Poll: How many episodes you've disliked in the show so far?

Really if you ask me I'm 50/50 on the episodes. MLP to me is just one of those series that has gems inside of it's wasteland, half of it is good, while the other half isn't, but it's worth going through to find all of those little gems within it. I could really go out on an endless list of episodes that I hate or just don't enjoy.

Games Ponies Play: Only read the script, and I know how much I'm gonna hate it. Pretty simply, the characterization is so idiotic that I wonder how this shit got approved in the first place!

 

You know, during that episode's airdate, I didn't even bother watching that episode after five minutes into it. I had a feeling it would be bad, definitely not what I'm normally used to seeing, and from the get-go it felt really disjointed. Lo and behold, you of all people highlight how bad it is so I know I did a good thing by avoiding it.

I am not really one to actively dislike specific episodes of TV shows.  I think for me there are just degrees of enjoyment.  I can't think of any specific episode of any TV show that I would cite as a "bad" episode.  Speaking only of shows that I like, of course.

I'm fairly lenient with these sort of things. I have very few episodes I single out. Part of this is because all it takes is one moment I adored for the episode to become saved from my 'don't like' list. For example, I didn't really like The Show Stoppers much, but the minor scene where Dash showed up to pick up Scootaloo with AJ and Rarity who picked up Apple Bloom and Sweetie accordingly made my heart melt cause Scootalove reference.

 

Anywho, I've read through all three of the season lists, and I can only see two episodes that definitely stick out. Mare Do Well, and Ponyville Confidential. Mare Do Well, basically because of what's portrayed in this humorous comic mocking the episode. Dash was being a bitch more than usual, yes, but her friends then decided to 'fix her good' by being passive aggressive.

 

Then, Ponyville Confidential had way more Diamond Tiara (worst pony) than I cared to stand :3

 

There are plenty of episodes I've thought were 'eh', aka that I'm indifferent about, but yeah, I don't dislike many.

BTW I was looking at Wikipedia's episode list, and where was Amy Keating Rogers in S3?! She's my favorite writer! She did A Dog and Pony Show, The Best Night Ever, A Friend in Deed and The Last Roundup! She got NO episodes in S3. Now I'm starting to like it even less.

 

Amy left during season 3 to work on Care Bears. Do not fret though, she is back, and is confirmed to be a writer for season 4. I love her episodes as well, so I am thrilled that she's back.

 

I don't think there's any episodes that I dislike. I'll gladly watch any of them, but for the sake of participation, I'll go over my least favorites.

 

Boast Busters - I for one don't have a problem with how the Mane Six treated Trixie. My problem lies in the fact that it's just boring, and it features Snips and Snails, who I positively can't stand.

 

Stare Master - This episode has a lot of voice errors among the Crusaders which bugs me. It's also the one episode where the Crusaders were more annoying than cute or lovable. Savino has a way of writing characters to be annoying, perhaps intentional, but it hurts my liking of his episodes.

 

Owl's Well That Ends Well - I don't have much against this episode other than it's a bit boring, and Spike wasn't too likable.

 

Luna Eclipsed - No Rarity, Luna's Royal Canterlot voice becomes grating after a while, the humor was weak, and the plot was just moronic. I feel it's just really overrated because Luna's in it.

 

Baby Cakes - Another babysitting episode. Still not interesting. The episode consists of baby humor and Pinkie Pie driving herself crazy. It's just flat.

 

Games Ponies Play - This episode is all over the place, it's incredibly boring, and it's an overused plot with a predictable ending. Fluttershy and Applejack were nonexistent. It's just mediocre.

Season One:

1. Boast Busters: Simply because of the way the characters were handled in response to Trixie. The episode front to back was a royally mixed bag, and the conflict was needless.
2. Over a Barrel: I never watched the episode, but I read the script, and I know already how much I'm going to dislike it. Polsky ponified the conflict between the European settlers and Natives and trivialized it. So I'm skipping this shit over.
3. Owl's Well that Ends Well. One of the first truly BAD episodes of the series. Out-of-character personalities for both Twilight and Spike, and the aesop dragged on for far too long.

