private Romancing the plains(reboot)

Apple Doom walked with the group for some time now. He was quite content with the current situation between him and Aurea. They had been through some stuff together, but they managed to pull through it all. As the group continued to walk they noticed a black cloud coming close to them. At first it appeared to be a passing storm cloud.  Apple Doom immediately noticed something was off about the so called cloud. It was making noise and coming closer.  Apple Doom closed his eyes and tried to think of any mention of these strange clouds.

It dawned on him what it really was: A swarm of the love parasites known as Changelings. He yelled out to the group to brace for one tough fight. As the Changeling swarm landed, Chetnik charged head first taking out a large amount of the parasites. As soon as Chetnik recovered from his attack, more arrived in the hundreds. Hunter regretfully pulled out her hoofgun ad began shooting at them. Apple Doom bucked and stomped as many as he could possibly do.

                Apple Doom noticed something different about the horde. They were surprisingly hostile and relentless. While the fighting was going on a Royal Guard had been scouting the area for bandits. He saw the commotion and signaled for more guards to rush in as well as calling in a Changeling specialist.  As the guards rushed in they pulled the three members out:  Apple Doom, Chetnik, and Hunter.

All three were badly hurt and were unconscious. As they came to several hours later they were in a hospital in Canterlot. The three were all in the same room as the head Guard trotted in. He began to explain that the group was emitting strong love auras which drew the Changelings to them.  Changing the tone of his voce he began to explain that the rest of the group was killed in the attack. He also explained how they put gravestones at the attack site to commemorate the fallen travelers.  The three could not help but to express their grief.

 

1 year later

Apple Doom walked out of the hospital with a large bandage around his body. Don’t work so hard next time, or else your wound will open up again. A hospital mare called out. Apple Doom let out a sigh of annoyance.  “Whatever. I don’t even care anymore.” He said.  The one year anniversary of the death of his sweetheart was coming up and Apple Doom had to do it all over again: travel from Appaloosa to the other side of the plains. He packed his new and improved cart with necessities and other items and set off to Appaloosa.  As he arrived he immediately went to the meeting point where he had first met the others and took a long swig of alcohol. He then muttered the phrase Same ‘Stuff’ Different Day.

Ocean trotted out of the Appleloosa train station. She had just gotten off the train from Canterlot and was happy to be on solid ground...but wasn't as happy about the hot sun.

She trotted through the small town in search of where she would be meeting the rest of the travelers until she found a colt drinking from a flask...presumably alcohol of some sort. "Hello...you don't happen to be one of the other travelers ? For the trip into the plains ?" She asked, in her proper, rather thick Trottingham accent.

Apple Doom chugged his flask, finishing it off. He turned to the mare looking her over and making a pained face. "Yes, I am one of the travelers. Not only that but i am your guide or leader or whatever you want to call me." He said as he tapped on the flask hoping for one last drop. "My name is Apple Doom by the way. What is your name ma'am?" 

 

(OOC:It is correct to assume that..I should have posted that in the thread.)

Ocean eyed the flask, then Apple Doom. She couldn't help but feel slightly uneasy that the first time she meets their leader...he's drinking, what seemed to be allot. "Ocean Wind. I'm delighted to make your acquaintance, Apple Doom." She said, holding out a hoof to shake his.

 Heather woke up and remembered today was the trip. She got up, brushed her mane, took a quick shower and packed some more things into her suitcase. "Here we go" Heather said to herself. Some time later Heather arrived at at the Appleloosa train station. Heather walked in and saw 2 ponies talking to each other and trotted up to them "H-hi...i'm sorry to... interrupt but are you guys travelers? A-and are one of you the leader pony? I-i just wanted to know so..i would uh know who was the leader...pony..." Heather said shyly to the 2 ponies

Apple Doom caught Ocean looking over the flask. "You want some? It's my special cider." He said as he shook her hoof.

Apple Doom noticed a new mare."Yes we are travellers going to and through the plains. I am the leader, Apple Doom. Who might you be?" He said as he put his flask away.

Ocean simply shook her head at Doom's (Hope its okay that I call him that) offer. She didn't really approve of alcohol...plus it had no effect on her...so it just kinda tasted gross.
She looked at the new pony and looked her over like she did Apple Doom. This mare...seemed nice. Ocean couldn't help but notice that the mare didn't have her cutie mark...which didn't matter to Ocean so she just smiled slightly and let Doom and this mare talk.

