planning Help with OC please

Hi, I'm new to role playing but would like to get started as it seems a lot of fun. But first I would need a character and I would really need help with that. 

 

I have already created a pony but I need help with names and such. I kinda now I want him but I would kindly take advice on what I should call him and what my next step would be.

I would be very grateful with help on this since don't have a clue how you role play here(or anywhere for that matter). Please everypony, I need your help

Well, I find the easiest character to play is one who's similar to you. As you get more experience, you can branch out. 

 

As for names...I see he's got a joystick cutie mark. Maybe something involving arcades?

That's a nice character. He looks nerdy and is a unicorn. Unicorns are smart, so give him a talent that kind of relates to you in a way, because that's what OC's are sometimes based off of. 

 

Relate the cutie mark to something scientific, artistic, or musical.

Yeah I kinda modeled him after myself and we kinda have the same personality(which means:

-Smart,not supersmart but above average

-Kind, doesn't like to brag

-A little socially awkward and shy but opens up if he gets to know you

-would never abandon his friends

-try's to find reason for why people do as they do instead of jumping to a conclusion) 

As for the cutie mark, I'm not sure if I wan't a joystick cutie mark. It's true I love video-games but I don't know if I wan't it to be my cutie mark...

Thanks for the tips, I will sure try to follow them(even though it's hard to know what my talent should be since I don't really know for sure what I'm good at ) And yeah... he is kinda of a nerd... like me
