"According to the schedule, the fight you've been looking to see is starting on the second arena floor." Rail said to the purple suited, old Stallion. "It should start in a few minutes. So... What's your thoughts so far? Is he worth your time?"

 

"Only if he keeps on winning. I'm not stupid, I ain't putting out a penny until my boys are done running the numbers."

Swordpoint approached Crimson slowly. "My apologies for leaving so quickly last night. I am... troubled. I do remember who you are, Captain Grinn. Celestia has certainly kept an eye on you... and I have been that eye more than once."

 

He yawned slightly. "I am sorry. My sleep was restless. I spoke with Celestia... and she told me of your position. You seek to revive your sister, correct? Well, I have a personal stake in this. The mare that I love is being held hostage. The vile Omnia has forced me to participate in exchange for her life. I believe she intends to take the wish for her own... possibly to gain power beyond Celestia. She desires to rule the world."

 

Swordpoint's gaze fell to the floor. "... but there is another complication. Knightfall, the beast inside my last opponent... He has cast a powerful spell upon me. I can feel Rainbow slipping from my mind. It is eroding her... And I do not know how to halt it, or how long I have before she is gone. I would like to help you... if you will help me."

Crimson smiled reassuringly and put a hoof on swordpoints shoulder, "I'll help you any way I can, and don't worry, if you really love dash, you'll never forget her." Crimson winced for a moment as if in pain, and quickly shook his head, "don't mind me.....its just.....a bad memory......that's all..." crimson recovered and smiled once again, "and about knightfall, ive heard what that freak did to you, and what he's doing to rune, don't worry, I will do everything within my power to help both of you." Crimsons smile widened, "as long as you don't mind your little band of misfits gaining anoather member?" Asked crimson holding out his hoof for a hoof shake.

Swordpoint gave Crimson a wan smile. He shook the unicorn's hoof. "I would be honored. Although... I cannot find Rune Breaker. I know that he has not left... I can feel small traces of his magic, but they are not enough for me to track him. In any case, I believe that you and I will face one another. I will not ask you to forfeit... but I would ask that we cast aside our weapons and our dangerous spells. I am certain that you are capable of hoof to hoof combat."

 

Swordpoint glanced around the room and found that no one was paying them any attention. He leaned in close to Crimson. "I have a plan," he whispered, "regarding the tournament. Standoff, one of the contestants, revealed something interesting about the wish... and I plan to help as many ponies as I can. We will be given the power to reshape the very world if we so desire... And I cannot allow that power to fall into the hands of any of these bloodthirsty ponies." He sighed. "This power... I fear that they have stumbled upon something I thought to be closed for good. Tell me... have you ever heard of the nexus?"

Crimson raised an eyebrow, first off, yeah, actually I prefer hoof to hoof combat, and secondly...." crimson thought for a moment, but eventually gave up and growled annoyed, "what the buck? I don't know why, but my mind says no......but a voice in the back of my mind says yes.....anyways, why do you ask?

Swordpoint shifted his gaze carefully. "I am certain you have heard of the ancient Coltillian civilization. Well... they discovered something with their magic. They found that they had opened a door into the very fabric of space and time. But... after the reaplings attacked... I entered the nexus and stood before the heart of existence. I opened that door, and when I stepped inside... I could see everything. I was one with the universe. It gave me the power of a god... and that is why Equestria still stands today. But afterwards... I closed all doors to the nexus, shortly before my consciousness faded." He stared at Crimson intently. "Do you understand what this means? If they have somehow reopened  a door... the consequences could be disastrous."

Cosmo kept an ear out for his fight's announcement but until then he watched Lite and Standoff. The crowd was betting on the only contestant to kill his opponent, which just made placing money on Lite's victory all the more profitable. Cosmo placed a decent amount on Lite and focused on her and more specifically, her strategy and magic. "Does she have those... shadow things... inside her or does she make them... If I'm right and they're independent, adding something like that to my Ghost Blades, or my Blood Wind would be just... just... How does she do it..?!" he thought intently.

Midnight Glow heard her name. "I guess I'm up then.  Gotta go get my knives" She said as she got off the couch.  Her legs were a little sore, but otherwise had a minor cut on her front left leg.  She went into the weapons room and got her sheath of three throwing knives.  She strapped them to her navy blue leg and started walking to the second arena.  This time she would try to use her powers, well as long as they didn't go against the rules.

