This have been disturbing me for a while, but do you think Twilight being a princess and all will ruin a part of her Friendship with the Mane 6? I mean she might not have as much time with them anymore now that she is a princess, or might she actually be a princess over Friendship?

You see my point?

Yes :3 Twilight will no longer have time for her friends, and her friendships will slowly begin to disintegrate. She will eventually lose all ties with the other Mane Six, become a lonely princess who lost sight of the very thing that made her a princess in the first place. Ultimately, the show will have to be renamed My Little Princess: Friendships aren't Forever.

Is this really the answer you're looking for? Because you do realize every fiber of the show, its' very essence, says this won't happen. I believe she'll either remain as a princess in Ponyville itself, either being a 'friendship' princess like you've mentioned, or become a princess of the dawn/dusk/twilight, like her name implies. Or maybe the stars.

Being part of royalty in any way does not ruin a friendship that you have with friends, unless your greedy with power.

Since Twilight knows how to control herself from being greedy or corrupt, it won't ruin the friendship that she has with her friends. Even if they aren't immortal just yet, nothing will change anything that they share as a friendship.

Well, i might say that answer was a little bit "Harsh" i didn't really mean that way XD I meant more like that she will start to lose contact with them more and more and as she starting to realise it's "Almost" to late. But she exactly have enough time to get her friends back and she will start to care more for her friends and such. =)

And what so ever i voted wrong on that poll hehe XD It was meant to be maybe :P

More realistic, but still implausible. They don't need to have an episode about realizing how important her friends are, per say, that's what the pilot episodes were about :3 Something about getting caught up in responsibilities and not giving yourself enough time to relax and enjoy the company of your friends would be interesting, though. 'Don't be a workaholic, give yourself a break'. Would be the theme, and it fits Twi's personality well.

Ask yourself.. If your best friend became a Princess/Prince wouldn't you be slightly jealous? Understanding that the title "Princess" is an earned title in Equestria I think it may not affect her friendships as much as previously thought. I do however think it will change the flavor of the show. If Twilight has to use her title functionally in a role of authority and governance then it defiantly will affect her relationships. Again.. I don't see this happening because Ponyville has a Mayor and Equestria already has a Royal Family to lead it. It just hints to me that isn't permanent at all.

That was kind of what i had in mind actually. As it as you mentioned would fit her personality very well. But haven't we seen that as well in the pilots where she kind of realises work isn't the most important thing in life. Or have i missunderstood you?

No, the pilot was about not giving friends a chance and preferring to be a hermit. This would be about taking work and responsibility above friends, even if you don't realize it.

It could be possible that the frinedship would change, but not end. It would only end because of something catostrophic. It would most likely change because of location. Twilight is up in Canterlot, and the others are in ponyville.

Yes. But no more so than if she completed her training and went back to work for Princess Celestia in a more mundane role. And no more so than Rainbow Dash travelling around Equestria as a Wonderbolt or Rarity going to Manehattan or where-have-you to do fashion for the elite. Some of the ponies simply have dreams and ambitions they can't fulfill within the bounds of Ponyville and that's that. Their friendship won't end, it'll just be stretched and attenuated.

Eeeh. Say what you wan't about my opinion here, but I kinda want it to hurt her friendships. I would like an episode where her friends feel like they're being ignored and cast aside because of her newly found duties. I like that sort of stuff, wouldn't wan't them to completely end their friendship though.

Realistically, I would expect it to alter their relationship at least a little. Not necessarily ruin a part of it, but it might make it feel noticeably different for Twilight or somepony else. As for whether the show will touch on this, I doubt it unless the Alicorn transformation is temporary, which it likely won't be.

Twilight only got to the position she is in with the help of her friends, and as shown in Magical Mystery Cure, she knows that.  I am sure she feels, and knows, that during this big change in her life she needs her friends more than ever.

Plus, from a show production standpoint, thinking that the writers/directors/etc are going to be pulling Twilight away from her friends, with the possible exception of it being a plot point for episodes 1 + 2, is preposterous. wink.png

Yes and no. I like her as an Alicorn, then I dont. I liked it when it was her as a powerful unicorn. Its hard to tell whether it'll ruin it, because shes a princess BECAUSE of friendship. Its a mystery!!

I don't think I could have said it any better myself.  Personally, I 100% do not like her as an alicorn, and feel it shouldn't have happened in the first place.  With that said however, people who "reasonably state" Twilight ascending to the role of a princess doesn't harm who she is until proven otherwise.  What really set people like me off is the little scene in the episode before MMC where Cadence is "coaching" Twilight in how to remain calm.  The little exercise has quite the regal overtone, and does give plausible belief towards the idea of Twilight changing from the adorkable unicorn we came to love, into a regal princess pony like her mentor Celestia.

With Season 4, I can definitely see an episode where Twilight worries about her friends growing resentful/concerned of her status as a princess.  I could definitely see ponies looking at those stained glass windows in the Canterlot Throne Room and saying "ooooo, it's princess Twilight," with a little colt/filly commenting "who are those ponies around her?" to which the mother/father replies "they're her attendants/assistants," which starts things off as Twilight feels her new role degrades her friends.  This would grow as the episode progresses, where more ponies are "bugging" Twilight with royal duties and interrupting precious time with her friends.  It could culminate into the end where the adorkable pony makes the call if she wants to be a princess or not.  You could even have the episode elaborate on the history of alicorns/princess where there are some that ascend to that state and refuse the power.  Their choices vary, but some refuse the power because they feel it is too cumbersome and remain their normal race.

I'll be PO'd if Hasbro abuses that opportunity to sell more pretty, pretty princess crap, yet I can see the writers properly utilizing it to say that Celestia acts as a guide to ponies that can ascend to alicorn status, and Luna used to accompany her but can't anymore or chooses not to do it, feeling it robs ponies of their lives.  Could even say that Chrysalis was a princess and she became corrupted with the lust and admiration of her subjects to the point they all became condemned.  The reason Celestia and Luna don't know about Chrysalis is that the princess Chrysalis used to be dropped off the map and was never found.

I highly doubt it would. Although it would make an interesting plot for an episode. I think probably the other mane 6 would even have a bigger part to play in all this, they are her friends after all... :derp:

If they were to be in any way realistic about it, this *would* have an impact on her friendships.  This is the kind of thing that happens sometimes when a friend of yours is essentially now part of a different social standing, different *world*.  That kind of development is going to change relationships, change priorities, jealousy could be an issue, etc.

For the writers not to acknowledge this in any way would be a big mistake, IMO.

Without question it will have an impact on her relationship with her friends and yes petty jealousy and other issues which may cause a strain in her relationships are likely but know this show they will find ways to overcome those issues and challenges as they come up after all friendship is magic.

I just really wan't an episode where Twilight is emotionally broken and a wreck, but then all of her friends come and lift her spirits. I just wanna see the new princess broken and helpless, for a limited time that is.

Well her friends seems pretty happy for Twilight being a princess and we all know how Twilight is about her friends. Twilight isn't one to abuse her power out anything of the like to put her friendship into jeopardy.

Hell, I even bet Twilight would sacrifice her new princess state for her friends of it came down to it.

Indeed.  Not to mention that if things progress to the point where that friend doesn't acknowledge the accomplishments of others that got them to where they are, either due to greed and lust of oneself or because they want to but can't because others won't listen, it will create that void/gap.

I will admit I don't like Twilight's alicorn transformation.

But that doesn't mean nopony else does!

I'm sure as a princess Twilight will be certain to make time for her friends, and, if not, at least write a letter to apologize. And if she can't even do that, I'm sure her friends would understand.
