Thankfully, being in smoke form means most forms of traps aren't triggered by your passing. In fact, none of the ones in the maze are, besides the battle chamber, anyway. You soon see light ahead of you, and turning a corner, you see the exit maybe fifty feet away. Unfortunately, you're not alone. A handsome brown stallion is quickly charging towards the exit, and at this rate, even with the added speed of your smoke form, he has enough of a head start that he'll beat you to it.

Flint grinned. He had to admit, he didn't think it would be that easy. "Alright, well we should probably at least stay to see if Regal ends up winning after all. But as soon as it's over, I have a place in mind."

'I just hope he knows that there's no emotional attachment. That would be terrible for my chances of gaining ground in the games. Maybe I'll keep Flint around for a little while longer... after all, nothing bad could happen by me just having one toy for a little longer...'

Rambler had been watching the tournament closely, and when Diamond defeated the dragon slayer, he cheered and turned to Minath. "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I guess we picked the right choice when we sent her, huh? Although I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do with this cigarette holder she gave me."

Minath was in awe of Diamonds power.

 

"Uh-huh." Minath said. "Here, hand me the cigarette holder. I'll keep it safe for her. After all, I kinda owe her for not thinking of her right off the bat. If a challenge fit me to a 'T', then I would be pretty mad if somepony didn't think to, well, think of me."

Rambler gave her the cigarette holder. "Take it, then. I just feel awkward holding it. I'm afraid I'll mess it up or something, and if she gets mad when people mess with her cigarettes, imagine how upset she must get if somebody messes with that." He shuddered. "But anyway, I've been watching what I can of the other teams, and I've been trying to gauge them. Is anybody sticking out to you yet?"

Minath laughed, and put the cigarette holder in the chestpiece of her armor. It may look weird, but the armor will keep it safe.

 

Minath thought for a moment. "It seems to me that no one can really hold up against Fairy Tail. Although I have an inkling that Scout will betray Regal. It would only be logical."

Rambler shrugged. "Maybe. Of course naturally I'm inclined to think a little girl like her is more pure and innocent than that. Who knows, really? It could be that he'll be the one to betray her. Or whoever's been following them might catch up  and take out at least one of them. I have a suspicion that Blitzkrieg is the one following them, and he doesn't mess around. But honestly, you're right about Fairy Tail. So far, we seem to be the only ones who have done anything particularly impressive."

Diamond growled as she turned back into a normal pony..well, half a normal pony. Her back end was still smoke, propelling her still at a fast speed as she held up her hoof.. "NO YOU DON'T." She yelled. The usual smoke tendril shot from her hoof at the colts back legs in an attempt to get him tangled up.

 

 

"GO DIAMOND GO." Fire shouted, her wings fluttering...Diamond was so close to beating this thing.

((Frankly, I'm hesitant to move any further forward without another post from Regal, else he'll be at something of an unfair advantage. So I'm giving you the results of the attempt to trip the stallion, and nothing more.))

 

You manage to tangle up one of his hind legs, albeit barely, and he stumbles enough that you should be able to beat him to the exit. Of course, he might have something to say about that.

Minath laughed.

 

"Pure and innocent? When I was her age I was doing way wor... I mean... *ahem* Regal's pride wouldn't let him do that, oh no. He would take her out fair and square if she did make a move against him.... but he wouldn't betray her. And if whatever is following them does catch up, if I were Regal, use Scout as a 'sacrificial lamb' and while whatever is following them is weakened, take it out. But then again, my mind is mainly battle tact."

Rambler laughed. "Oh, you don't have to hide anything from me. I'm sure you had your fun when you were her age. It's not important now. Anyway, if there's anything Regal's pride wouldn't let him do, it's sacrifice her. He's too much of a self-proclaimed "gentlecolt" to do something like that. He'll defend her if a fight comes, I have little doubt of that."

"And that would be a fatal flaw. When push comes to shove, it's sink or swim. You can't really swim well with another on your back, so you need to cast off the extra weight. To be truly successful in a fight, you have to forget all your emotional ties and focus on the endgame."

