I am sure many agree the current design for Equestria Girls is not exactly appealing to the eye.  To me is a total eyesore to be honest.  Whether or not the multi colored skin is a factor, I just can't get over how...well...ugly they all look.

 

Good thing there's Deviantart, let me show you how to me, Equestria Girls could have a better look in m,y opinion:

 

 

The same artist did an all character pic and I believe maybe this would've gathered better results in the long run for Hasbro:

I remember seeing the one above on DA, I like it. But don't get me wrong, I'm over this.. I think that hasbros designs are decent, I mean still if it could have been more like RD 5, it would have been pretty awesome but still I would have liked it if they could have just made a movie just with ponies. But I know it will turn out great though, so I'm not saying anything about it. I know it will be awesome! Since the cast will make it awesome.

 

But yeah, they should have used human colours instead of well, their colours. But then again, it's made for young girls so I can't judge it. But could you imagine the fan art that would have been created if they would have had it more like number 5. I'm just saying, it's pretty cool. Except for those boots.

 

Still, humanized Fluttershy is still going to be awesome, she has almost real skin colour and so does Applejack so they will be awesome.

Now I have actually seen some animation from the advert the character design is actually pretty good.

and lets face it it could have been worse and regardless Iam not bothered by anything as long as its a good movie but for that we will have to wait and see.