Season Two:

1. May the Best Pet Win!: Rainbow Dash, you can be a jerk occasionally, but you're a really big jerk here. It wasn't objectively good, but not objectively terrible. But certainly not very enjoyable.
2. The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well: EVERYONE was obnoxiously out of character! Dash's fragile ego was amplified beyond comprehension, and her friends acted like major jackasses. This comic details why this episode's so bad and too detestable to even enjoy. It's not a "so-bad-it's-good" episode. It's a "so-bad-you-want-to-bang-your-head-on-a-steel-chair-and-throw-up" episode. It's one of two episodes I watched only once because of how stupid TMMDW is.
3. Hearts and Hooves Day: The episode got way too random for my liking, and the way the episode was resolved was an unlikeable, out-of-character atrocity!

Season Three:

1. Spike at Your Service: Spike was written so badly here to the point of careless. He knows damn well how to cook and clean and understands what to expect from his friends.
2. Just for Sidekicks: My most hated episode in season three (second-most hated overall). Spike didn't forget how to cook, but he was written so AWFUL here, too. Instead of being needlessly careless, he willingly severed the trust his friends had over him, a contradiction of the lessons he learned from Secret of My Excess and Dragon Quest.
3. Games Ponies Play: Only read the script, and I know how much I'm gonna hate it. Pretty simply, the characterization is so idiotic that I wonder how this shit got approved in the first place!

So, right now, I'd say more than ten, but because I never watched Over a Barrel and Games Ponies Play, five to ten.

GPP is bad yeah

 

OaB is actually pretty good - when I saw what they were trying to do I cringed at first, but they made cool characters and a decent plot. So yeah, it's not the best but they did a good job for a really sensitive topic. Plus Pinkie accidently starts a war by singing.

I don't think that there is such a thing as an objectively "bad" episode.  The one I enjoyed the least is someone else's favorite.  They all took a lot of time and thought and effort to make.  They all have their positive qualities.

Well to be honest I don't dislike an episode

I have watches every episode more then once and honestly I enjoyed them. That's not to say there are episodeds I didn't like as much or I would have liked them better, but for what it is I enjoy them and I don't have an actual episode I dislike.

But that's just me, and honestly that's the answer

 

It's all based on opinions. You may like and episode and think it is the best and find a person that hates that episode to death. I have come accross these situations and honestly it's all opinion.

There is no bad or good episode. It's just personal opinion.

I liked the Myserious Mare Do Well, there I said it. Are you going to sue me? People hate this episode, and you know what, fine. I get what people are saying and I do see the problems, but for some reason I still enjoy it. I don't know what it is, but I enjoy the episode.

 

It all opinions. A "bad" episode is just your opinions. There is no such things as a "bad" episode since I have found that every episode is liked by at least one person.

I have not heard of one episode that not a single person liked or enjoyed. Proof that there is no bad episod, just plane opinions.

There are some episodes I prefer to watch over others but none of them are distracting enough for me to flat out dislike. Although if I have to pick a character that has the most mediocre feeling episodes as a whole, it may have to be most of Spike centric episodes (Particularly the one's in Season 3).

It's because you secretly know that it is in fact the best Rainbow Dash episode.

I only really dislike one episode... Baby Cakes. It just wasn't all too fun to me. There are a few other episodes that are less than amazing, but I don't really dislike them.

 

Those episodes are, believe it or not, mostly CMC episodes.

Didn't really dislike any episodes because I enjoyed the overall show. There are some episodes I watch more then others though.

Not 100% sure, so i'll say 5 to 10 right now because we're up to 65 episodes.  MMC is probably the one I dislike the most, and I mostly gave it a passing grade because of how M.A. Larson wrote it to be a musical to keep the audience entertained.  There was just too many things left open that shouldn't have been, not to mention I dislike Twilight being turned into an alicorn/princess, but that's in the past, it happened, and it just has to be accepted.

I've enjoyed every episode of the show so far! I can't think of any of them that I haven't enjoyed! Even the slightly weaker episodes are still very good!

While some episodes didn't stand out to me as particularly meaningful, interesting, or exciting, there aren't any episodes that I would say I dislike. Stare Master might be my least favorite because the CMC were grating on my nerves as much as they were Fluttershy's that day, but that's not to say that I didn't like it.
