Diamond morphed back into her normal form and exhaled a bunch of smoke from her to cigarettes before smiling. "Guess this is one of those fight chamber's huh...well, let's make this quick." She said.
Quite quickly, the smoke she exhaled morphed into spikes and shot at the pony's legs. If they hit, they would move back to strike again...if they missed, Diamond had herself prepared to dodge a counter attack.

Hearing the screams from the mare. Regal closed his eyes and tried to block out the screams.

"Relax. Just relax" he said to himself trying to remove the images from his mind. Regal regained his cool and walked towards the mare.

Looking down at the mare Regal felt bad for her. Still he wasn't going to release her. She could be trouble.

 

"Hey you" Regal said to the mare. "I'll release, but before I do. I need you're name, what magic you use, your guild, and a promise that you will work with me until the I have found the exit. do all of the above and i'll release, if you refuse i'll leave you here. Do you understand?"

((Did I mention I'm not actually going to tell you the results of the rolls most of the time? Because often it's better if I don't. Also, half the time I don't really want you to know whether I'm actually rolling or not. Just something to keep in mind.))

 

Your spikes strike the figure's legs, knocking them out from under him and sending him crashing to the ground. However, he quickly recovers, and counterattacks from his position on the ground. "Breath of the Frost Dragon!" A wave of freezing cold air blasts toward  you.

The young mare nodded and pulled herself together long enough to speak. "M-my name is Scout. I'm from Manticore Fang. They sent me in because I use Archive magic. I can use it to look at a map of this place and find the fastest way out while avoiding the traps. I-I don't want to betray my guild. You have to promise if I help you that we'll finish together at the same time. You can still get first place that way. P-please stop hurting me."

 

You hear sounds of confusion and a few muttered curses coming from the way you came. Apparently someone got stuck in your runes.

Sole cursed angrily "regal, thats a low blow you asshole!" He growled angrily, until he noticed the attack that was heading for diamond "what?! Annother dragonslayer?" He said, part in happieness, and part in worry for his guildmate. "Dibs on fighting him!" He said eagerly, turning to rambler.

Regal couldn't do anything think over his choice. She would prove every useful.

Everything he did was falling into place. Still with a new teammate and someone stuck in his trap he already took down two people without trying. 

"Alright then I'll release you, but remember we are working together, If you betray me. Trust me when I say this. I'm not somepony you want to fight" pulling out his rapier he looked around. He released Scout from his spell. Placing down another trap  he was ready. This trap's rule was when it was stepped and if alone the trap will release pain and hurt the pony, but if two or more ponies step on the trap at the same time, no effect will take place.

Diamond dived to the side. She stood up and brushed herself off before exhaling more smoke. "Another Dragon Slayer...funny, I thought you guys were rare." She grinned and flew into the air.

She extended both her hooves and, like before, two long smoke tendrils shot towards the colt's neck and wounds on his legs...the same spot that the spikes had hit.

Rambler shrugged. "Yeah, with a guild called Dragon Heart competing in the tournament, I guess we shouldn't be surprised you're not the only one. Anyway, I still have no control over who you fight or when, but there's a pretty good chance that the sponsors, whoever they are, will want to see two dragonslayers clashing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, though."

 

@@Snowy Storm,

 

"A-all right. I think the exit should be this way. Even with Archive, it's still a maze, so the map can be confusing sometimes, but I'm pretty sure." She heads off down the path, moving quickly since she doesn't have to worry about being surprised by traps. The pony behind you seems pretty annoyed at this point, however, a few minutes later, you hear what sounds like fighting coming from that direction. Evidently someone else found the runes as well.

You dive away from the attack, but it still chills your side enough to be quite painful. "So you know of us? I guess that makes introductions a bit easier. I'm Frostbite, the Frost Dragon Slayer. And we may be rare, but this tournament brings out the best, after all." He cries out in pain as the smoke grips his wounded legs, but his cries are cut off as it wraps around his neck. He continues to struggle, but with little success.

 

((Don't get cocky. You got ludicrously lucky rolls in this battle.))

Lycan gasped, "wholy shit! Anoather dargon slayer!? But I thought me and that idiot sole were the only ones participating in the tournament!? This is bad.....I hope diamond can beat him...." thought lycan before taking out his i-pod and changing the song to fighter, by manafest.

Regal shook his mane and followed close behind Scout. Regal so far didn't believe his luck. Still he would have to share first place with this mare. Regal was a colt of his word and as long as she kept her word Regal would keep his.

"Hey scout if we get into a fight just let me deal with it"

"I have a question for you. Why did you enter the games. Surly you would have to know this isn't some kiddy game you could win on your own"

Scout glares at you, clearly taking your words as an insult. "I'm not a kid! Archive is powerful magic! My guild chose me because they knew it could help the team. I'm just... not so good at fighting directly."

 

You hear cries of pain behind you. Apparently whoever won that fight found your next trap as well.

"Well this was too easy" then a thought hit Regal. The pony behind them would be pissed as heck when they found them.

