private Romancing the plains(reboot)

The group had been walking for some time. Appaloosa was now just a speck in the distance.The heat started to die down as the sun went down. 

 

Apple Doom pulled the cart up a hill and stopped. "Alright y'all listen up! We are stopping for the night and setting up camp here." He said as he took off the straps to the cart. Apple Doom then stretched his neck and began digging a fire pit. I wonder if that mare is ok inside. He thought as he looked around for something to start a fire.

Apollo stopped alongside the cart. He couldn't help but to notice the others walking. He eyed the pony named Flame Dancer. He could be useful...especially now that we need a fire. He thought.

Chetnik took out his tent and knocked the nails down.

 

"Aah, it's time for a rest. Hunter, I'll take out the sleeping bags, roll them out, and you can sleep with me if you want. Ah, who am I kidding, of course you want to! :catface:"

 

Chetnik threw the sleeping bags inside the tent.

 

"And now all we need is a fire"

At those last words Flame threw his hoof into the air with a big grin on his face. "I believe I can supply us with that." He said. "Only thing is...where do we get the fire wood...we're kinda in the middle of a plain." He said, looking around.

 

Ocean sat a little ways away from the group, writing some things down in a small book.

"In my cart i have wood." Apple Doom said as he opened a side compartment revealing sticks and straw. He then laid out the wood and straw in the pit he dug. "Now watch as the amazing Flame Dancer makes fire!" Apple Doom announced hoping to put a smile on ponies faces while also hinting at Flame to start the fire.

"Same with me, but in ponyville" Heather said to Ocean with a sigh then started walking with the group wile reading her book. When they got there she sat down on the ground and looked around "Uh, A-anything i can help with?" She said to anypony that needed help

Flame chuckled and reached into a bag. He pulled out a box of matches and lit the fire. He sat back, crossed his forelegs, and smiled. "That's how it's done...I could make it a little more flashy if that's what you want." He said, still smiling.

 

 

Ocean looked up from her book at the fire pit then just ignored it and went back to writing.

Apple Doom smiled."Flashy huh?Yeah, give the mares and gentlecolts a show." He said turning his attention to Heather.

Apollo looked at Flame and Apple Doom analyzing their interaction. 

A show? yes i see. A show would keep morale up on this trip. He thought as he trotted up closer to the two stallions.

"dont mind me." Apollo said as he turned his attention to Heather

"I dont think we have been properly introduced. My name is Apollo, what might yours be?"He said while he still stood with Apple Doom and Flame.

Heather was listening to the stallions talk and wondered what else Flame could do with fire, she always loved seeing ponies do cool things. Heather was about t go on reading her book when she herd somepony "Huh?  O-oh, Hi Apollo...I'm Heather...." Heather said giving a shy smile

"I was hoping you would say that." He said, grinning.
Flame reached into his bag and pulled out a few things...a bottle of some clear liquid, a torch, and an empty jar.

 

He poured the liquid into the jar then dipped the torch in before flicking off the access fuel. He lit the torch from the fire then placed some of the liquid into his mouth. He took a deep breath through his nose before blowing the fuel into the torch, sending a massive ball of fire into the air high above the group.

Freezing could feel that the group had stopped together, feeling the cart jerk a little. ...What now?

 

So... Do I get out? Or maybe I just stay in here? Or... Did Apple Doom forget about me? Maybe I should look outside...

 

Freezing had slowly poked her head outside the cart, not before seeing a massive ball of flame. Fire... She hated that. She gasped a little, and got back inside the cart, scared.

Apollo nodded his head and began to think. she seems shy. possible explanation could be that she suffers from social anxiety or does not enjoy ponies companies....but she wouldn't be here if that was the case unless she believes in the 'strength in numbers' philosophy.

"Strange question but, do you find me scary?" He said as he turned back and saw the flames.

I wonder what else he can do with that mouth. "the hell?"

Apple Doom whistled. "Wow that is pretty cool i tell you what. Must have taken you quite a while to master that." he said as a thought popped into his head. "'scuse me for one moment." He then walked to the back of his cart and opened the doors.

Flame smiled as he pulled out a bottle of water from his bag. He rinsed his mouth out and grimaced. "It's a cool trick but that fuel tastes disgusting." He said after spitting out the water.


Ocean seemed unfazed by the fire...she just kept on writing as if she hadn't noticed.

"Huh? Oh... Hi Apple Doom... I'm fine. I'm just.. Scared of fire, that's all. I nearly faint if I get near close or it gets out of control...", Freezing sort of squealed out, gulping. She hated fire... A lot. If only ice didn't melt to fire all the time... Then she would be perfectly fine...

"Oh, my mane? It's... Special, yeah. My life source. See these snowflakes?", Freezing asked, turning to let AD fully see her mane. "It's my life source. Each of these snowflakes basically represents my health. If they all melt... I die. Only way to get them back to normal is if I'm in a cold climate. Then, they regenerate."

Chetnik threw the sleeping bags inside the tent.

Hunter sat at the fire next to Chet, she placed her head on his good shoulder and watched Flame do his performance all whilst getting warm from the fire. hunter suddenly realised that she had something in her bag, she trotted over and pulled out a bag

Apple Doom was fascinated by her mane.He hadn't seen anything like it before. He wanted to touch Freeze's mane out of curiosity but kept it to himself.

"That's pretty cool. I guess i might have to reshape the inside of my cart so its not so... uncomfortable." Apple Doom said as he looked around .

Apollo bowed in a way to show that he was excusing himself from Heather. He then approached the pony referred to as Flame Dancer.@

"That's a pretty cool trick, that fuel must be an acquired taste. Am I correct to assume that you are a performer?" He said.

"Oh, no! It's really comfortable for me! Considering I've lived in a igloo for like, a good amount of years, this is actually quite comfortable.", Freezing had said, looking around. "You've done a lot more for me than I would have thought. Don't worry, I'm not staying in here for long. When nightfall comes, it;ll be a lot colder, that's when I'll get out."

"T-thank you" Heather said giving a little less of a shy smile "Um alright" Heather said and started reading her book 'Wow...i normally don't talk to this many ponies when i'm out' Heather thought to herself and looked up 'Maybe this will be a good trip after all' Heather smiled and went on reading

Flame looked up and nodded. "That is correct. I have been performing for as long as I can remember." He said, grinning from ear to ear as he placed his equipment back into his bag. "I do a few other tricks...but it takes a few minutes to set up and I am not in the mood." He said, sitting next to the fire...allot closer than most ponies would.

 

 

Ocean finished writing and walked back over to the group, sitting down a couple feet away from the fire...make that several.

"Well it was nice talking with you. If you need anything I'll be out here." He said as he clumsily rushed out of the wagon. He fell to the ground, got up, closed the doors to the cart, and proceeded to curse angrily under his breath.

Freezing had watched where Apple Doom had fell out of the cart, making her burst out into giggling. It caused her to fall on her back, trying to take in any breath that she could get.

 

However, she had opened the door just enough to where she could see Apple Doom out of the small crack.

Flame nodded. "I'll be sure to do something at some point before we get across the plains." He said, swishing his hoof through the fire.

 

 

Ocean pulled another book from her bag...only this time it wasn't a journal, it was a book about magic. She opened it up to a certain point and began to read.

Apple Doom walked to the side of his cart and opened a small compartment where he stored his liquor. He poured a small amount out onto the ground and muttered under his breath: "to the fallen." He then tilted his head back and drank the contents of a bottle he pulled out.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you. You're gonna burn yourself." He said as he stared at the fire.
