When a small settlement near the grand capital of Equestria is found entirely gone one morning, with only a single mute pony left behind, suspicion begins to grow. This is the fourth attack in as many years; the last time that this occurance happened was nearly a hundred years ago, when Ponyville was found deserted. 

The Princesses have kept it hushed up, but now it's finally come clear; someone is abducting these innocents, and rumours of a mysterious carnival that rolls in while everyone is asleep and leaves the next morning come to light.

The Princesses deny all this, but since the deaths of the Elements of Harmony years ago chaos has once more creeped into the land, birthing villains of terrifying power, and the species under their command aren't sure of what to think anymore.

 

So now they have decided to take it into their own hands. 

 

Razzle Dazzle, a mute pony that was left behind after the attack, may be the key to all the answers to these abductions, but there are fearful obstacles to face and terrible challenges to overcome, and even then, the rumour may be just that...

 

You have volunteered, among others, to take up the fight to find this mysterious Carnival Obscuro, and to discover the secret of what lies beneath its pretty exterior.

But be warned, dear creatures; nothing is ever what it seems, especially not in a world where their business is smoke and mirrors...

 

Hello, potential players, and welcome to The Carnival Obscura!

This roleplay is an ADVANCED type focusing on the journey of your characters as they seek answers to the terrible atrocities that the Carnival is rumoured to have committed.

 

Before we get any further, let's lay down the rules of the RP!

 

RULES

1. No Mary or Gary Sue's, and don't OP.

2. No alicorns or dragons, no exceptions. Any other species is permitted. 

3. Listen to the DM at all times, please! I need to keep it on track.

4. Try to keep cursing to a minimum and no NSFW content. Kissing, etc, is allowed, but nothing further.

5. You can't kill another character; any NPC's, like enemies, are okay.

6. Make your posts detailed; don't be afraid to made big posts!

7. You can have up to seven characters.

 

That's pretty much it! Except one more thing...

 

YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF TWO CHARACTERS TO PARTICIPATE.

 

This is merely to make it easier for you to make 800 character posts. 

 

To sign up, all you need to do is post your character link. Also add a short paragraph (at least three or four sentences) about their strengths and weaknesses and why they are joining the team.

You must have two combat strengths and one major weakness.

Suffers damage internally and can go blind from overusing his magic.

If he consumes enough love he can use powerful spells.

Can regenerate after a while.

Often overly afraid of things once he is exposed and is weak to be discriminated against due to his race.

 

I think these three will do for starters. I might add a few others if the opportunity appears.

Well, so much for Emerald, then. One day I swear I'm going to find an excuse to use him. One day.

 

Anyway, characters:

 

Lost Knowledge 

 

A noted scholar in the fields of archaeology and mythology, Lost is motivated as much by curiosity and academic interest as anything. He hopes to find something that will earn him further renown among his peers. Though physically weak, he has fairly strong magic, excelling at levitation and healing. In addition, his knowledge of history, archaeology, etc, often comes in handy on his adventures.

 

Raptor

 

Often hired as an assassin, Raptor cares for only two things: furthering griffin-kind, and showing off his skills as a hunter and warrior. He has unusually long and sharp (by griffin standards) talons that, when paired with his exceptional strength and agility, make him extremely dangerous at close range. However, his firm belief that ponies are weak and inferior creatures means that he has trouble working with them. Indeed, it is difficult for him to cooperate or socialize with anyone who isn't a fellow griffin.

Anyways, my idiot parents picked this night (of course) to drag me out with them. (They literally never talk to me, so of course they picked today, right? It's like they have little evil sensors or something.)

I still expect at least 400 character posts, however. If they are too short I will ask you to leave the RP. 

I feel 200 characters is still a bit too short.

I've done it before. It makes things a bit difficult sometimes, but it also helps keep things interesting. For me at least. Not that this doesn't seem like it will be plenty interesting already, of course. Besides, he does have a sense of professionalism as far as considering getting the job done to be more important than his own views, so it mostly just means he won't talk a whole lot, or he'll be negative when he does.

It hasn't actually been necessary for me to decide that in any previous use of either character, as this will be the first time they interact with each other. I think the answer is probably no, since Lost wasn't there at the time, and the murder wasn't over anything personal but rather that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, so there's no reason he would know or recognize him. (I should probably mention that Raptor was never actually caught for that murder. He's very good at covering his tracks, and has never been caught.) However, the possibility remains that he could somehow find out that it was Raptor who killed her.

 

Also, I didn't think to mention this before, and it probably won't matter anyway, but one other thing Lost is good at is light magic. As in, actually illuminating areas with his magic, not holy magic. The reason for this is that, in exploring ruins and such, it helps to be able to see clearly so he's learned to be pretty good at light magic over the years. Again, the odds of this really mattering are pretty slim, since he could just, you know, carry a torch or something.