"Look Scout I didn't mean it as an Insult, But right now we have to run. my runes will only keep them back for a while, but after that they'll be on us fast. Casting another rune on the ground  He placed another trap this was had a riddle that you had to solve before passing, so they could go around if they wanted.

Iron looked to the progress Regal was making, and was glad she had the idea to send him in. She turned to Flint with a smug look on her face.

Diamond lifted him into the air, tightening the smoke around his neck as she send a puff of smoke in his face. "Good thing smoke contains next to no water...well, in my case. I'll be tough to freeze." She smiled as a couple other smoke tendrils, branching off from the first moved to take hold of his front legs...

Not that you would see it unless you looked back, but the figure finally managed to drag itself out of the pain runes. You hear what sounds like crackling electricity behind you, and moments later they reach your next trap. Although you can't hear it all that well while you're running, you think you hear an annoyed male voice saying something along the lines of "Stupid bucking riddles. I've had about enough of this." In the moments that follow you don't hear any indication that he's figured it out yet.

 

Shortly after this series of events, Scout turns to you. "I think the end should be close, we just need to turn around this corner here and it should be a straight run to the exit." Upon turning the corner you see another figure further down the hall. Hearing you coming they turn around to face you. "I'm afraid this is as far as you get. Earthmake Barricade!" Suddenly an earthen wall appears between you and the figure, who you can hear advancing towards the exit. It looks like you should be able to break through, but it's going to slow you down.

 

((Admittedly that's a pretty good riddle, but it's also the most annoying kind of riddle in my opinion. And yes, I looked up the answer, because I'm lazy and I have to focus more on DMing and less on your riddles.))

Your smoke tendrils fail to take hold of his thrashing legs, and he manages to break free of the one around his neck. The original tendrils around his wounded legs however, remain. Seeing this as a brief opening to strike before you can restrain him further, he stretches out his head. "Fangs of the Frost Dragon!" He flails his head and gnashes his teeth at you wildly, although with two of his legs still restrained, the attack's effectiveness is minimal.

Flint shrugged. "I guess you chose wisely. But it's not over yet. We'll see how he finishes."

Iron nodded.

 

"Yes, I guess we will. But this 'Succubus' has 'faith' in him, there is no doubt that he will emerge, if not victorious, high up in the ranks."

 

Iron still felt smug about her idea to send in Regal, and hopefully when he comes out he'll realize that it was entirely up to her to send him in.

"Careful just how much you compliment him. Wouldn't want me to get jealous, would you? Flint chuckled. Even someone as simple-minded as him knew there was no chance of anything happening between the two of them. At least, probably not. Frankly, Regal might not have been too far off when he called her a succubus.

'Oh, if only you knew.' Iron thought to herself. It's not even like she had any emotional ties to Flint, he was just her plaything. For now.

 

"No, we wouldn't want that. I'm just saying that Regal is doing very well in this challenge." Iron said, smirking.

Diamond made the smoke tendrils tighten more around his bad legs as the colt nearly bit her. "Using an attack that requires you to be close when you are far away is...a poor choice." She said, exhaling more smoke then also formed into spikes and flew at the colt.

The spikes merely grazed him, not enough to finish him off. At least, they wouldn't have been if he hadn't flailed his head around so much that it slammed into one of the spikes that would otherwise have been a narrow miss. The force was enough to knock him unconscious, and thus eliminate him from the game.  

 

The walls slid back in to reveal the paths out of the room.

Flint continued to chuckle. "Well, now that I think about it, I get the feeling he may not like mares, if you know what I mean."

Sole watched as the ice dragonslayer failed epically "man, he gives dragonslayers a bad name!" He said incredously "its like he was trying to lose or something!" He said, facepalming as he turned to rambler "well, at least smo- ugh, I mean diamond got through okay, she might actually win this!" He said with a grin.

Iron outright laughed at what Flint said, although she doubted it. Regal just seemed to be the type to not be interested in any relationship.

 

"Then I better watch my back, huh? Don't want him creeping up on my men."

 

Just a moment too soon she realized she had used men, plural, instead of singular. She just hoped Flint was too thick to realize it.

If Flint noticed anything odd with her statement, he certainly didn't show it. Although, in truth, he wouldn't really care anyway. As long as he still got to have his fun with her, he didn't mind sharing. 

 

"I wouldn't worry about it. After last night, I think I can safely say no sane stallion would choose to be with someone else after having spent the night with you." He reached over and grabbed at her flank playfully.

Iron sighed mentally, glad Flint didn't realize her mistake.

 

'I just hope that when I ditch Flint, he doesn't take it too hard.... that could really hurt my chances in the games...' Iron thought, and made a weird little squeak sound when Flint grabbed her flank.

Flint laughed at her squeaking. "That... I think that was the most adorable thing I've ever heard. You know, I was thinking: this challenge should be over pretty soon, and we'll have a little while before the battle rounds start, even longer before our team's battle comes up. You think maybe we could go find a place to have a little... alone time in between?"

Diamond stared and let the smoke tendrils drop the colt to the ground. She gave him a bit of a disappointed look before she went back to her smoke form and quickly flew through the opening opposite to the one she had entered from.
Like before she flew forwards through the maze as fast as she could go.