Crimsons frowned and shook his head slightly, "if this nexus thing is as powerful as you say it is......then we can't let ANY of the contestants get their hoovs on it! Even me or you..... greed can blind many ponies.......trust me.....I know what I'm talking about....." said crimson lowering his head slightly, but quickly recovered and grew a determined look, "no....no one is getting their hands on that thing, not if it threatens anyone innocent......I won't let anypony who I call my freind get hurt.....not ever again..." said crimson almost to himself.

"Perhaps I should have mentioned... to use this power, you must make a sacrifice. You must become one with everything... and in doing so, you must relinquish your body. And soon after you merge with it... you fade away. You will have the power to change anything... but you cannot save yourself. Swordpoint glanced at the tv screens. "If they have found a means of harnessing the power of the nexus... then it is my duty to see that the door is closed. I thought I was thorough... but it appears that I was careless." He placed a hoof on Crimson's shoulder. "If I win this foul tournament... I will save your sister... AND Rune Breaker. I promise you this, Captain Grinn."

But that won't happen, will it? No. But I came prepared. I'm not sure if Red's introduced himself, so I'll assume he hasn't. Red's a friend of mine. He lives in my head, but that doesn't mean he's stuck there. He can control me, but nopony else. Want to hear what makes him useful? He can... move things around. Not just in my head. What you just saw? That was him making sure he could do it on you. That was him moving it to the front. HEY! RED! On the count of three, start breaking whatever looks important!" Standoff leveled his launcher. "He won't kill you. He can't. What he CAN do is make you crazy enough to kill yourself, just to make it stop." He smiled, and in his eyes was a cold, calculated madness. "I wonder how long you'll last. ONE!"

Crimson grinned wickedly, "now that that's settled, let's get out of here and find rune breaker and fill him in on our little plan, shall we?" Said crimson before he started to run to the closest energy he could find, in an attempt to locate rune,crimson smiled happily to himself as he ran, "saving equestrias metophirical ass again? Well this should be fun!" Thought crimson.

Swordpoint followed Crimson silently. I wonder... should I trust him? Celestia seems to think that I should... but if means to deceive me, it could spell doom for us all. Crimson led him to the third arena... the same one where he had faced Rune the previous day. Sitting near the remains of the alchemy circle was Rune Breaker. He was fast asleep.

 

Swordpoint stepped forward. "Rune Breaker. You must rise."

Crimson smiled at his success on finding rune breaker, "so......this is rune breaker huh?.....damn....he looks beat, has he been awake all night?" Asked crimson, still staring at rune with concern, "and what's with all the runes, is he trying to cast a spell or somthing?" He asked, now looking at the runes with curiosity.

Swordpoint glanced at the runes. "He must not have slept." Rune Breaker looked exhausted, almost as if he was dying. "I will not leave him here." Swordpoint picked up the unconscious Rune Breaker and held him up as he walked out of the arena. Crimson followed behind him.

 

"I suppose I shall take him to the infirmary again. The medics and I have a... healthy relationship." He walked through the corridors until he reached the infirmary, where he placed Rune Breaker on a cot again. The medic from the previous night was there, and she said nothing at all to Swordpoint. She was shaking slightly. "He needs rest. Allow him to get some."

 

The medic only nodded. Swordpoint turned and exited the infirmary.

Crimson frowned as he followed swordpoint out of the infermery, "he looks stressed about somthing.....maybe its becouse of runes condition?....or....maybe he doesn't trust me....." crimson sighed "why does this always happen to me!? Is becouse I'm a pirate!? Whatever the reason, I need him to trust me, if he won't then im screwed on having any freinds here, most of the contestants want to kill me!? But then again that's the point of a fight to the death tournament.....anyways, I only have one option if I want him to trust me.....but I'm not gonna like it......" thought crimson, before sighing and walking infront of swordpoint, "I know you don't trust me, and I don't blame you for being cautious, but if we don't have full trust in one anoather, then we might as well GIVE them the wish, to make sure you can trust me, I'm going to let you do a deep menal dive into my memories and let you judge for yourself..." crimson then blushed slightly, b-but if you see any memories having to do with princess luna, then please avoid them....trust me, its for your own good..." crimson then stood still and closed his eyes, "or you could ask celestia about it, but I can't gurentee she'll know everything I've done...."

