Would this be a clever way to put humans in MLP

Sounds dark. But not as dark as my idea about the ponies being near death in the end of the show. What if MLP takes place on Earth. Long ago humans existed and wiped each other out. You can have one of the characters stumble upon a human fossil and everyone in ponyville is studying this matter. Not even Twilight or Princess Celestia know anything about this. But then we would have to imply that normal ponies evolved into the talking ponies

 

You can have Twilight cast a resurrection sell on one fossil and a 21st centru human is now in Equestria. Many ponies fear this human and are thinking about domesticating it or letting it live freely. The human could suffer from trauma knowing that every human is dead and pony kind has taken over

Well kinda fitting. Jurassic Park is ranked 12 out of my favorite 100 movies of all time. But it's all I could think of ^^ Human fossils can be in the grounds of ponyville you never know

That idea does sound interesting, but the only problem that I'd have with it is Twilight using a resurrection spell, or simply that a resurrection spell even exists.  That just seems a little bit too powerful.  If you can just cast a resurrection spell, then what's the point of death anymore?  It basically solves the single completely unsolvable mystery of existence.  Then again, that could just be me.

 

Also, completely unrelated, if you enjoyed the Jurassic Park movie, I would recommend reading the book as well.  They're very different, but also both very good, and if you can get through Crichton's extremely in-depth scientific explanations (which may or may not be complete BS) it's a very interesting read.

Doubt they integrate it into the show, it's a bit abstract for a children's show and I can't see it fitting with the established lore. Good idea though.

Maybe you should forget about the idea of the human being a fossil before being revived, because yeah just like someone said it would make things a little unrealistic.

 

Here is a (hopefully) better idea to work with :

 

Since you imply that the humans lived centuries/millenias before pony kind took over, you can assume humans back then had good amount of technology, so about about The Ponies stumble upon/excavate an unscathed Cryochamber, which layed buried intactly under the earth. And Twilight maybe uses a spell for unfreezing the particular human.

There will be problems.

First of we need to establish why humans died out. And even if we don't we need to establish their existence.

Second would be the problem as to how mystical creatures came to be after the human time period. Did the earth start over again? Was there a mystical force? What happened to make it from say our world to Equestria we know today.

 

In any case this does sound like good material for a fan-fic.

There is already a popular fanfic, Anthropology to be exact, with a similar premise to this. I don't want to give too much away but it has to do with Lyra finding out about how humans previously existed in Equestria.
