Hey again, another Hair brained scheme

 

There appears to be a number of great artists nesting here with us.

So what if some of these artists become more "official"

As in you can commission work from them and a part of the profit goes to the site to keep it running, while the rest goes to the artist.

It could serve as another source of income for the site

 

Once again, feel free to shoot this idea down, Im just thinking alot, and its like 1 in the morning

I was waiting for something like this to appear, i once got this on another forum where they actually did it, don't get me wrong it is a good idea because a lot of the artists are amazing but you need to take in mind the other artists, i mean they all are good in their own way but those who don't become "Official" would then turn and think that instantly means that their art isn't good and those who are official are drastically better then them, this is what happened on the other forums that i was talking about earlier and once this happened those who weren't made the official artists just stopped drawing all together, also just remember if it did happen not all artists would be selected even some of those who you or other member's think is an amazing/professional artist.

Thats why it needs to be explained to people. Just like staff and such, not everypony will be able to become an official artist. You would need skill obviously BUT you would also need to show other traits that would normally appear in staff members and such... I think people would understand

 

Also im nto sure if it already exists O_O

I never heard of it if it does.

 

Perhaps a mod or someone can elighten us on the situation?

Understand? Not really There's the Commissions section, it's got artists making art, and I don't think we need to create any sort of hierarchy that'll just complicate things. Unless you can elaborate your idea differently, I can't say I'm on board.

Its mainly just me overthinking...

 

But the way I was talking was that perhaps a few people take commissions on behalf of the site for its members. The profits from them are then split to go between the forum and the artist themselves. Basically just an added profit.

That's how it works, actually - ever commission you buy through the commission threads results in a small portion of the money earned going back to the forum.

No worries. If anything, this thread tells me that this is something that we should probably put a bit more focus on in the future, so that people are more likely to know all of this from the get-go.
