Qty - Cutie 20 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 (edited) Hello. So I wanted to talk about dubstep and glitch hop, and if someone don't know what is Glitch hop, so listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOM16JAFkK0 - 0:35 is the start. So I wanted to ask, whats your opinion about dubstep and Glitch hop? So I'll be first, I really love dubstep, and especially when It's related to MLP, and the reason why I love it so much is that I'm 14 years old and as all the teenagers I have my opinion about music, somebody hates dubstep, but I love it. I will be willing to hear about your thoughts about dubstep too. ;D Glitch hop.. It's very interesting genre of music, but it's very similar to dubstep, but there is more feelings and vocals. So I love it as much as I love dubstep. Hope 'yall love it to. Sincerly, Qty. Edited March 18, 2013 by Artemis fixed tags, added prefix
Concord 1,982 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 (edited) Hello! Personally, i dislike dubstep. I never got the idea of notes just bombing your head to be, pleasing... It's not to my tastes, but i respect the people that listen to it... Maybe it does require large ammounts of music knowlege to produce such music, but i'm not expert in that genre... So to conclude, no, i don't like Dubstep. Edited March 18, 2013 by Artemis Thank you MatrixChicken for the Signature!
Dashmagic 19 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 I listen to a ton of Dubstep, and basically any other electronic genre. I'm 16, so it's not that out of place. But then, Pinkie Pie starts singing the chorus and all of a sudden I'm "weird" again. Yeah, other electronic genres (eurobeat, etc) are cool too. Some people don't like dubstep but I like it. /)
Milk Wave 454 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 (edited) About that song you put in your comment. I personally think its a mix between glitch/electro from how it has the beat. Doesnt seem to have much 'glitchy' notes though since it has a similar structure to Reptile by Skrillex. ((Edit since derping out sucks)) My opionion for dubstep and such is an odd one. I personally love dubstep but only specific kinds. Why only specific kinds? Because some stuff to me is just plain horrible. Ive listened to one song before with barely anything in it. All it had was some notes and a beat and that's all. What im looking for in dubstep is: ((Edit again)) -BASS -Some wierd but lots of drum notes in the background -Lots of different sounds as compared to like 4 -Dramatic notes that can catch my eye. Some of the songs I listen to doesnt always have that, but I still love it since its got at least 3 of what I like in there. ((Edit number 3)) Its quite cool how some people get into dubstep. Personally, I got into it from Viscra showing me some, and the fact that before I heard about any of that, I used to listen to hard rock songs with my dad. Since this is hard electro at its dirtiest, I fell in love with it. Im fairly glad I found this topic so that I could post my own opionion about this c: Edited March 18, 2013 by Moon Wave A shoutout to Dr-Whooves for making this sweet thing~ Anyway, go ahead and visit my http://mlpforums.com/user/380-sirius-crescent/'>About Me page for my characters :3 Engaged to Steel Crescent as of 5/1/2013
-BleachedOne- 233 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 I love all types of electronically synthesized music. Glitch and Hardstyle are my top favorite genres, but DnB and Dubstep are close followups. Gotta love glitch. Ever hear of an artist named Cryptex? He's been around for a year now, he's 18, and he's out there producing glitch tracks like a pro. I highly recommend his album Isolated Incidents, though my personal favorite of his is Slay It. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lM07iiGKoo ~Seraphim~ ~:What's so fun about firing at targets that aren't moving?:~ Yakumo Yukari ~Touhou Project~
Creamy Arty 6,252 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 @Qty - Cutie Your thread was more appropriate for the Media Discussion forum, so I moved it there. Just thought I would let you know. Most of the content produced by brony artists seems to be dubstep, and I've always enjoyed that, but "generic" dubstep doesn't do it for me. The only non-brony dubstep I've liked is the kind that Blackmill creates. Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! Twinhead B 482 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 Dubstep in my opinion has been soured by Skrillex's popularity explosion. The music industry for the most part only wants Skrillex clonesbecause he's the flavor of the month. As such, alot of artists who had their own, unique styles have sort of devolved into Skrillex knock-offs (artists like Knife Party and Datsik come to mind), and it sort of ruins the style for me. Thankfully we have labels like Ultra Records and mau5trap that look past the Skrill-clones to find the real diamonds in the rough. Moog the Kvlt 1,460 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 (edited) I used to like Dubstep music, but then I grew out of it Now I pretty much hate the whole genre itself There isn't even a handful of Dubstep music that I can sit through The only exceptions from me that I can think of at this moment Are Blackmill and Zeds Dead's remix of Eyes on Fire Edited March 18, 2013 by Moogeon (#YIFF)
Soundgarden 2,758 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 If you want to listen to real Dubstep, listen to Skream, Benga, Kode9, Coki, Mala or DJ Hatcha. Here are some example of old school dubstep, which is in my opinion the best kind of Dubstep Old School Dubstep focuses on the Wobble Bass and the Sub-Bass, rather than drops and retarded sounds These are the more popular examples, more Underground ones include Kode9 - Black Sun, Skream - Dutch Flowerz and Benga - Baltimore Clap, to name a few
Klopp 2,051 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 I'm a fan of all kinda of music, really, but not too big on dubstep. It doesn't really bother me like a lot of others, most of the time, however some songs are just a pain on my ears. Some dubstep music I have found to my liking, but it's very rare. However I don't particularly dislike it either. I'm pretty much neutral about it, and certainly don't go out of my way to listen to it.

I guess you can say the reasons why are because they just seem too repetitive in a way. Yes they might retain the 'wobble bass' but.. Moog the Kvlt 1,460 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 Downtempo Experimental Dubstep is actually quite interesting to listen to Some guy was jamming around on his Modular synth And he had gotten some weird sounding Dubstep on it If you ask me it's different, but different in a good way
Throwaway19573639385 764 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 I LOVE LOVE LOVE dubstep, I don't really like glitch hop though, just a few of them are really good but the rest don't feel right though. A Blithering Div 247 March 19, 2013 Share March 19, 2013 Like Dubstep. Not the Skrillex rubbish though. I like the more liquid stuff. Unfortunately I don't have that big of a collection as the 5 artists I do follow haven't done much since I found them. Pandora hasn't played much in the way of it either. Anywho this is the style I listen to: I know I'm not the greatest at finding music but it does seem a bit difficult finding this kind of stuff. Even Pandora is like "We see you like Skream, so here's some Blentec'd sid chip!" I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?
Qty - Cutie 20 March 31, 2013 Author Share March 31, 2013 It's nice to see people that likes Dubstep as much as I do. But for those who doesn't I have only one thing to say - It's your life, so it's your choice what you like, and what you don't. So okey. I think this theard is very good too, if someone wanted to find some new dubstep.
Hansel 1,512 March 31, 2013 Share March 31, 2013 Not a huge fan of Dubstep, but I do like some of the "off-shoot" genres, like Glitchstep and a little bit of Brostep. Glitch Hop, on the other hand, I love. Dat ain't Glitch Hop, though. This is Glitch Hop: Pancakes taste like well seasoned DVD cases.