Hunter stumbled out of the hospital, she suffered a major laceration on her left flank from the incident over a year ago, she still had to revisit once a month. she overheard Apple Doom talking to Chet earlier that he was going to restart the trek across the plains. with that she packed her things and made sure to be more danger aware. when she arrived at appleoosa she quickly noted AD

"I-i'm uh Heather..." Heather said shyly looking down "I'm a traveler too..." Heather said looking up again and still shy "I guess i sorta already implied that...uh..." Heather  said not knowing what to say "So..umm...h-have you guys been on this trip before..?" Heather said trying not to be to shy

He then noticed a familiar voice. "Well if it isnt Hunter! Chet isnt here yet, I suspect him to be arriving late." Apple Doom looked at Hunter's flank. "Hows your wound treating you?"  He asked while he rubbed his a little.

As Apple Doom and another pony who seemed to already know Apple Doom started talking,  Ocean looked at Heather and stared at her for a moment before speaking. "My name is Ocean Wind. Its nice to meet you...Heather...right ?" She said, holding out a hoof to shake Heather's.

Heather saw as the pony frowned "I...i'm sorry if i said something wrong?" Heather said wondering if she did. She saw as he started to talk to a pony that he seemed to know then herd somepony talk to her "Huh?..O-oh hi...Ocean Wind...Yes, yes i-i'm heather.." Heather said shyly then shook Ocean Wind's hoof

Ocean placed her hoof back on the ground and looked around at the train station. She watched a couple ponies frantically running towards a train that looked as if it was just about to leave. She frowned slightly before looking back at Heather.. "Soooo...why did you decide to come on this trip, Heather ?" She asked, trying to make Conversation.

Heather put her hoof down then herd Ocean talk "Uh...i came here cause...i love nature and camping...Plus i have been trying to..go out more and meet more ponies, cause well i-im really shy and normally just stay in my house andd read books.." Heather said shyly

"Late again" said Chetnik, with his signature worn-out šajkača and flying suit on. "Well look who it is!" Chetnik exclaimed when he saw the familiar face. "Moja jedina! I haven't seen you for a year!" hugging Hunter with both wings and hooves, tears forming at his eyes.

Ocean smiled slightly. "I know how that is. The only thing I do that isn't reading is working in my potions shop in Canterlot or swimming. I came on this trip for adventure...I kinda feel like maybe I should have stayed home...considering I really don't like the hot sun." She said, glancing up at the roof of the train station, as if she could see the sun outside.

 "Y-yes...i have been trying to go on more adventures a-and this one didn't seem to much out of my comfort level" Heather said shyly "I'm still not sure if i should have stayed home also..." Heather said and saw as another pony came and hugged one of the other ponies "Wow, seems like everypony knows each other here..."

Ocean nodded and glanced over at the pony who had just arrived. "Yea...maybe they were all on the trip before...Apple Doom said something about another trip into the plains." She said. "I wonder when everypony else will be getting here..." She said, more to herself than to Heather.

"Stupid heat... Man, why did I even come here for a stupid vacation anyways?"

 

Freezing Point had walked out of the train, right inside the train station, looking around for something to cool her off. A fan, some ice, ANYTHING would be perfect right about now. Finally, she managed to find a fan, and sat herself right under it, sighing in relief. The snowflakes that highlighted her freezing cyan mane were slowly coming back to their natural shape, instead of melting away from the horrid sunlight. 

 

"Much better... I think I just need to stay here for a while..." As Freezing had just let out a sigh, her breath was easily shown, frigid, just like the rest of her.

Apple Doom watched Chetnik hug Hunter.The arrival of another familiar face put a smile on his face. Apple Doom waved to Chetnik not saying a word and making sure he saw.

 

Apple Doom looked around and counted the current number of ponies in the group. "One...two...three...four..and me makes five." He said. Hmm mostly mares in the group. I like that. He thought giving off a big smile.

Ocean shrugged. "I dunno...My guess would be around eight or nine maybe." She said.

She did notice that Heather was starting to feel slightly awkward...so Ocean tried to come up with something good to start a conversation. "So Heather...where are you from ?" She asked.

"Well...that's not too much..." Heather was a little happy there wasn't going to be to much ponies, cause she didn't like to be in big crowds. "Huh? o-oh sorry um.." Heather said thinking about her answer "i live in Ponyville...W-what about you?" Heather said  trying not to be to shy

"Wait a sec... Where's the resort the crew?", Freezing asked, checking around the station. Wasn't there supposed to be a group somewhere around here? She trotted away from her only cooling device and looked around, trying to see if there WAS a group around.

 

She did manage to spot five ponies around each other. Was that them? "Hey! Are you guys here for the trek?!, she called out.

Apple Doom heard the voice of another pony. He looked to see that a peculiar mare was shouting at them. "Ahoy! We are in fact here for a trek. A trek into the plains. I am the leader of this group, Apple Doom. Why don't you come over here and join us?" He said as he waved his hoof.
