other stuff will get you to jail.

We've had many fan-protests throughout the history of geek culture, such as Optimus Prime's resurrection, Sonic's good games, Hal Jordan's resurrection and redemption, and Mass Effect 3's ending.  It should be appropriate to have a protest against Princess Twilicorn as well.

I think the Season 4 two part opening could be alicorn Twilight go Lesson Zero over being a new princess.

Unless a brandnew villain pops up.

That's a possibility.

I mean, it's just not enough to have Twilight stay princess and stay in Ponyville.  She has to do either one or the other, so as to make sense toward whatever character they're trying to make her out to be.  This is why I believe that Twilight will just freak out over the stress of running a country, and repeat the events of Lesson Zero, only this time on a much grander scale.  Though, by the end, her friends come to the rescue, but as soon as order is restored in Equestria, Twilight decides to resign from royalty and give up her wings, after learning how much of a nightmare it is, and how it's never going to replace her friends.

SHE IS NOT RUNNING A NATION, our just assuming things, She is at most splitting Ponyvill with the pony mayor.

stop acting like your assumation is canon

And if any time she panics, like in Lesson Zero?

And, please don't include her learning to stay calm in Games Ponies Play.  She still almost panicked in that episode.

I think that Twilight still has a great deal to learn before running an entire nation...Celestia even hinted at that saying that Twilight will be her student just in a different way...I think they are eventually going to her take Celestia's role as ruler when she retires (or whatever near immortal or immortal alicorn rulers do).

She has demonstrated the basic of being ruler, thus making her an alicorn and a princess, but she has so much more to learn.

And with this new novel thing...wow, did not know they are doing that...they are really milking the Twilacorn thing for all they can get (talking about Hasbro)

  • 3 weeks later...

possibly, i thin its an interesting idea but it seems a little lazy on DHX's part. Also Hasbro has made it clear that merchandise and publications are not cannon, only what happens in actual episodes. so the crystal heart spell is not cannon until it is referenced or actually made into an episode.

Actually it isn't. It contradicts show canon in a couple of important places, like Trixie's return and the event of Games Ponies Play.

And I don't think it will be made into an episode at any point. I'm sure that if the show deals with Cadance's transformation, they'll do it in their own way.

It likely only contradicts those events because the book was written before those episodes were aired. The author was obviously privy to inside information about "Magical Mystery Cure" before it aired, but likely wasn't given information about episodes the show's writers didn't deem relevant to the books plot.

I don't think the Crystal Heart Spell novel will be going to the two-part Season 4 premiere. I guess, it could be possible but there are a lot of speculations that could occur in the Season 4 premiere.

I don't think the season premiere well involve the Crystal Heat Spell novel. For one, it would just seem odd to sell a book and then make a episode from the book. They would not make any money that way.

I think the 2 parter well involve Twilight and the presser of being a Princess. Kinda want to see her be more defiant towards Celestia because she feels she is not ready. Then something bad happens.

Overall I don't see the book being a episode.

That still doesn't make it canon. The show is canon, the comics are canon if you want them to be, and the book can't be canon when it contradicts the show, despite the fact that it was written while season 3 was being written.

Just read the book last night. It plays out very much like a typical episode, but there are a few reasons why I now doubt it will ever be made one.

--Gilda and Trixie are the "antagonists"

--Its somewhat anticlimactic, making it fairly unlikely to be a 2-parter

--Twilight travels back and forth between the crystal empire and ponyville like twice

That being said, i would consider the book canon seeing as the contradtictions to the show are pretty minor.
