Chrysalis smiled at Cadance. "Of course I wish to keep our alliance," she replied. "Indeed, I was trying to explain that to Harmonic when he attacked me. He wouldn't listen, tho. I would not wish to see his death, but of course, it's entirely up to you. I will add my input tomorrow at the meeting."

Cadence raised an eyebrow for a moment, looking skeptically at Steeleye before looking down at the floor at chuckling to herself. "Of course, i'm sorry Steeleye, it's been a long day - I don't know how I forgot." She took a moment to look around the room and think on what to do with the situation.

"Alright, everypony, take a rest. You should all retire to your rooms, I expect you all here first thing in the morning - we need to...discuss...what is to be done with Harmony in regards with his outburst. Crystal Onyx, fall out and worry not, unless Harmony is to be executed, you will still serve under his command alone."

Arrow exhaled a breath he had not realised he was holding, relieved if a little surprised to be let off so lightly - he had expected some form of punishment, at least.

Then again, the princess could always change her mind tomorrow.

Deciding that now would be a good time to take his leave, Arrow tipped his head to the monstrous looking yet apparently rather understanding Queen Chrysalis, and then turned to go, pausing to salute Princess Cadence with a brief "M'lady" before exiting the palace.

I'll have to look up changelings in the royal archives first chance I get, Arrow told himself as he trotted through the palace's beautiful gardens towards the main gates. Once at the gates, however, he paused. Arrow had been planning to follow Cadence's advice/orders and return to his room to sleep off the rest of his hangover, but now a sense of unfinished duty called him to a lesser known side entrance back into the palace. The guards stationed outside the door - smaller than the main entrance but just as beautifully ordained - saluted to Arrow, and he did the same, trying his best to act naturally as he reentered the palace, walking through the halls as quietly as he could until he returned to the medical bay.

With a polite nod to the nurse and guard on duty, Arrow trotted softly through to the back room. "Enid?" he asked gently.

The mare looked up from where she had been resting her head by the foot of her sister's cot - Arrow suspected rather guiltily that he had woken her.

Looking up at Arrow with blurry eyes, she stepped over to him and looked up shyly, shortly after letting a smile creep onto her face.

She followed his head's gesture to Myra on the bed. Seeing her curled up on her side with the machines still attached to her reminded her of the situation, and her heart dropped, following the smile on her face. Stepping over solemnly to the bed, she placed her hoof on the checkboard at the end of the bed, turning back to Arrow and nodding slowly, gesturing for him to come over and look for himself.

Smiling and biting her lip, Enid nodded slowly and stepped closer to Arrow, putting her head by the left side of his neck affectionately. (Just imagine Twilight and Princess Celestia) After a brief moment she put her right hoof over his shoulder and pulled herself closer, burying her head into his coat as she tried to stifle a few tears.

After several more seconds, she slowly let go and looked up in the direction of the throne room, pointing at her ears and tilting her head in confusion.

(OOC: Good. :) Um, I mean, I don't care about her eventual fate, or the fate of anypony you could potentially kill. *sweat drop* ).

Arrow smiled in relief at the confirmation from Enid, only to freeze in surprise when she wrapped a foreleg round his shoulder and buried her face in his coat. For a moment, Arrow panicked and considered putting a little more distance between Enid and himself, but came to his senses in time as he realised she was struggling not to cry.

Before Arrow could bring himself to react, however, Enid pulled away again and began to make gestures indicating the throne room and then her own ears. For once, Arrow was confident right away that he knew what she was asking.

"There was a minor explosion." Arrow told her, "Though as of yet nopony is sure who set it off. It appears the unknown attacker planned to assassinate a new ally of the Empire, a Queen Chrysalis." Arrow glanced at Enid in hopeful curiosity. "Have you heard of her?"

Arrow's spirits fell however as he considered the further information he would have to tell Enid, his ears drooping slightly. "There's something else, too." He began cautiously, unsure of how Enid would react to the news of her Commander's situation. "Commander Harmonic apparently got into a misunderstanding with Chrysalis." Arrow swallowed slightly. "He's being detained in the ah - in the dungeons for the time being. His fate will be decided in the morning, though for the time being Cadence states that the Onyx Guard will still answer to him." He watched Enid warily, gauging her reaction to this news.

