rome total war is the best in my opinion because it basically revolutionized strategy games and was extremely well made for its time there was no other game like it.

Rome: Total War. I don't exactly like how they're emphasizing on the brand name by putting the "Total War" first when titling their new releases. It doesn't sound nearly as authentic as the normal naming scheme. Though I'm sure Total War: Rome 2 will be just fine.

Anyway, Rome: Total War had some pretty awesome stuff, and I find the time period much more interesting. I'm not too fond of bringing guns and stuff into Total War either, so that's a plus too. I'm more into huge-ass cavalry rushes and such.

But the most important reason of all, is that there's a term called "hambush", when you rush a hidden unit of incendiary pigs into an enemy elephant unit to make it run amok.

I'm playing Napoleon right now, but it's mega hard. Rome and Medieval 2 were my favorites, just as I think the Total War games work better with huge melees rather than line infantry tactics. I never really got into Shogun 2 though. I don't know why. Maybe I'll get into it one day. Rome 2 is going to be freaking sweet though.

Holy crap, I know, right? If Rome 2 is as good as I think it will be, it might, might just knock Medieval 2 out of my favorite spot. Really, the only reason I like Medieval 2 more than the first Rome is that I just like the setting more. But if Rome 2 is extremely good... well, it might just override that factor.

I liked Medieval 2 better because there was just more content. The battles were more dynamic looking as well, and it just felt more epic. The visuals for Rome 2 are going to be out of this world though, and it looks like there's going to be a larger emphasis on politics.

True, that's definitely another part that I like about Medieval. But Rome 2... oh lord, I cannot wait! And yeah, though I like the battles, I do like the political side of things as well. There's so much that goes on outside of battle that's just as fun and as important, and that's definitely another thing that makes me love Total War games so much.