 

Minath realized how cold and heartless she must sound, but the words were already out of her mouth. Hopefully they wouldn't bite her on the flank later.

Rambler smiled slightly and shook his head. "We both know that's not entirely true. Not in Fairy Tail, anyway. You have to embrace your bonds with your friends and allies, nurture them, not cut them off. Those bonds are what make you stronger, they give you a reason to fight." He wrapped his foreleg around her and pulled her close. "That's why I'll never lose a fight as long as I have you with me. You mean too much to me for me to ever let you down."

Minath blushed as Rambler pulled her close.

 

"S-sorry. I guess even now, after all these years I still revert back to the mindset I had to have in Onibus. I guess I'm still getting used to all these... friends.. around to help me out. Before it was just me and the occasional companion."

 

Minath gazed off into the labyrinth, not focusing on one point in particular, lost in her own thoughts.

"AH no you don't!" Regal shouted. Ripping off one of the sleeves regal had around his leg. On his leg were Runes, but unlike the runes he had casted before, theses were written into his leg. Five runes on his leg glowed and disappeared. 

Regal's leg grew black and twisted with claws at the end. his arm was now in Absolute Shadow form.

"Scout you said the exit was just in front of us?" Not waiting for answer he grabbed her. Regal could easily teleport on to the other side of the wall, but he was a colt who kept his word. Regal took a running start towards the wall and put his full force behind his arm. 

 

(OOC: If Regal does break through the wall He's going to make a mad dash towards the exit with Scout.

One last thing. Regal is amped up with rune magic and he buffed him-self with runes to increase his over-all feats and abilities)

Rambler shook his head again. "You don't have to apologize. That's the way you grew up, and I respect that. That part of your past helps to make you strong. But you're not alone anymore. You have the guild... you have me. Just don't ever forget that. I'll always be there for you, and so will everyone else in Fairy Tail. That's what a guild is."

Regal broke through the wall, only to find Diamond and the stallion who created it already rushing for the exit on the other side. Not only that, but judging by the rapidly advancing sound of crackling electricity, whoever was following Regal solved the riddle, and is on his way to get some payback. And on top of that, you hear what sounds like thunder coming from another side passage.

((In case anybody is wondering, the two who have been eliminated are Striker, from Quatro Cerberus, and Frostbite, from Dragon Heart, in that order. Meaning those QC is in eighth place, and DH in seventh, with the other six places still a tossup.))

He yelled, as he practacaly blew eveyone's eardrums by how loud he was cheering. But it was loud enough for her to hear.

Diamond morphed back into her smoke form and shot towards the exit as fast as she could, shooting a few blunt spikes at the colts head as she passed him...but didn't really take any time to aim or anything, she was focusing all her power on just flying towards the exit.

"Rambler...look!" Minath excitedly whispered in his ear, gesturing to the end of the labyrinth and Diamond's position

"No!" Regal was too slow. Pulling out his Rapier he aimed it at Diamond and chucked it at her form hoping to that it would hit her. and if it did it would inflect Pain, Regal wasn't too worried about about the stallion Diamond manged to trip.

he yelled to scout as he ran.

"Run as fast as you can towards the exit. I'll fight my own teammate if i have to. I promise you first place and first place is what I will win" Running as fast as he could he was ready to fight Diamond. As for the ponies behind him he hoped they were to far behind to caught up with him. Regal used up the last of his runes on his legs to increase his speed and movement.

All of your spikes miss, but it doesn't matter. Nopony is able to react in time to stop you from reaching the exit (and I rolled for everyone). The earth wizard you tripped on your way to the finish curses under his breath, victory having been so close at hand hoof.

((I rolled a four for your rapier. You needed a five to hit. Now I feel bad.)) 

 

Your rapier sails past Diamond as she reaches the exit. Scout breaks for the exit, but before she can make it, something explodes at her hooves, sending her falling to the ground. The source of the crackling electricity has arrived, and he's not happy.

Rambler looked up just in time to see Diamond exit the maze in first place. He cheered so loudly that afterwards he was almost worried he'd hurt Minath's ears.
