Would you like Ex-Royal Guards as Villains?

That'd actually be pretty interesting. But, I feel like it'd be executed at its' best, if the show were a bit more lenient on its' serious themes, and dark themes. The Royal Guards are essentially the military force that keeps Canterlot together, especially the Royal Palace. So, the best plot in my eyes would be one of the Ex-Captains of the Royal Guard (like what Shining Armor used to be), organizing a group of rebel guards who decide for themselves that the princesses, and their decisions as of late are evidence that they are unfit for ruling any longer.

For example, they may have been completely against Celestia's decision to bring back Discord. They'd still see him as an evil creature that cannot be trusted. They could also be against the princess's decision to bring Twilight onto the throne, as they may see her as too young and inexperienced. That, among other things, would have lead to this coup d'état. They would then take over Canterlot, perhaps somehow successfully repress Celestia and Luna, and it'd be up to Twi and friends to sort the matter out, and get the guards to try and see reason.

But, realistically, that'd be the sort of thing that'd happen in the comics, not the show. As we know, the comics are fully capable of taking liberties on the darkness factor. They're three times darker than the show is at the most intense of times tongue.png Which I think is great. Wonderful contrast.

I love this idea to be honest, it just seems very intresting, and it looks to suit the show, I would love to see it in the incoming future.

I just simply love the idea of it, I don't mind how it's Played aslong as it works,

Example if they were Against Bringing Twilight on the Throne, Or Similar Reasons, I would think it would work,

But I would Only think it would happen in FanFics, or Such Similar, Not the actually show, it seems a bit dark,

and it wouldn't be the best thing to include in a Show Like so, Such as Betrayal, The thoughts that would go through the minds of young Children, Though Older Bronies tend to watch the show, we can't forget it's originally a Little Kids Show.

I think what makes this idea good is that all the villains so far have had no previous position in well-respected Canterlot society. Nightmare Moon swooped down from the moon, Discord came from a statue, Sombra came from nowhere, the Changelings came from wherever the Changelings live. The similarities between them are evident - they launch an exterior attack on the place, and have never been viewed as an asset to Canterlot, Ponyville, or wherever prior to their villainy.

But what if they have? That could be a great use of OP's idea. There are all sorts of possibilities for if someone who was previously in the highest order of Canterlot's military, approved and admired by their residents, turn irreversibly into an antagonist. There would be the dilemma of whether the only way to defeat them is to vanquish them, or whether there's any room for reverting them back to the useful military figure that they once were. The latter would be more dangerous, but more ultimately helpful; the former would be safer but would result in a loss of a good bank of security for Canterlot.

Now I really want to see this happen. :3

If they did this, I would probably pick up watching the show again solely for that episode. Although it's been subtly hinted at that Equestria is not a perfect world, we haven't seen much that pertains to a more overt problem.

That, and it'd be very interesting to see what they come up with...or not...

Actually, I like this idea alot. And I hope that they do it. but I Don't think they can pull it off in two episodes. maybe they can have the villain royal gaurds somehow win but run away and say something like "This isn't over." . It would be nice to see hte mane six lose for once

  • 4 weeks later...

It'd be interesting if they were led by some old enemy, possibly Discord! He would have reason to convince them to change, and influence them to become evil!

I type quickly, why is it an error...
