I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a play on old mythology, so that is interesting. It just depends on how well you tell that story. The better the writing for your backstory, the better it will fit, and the more interesting it will be.

Pleasant? No, I definitely don't think so. Considering the dangers in the Everfree, I don't think a pony would be comfortable living there. Just doesn't make much sense to me.

Pretty sure if you tried to live in the Everfree Forest, you'd be eaten fairly quickly. I mean, in the first episode, the ponies were scared out of their minds of the Everfree Forest. And then they go in there, and get attacked by a native Manticore. And then in a later episode, Twilight Sparkle gets turned into stone by a Cockatrice. And don't forget about those Timberwolves.

And before someone points out that Zecora lives there, perhaps she comes from a land that is much wilder than Equestria. Maybe she's used to depending herself, unlike the peaceful ponies. Maybe she's got some magic charm or brew to ward off those creatures. Point is, she is a different species and lives differently than ponies do, on a regular basis. If a pony just decided to move there, I don't think they'd stand a chance.

Well, Daring Doo likes the jungle and Zecora likes the Everfree Forest. Though I don't think any of them are born there.

 

It would be cool if like, there was a.. Tarzan pony! Who were raised in the forest!.... Nah that is a piece of shit idea when I think about it.. C:

Daring Do is also fictional, and I don't know that she likes having spears and poison darts thrown at her and snakes dropped on her. I doubt she lives in a forest either, she just goes on adventures there. But in her episode, you can see the danger, and the fact that she very well could have perished. So, compare that to a normal pony and not an adventurer, and they're probably toast.

So long as iris fleshed out well and seems sensible with decent backstory that I think it's a great idea !

 

Just make sure you give good detail to the backstory, especially when it's off the wall as I find things need better explaining when they are .