Swordpoint stared at Crimson. "... I will admit, I have my doubts. I suppose I shall take your offer." He closed his eyes and his wings began to glow. He touched his hoof to Crimson's head, and images flooded his mind.

 

Swordpoint wavered for a moment. "You have seen great suffering. I believe you, Crimson, and as a grace... I shall allow you to read my memories. But I warn you... They are not for the faint of heart. I have committed many unspeakable acts in my time on this earth... including killing mares and foals. I am not proud of it... But I wish for you to see my struggle... to understand exactly how much Rainbow means to me... and why I must win." He let his own thoughts and recollections flow freely between them.

Crimson closed his eyes and saw his memories flow through his mind, after a moment crimson finally recoiled, and looked sadly at swordpoint, "your right.....that was very sad.....and you did many terrible things in the name of omnia.....but then again I'm not innocent myself, and the past will only haunt us if we let it.....you may have killed mares and fillies.....but you've never just stood by hugging treasure while you watched your own father kill your sister...." said crimson looking at the ground in shame, "everyone has a monster hiding under their skin....just waiting to burst out and damn your name.....runes just lucky enough to be able to kill his....." said crimson solemnly.

Terrorite transformed into Golden Dreams at the break of sunlight. Goldre was back to normal. Even her stripe was back! She could risk it a bit more now that she had Terrorite's energy and the beautiful morning sun on her back...

Knightfall is slowly destroying him, and I fear that he will eventually lose his control... and then that foul wyrm will take over. As for you... you have more than paid the price for your actions. I am only a pony. It is not my place to judge you here." He walked in the direction of the waiting room. "Our match will begin soon... I do not ask for you to throw the fight away, but rather for you to fight me with honor. I warn you, however, that I will not lose. I cannot. I must not... for there is no hope if I fail. She will be put to death... in a cold cell."

Cosmo was confident in his next fight, he held back against Dreams but Goldre wasn't someone he felt the need to protect. "If she dies, she dies. So... I'm gonna have to keep my speed enchantments on from the start, and prepare for that hide in the clouds horseapples... And I'll need to make Blood Eind a dome this time so she can't just fly out!"

Crimson smiled cooly as he followed swordpiont, "don't worry, I'll fight with honor, but I'm not gonna throw the match for you, and just fair warning, through the help of celestias magic, I was trained by the first pirate himself in the art of magic, swordsmanship, and hoof to hoof combat, so don't expect me to lose so easily!" Said crimson, while grinning wickedly, anyways, we might want to go watch the current match, after all, we don't want to look suspicious do we?" Asked crimson as he walked beside swordpiont.

Swordpoint only nodded to Crimson. He is much younger than I... but my age deters me naught. In fact... I've felt much more youthful ever since they brought me back from the nexus... He glanced at Crimson before walking to the monitor showing the first fight.

 

"Standoff..." Swordpoint mused. "He's one of them. If I face him... I must kill him. His bloodlust and disregard for pony life... It must be punished."

Rune Breaker jolted awake, he was in a cot in the infirmary and still very very tired. 'What?! No! How did I get here? Did I fall asleep I couldn't have fallen asleep!'

 

'Heh, you did worm and you know what happens when you fall asleep.'

 

Runes eyes narrowed glancing around the room, his sleep deprived mind racing full of paranoia  'What did you do?! Why am I here?! How long did you have control!?'

 

Knightfall sounded absolutely delighted with himself, 'Heh heh heh.  You are so easy to play with.  I did nothing I've been saving my energy.  The cursed one and the one kissed by fire came and left you here.'

 

"What!?!"  Rune yelled out startling the medics, "Swordpoint is already at the tournament?  I've got to go get him!"  He quickly galloped out of the room to find the others.

Artemis was all healed from resting in the infirmary. "Hmm...What should I do??" Artemis thought. She walked out of the infirmary. "Oh yeah! I forgot. I can watch the fights. I guess I'll watch Crimson's fight." Artemis thought. She walked and sat down in the back row. "I wonder who's winning.." Artemis thought.