Harmonic awoke with a splitting headache - it felt like somepony had torn out his thoughts and then hastily crammed them all back in again, in the meantime beating fresh ones into him with a bat. Opening his eyes, he noticed it was dark...very dark, and only candle light flickered in the nearby surroundings. His eyes took a minute to adjust to the darkness, and he realised there where thick fuzzy lines not too far infront of him. ...Wait, those weren't lines, they where bars.

In an attempt to clear his eyes of the haziness they suffered, he moved to wipe them, only to find his legs where restrained. Panicking for a moment, he tried in vain to free himself from what is was that was holding him before he actually looked. Chains? What had happened last night..? Suddenly it came to him - "Chrysalis..." he grunted. "Where are you, bug? Release me from these shackles so I may kill you!" he yelled out, but there was nopony within earshot. "Damn chains wont hold me for long..." he snarled, sending his magical energy to teleport him out of his prison, but it didn't work - his magical aura backfired, knocking his head back and giving him an intensely painful headache in the process. "What the...where am I?"

Looking up at his horn the best he could, he could barely make out a black crystal shape jutting from it. "Crystals..? Am I...? No. That's not right...I can't be. Chrysalis would never have defeated the entire crystal army in such a short time...could she? ...how long was I out?" It was at this point, when he hung his head that he realised he was indeed suspended from the ground, by all of his legs, all chained to separate walls, leaving him to simply hang there...

_____

Enid's ears flopped to the side of her head when she heard Chrysalis was allying herself with the Empire. She knew how dangerous changelings where, but she also knew how untrustworthy Chrysalis was supposed to be - tales from the books, of course. She had no idea if they where true or not, but she would remain weary.

News of her commanders situation hit her hard - and it was evident. She fell backwards onto her haunches and hung her head with closed eyes. There where several minutes of her just sitting there, unmoving and silent as ever, the occasional tear hitting the ground, before she looked over at her sister on the bed, and then over at Arrow with a somewhat begging look on her face.

Standing and rubbing her eyes, she yawned again before looking out of the door and this time, pointing down. She pushed her bottom lip out in an exaggerated fashion, so she was sure Arrow would get the message, before slowly walking over to the door, looking back at her sister once again and then leaving the room, pausing outside to make sure Arrow was following her.

Enid didn't motion for anything or make any other forms of communication until they reached the heavy bolted door to the dungeon far below the palace. Two of Cadence's guards stood watch and unblinkingly stared past Enid as she walked down the stairs. Her attempts at entering the room where met with reactions from the guards in the form of crossing spears by her neck.

She simply scowled and took a step back, narrowing her eyes as she glared at the guards. Taking off her helmet to show she was of no threat to them, they still didn't allow her to pass and simply stood there.

"No visitors. Lockdown protocol, only high ranks may pass without express command from the Princess herself" called another guard from atop the stairs behind them.

Enid couldn't think of anything to do, she was a part of the Crystal Onyx - commanded by Harmonic alone, there where higher ranks than herself, but surely she should qualify right? Maybe the guards didn't know who she was?

She turned to Arrow and shrugged her shoulders as if to ask why he wasn't saying anything.

Arrow winced slightly at the metallic swish of the two spears crossing by Enid's neck. He frowned slightly as he listened to the guardponys' explanation. How could one of Harmonic's own personal soldiers be barred entrance?

A part of Arrow was glad, though; going down into that dungeon would surely have only brought more trouble down round his head. He was about to turn and head back up the stairs the way they had come, when his eyes meant Enid's. At once, he was reminded of that moment in the alleyway when he had considered giving her up.

She really wants this... "Argh!" Arrow shook his head and let out a slight, frustrated whinny, stomping a hoof on the stone floor. He turned begrudgingly to address the guards. "How about if she's a member of Commander Harmonic's personal guard, accompanied by a general of the Crystal Army? Will that do?"

The guards exchanged glances, then nodded and lifted the spears back out of the way. Arrow nodded to them, then moved forward to shove the door open with his shoulder, grunting slightly. He stepped into the dungeon, and was at once swamped by darkness.

"I'll wait here where I can't be seen." He whispered to Enid. "But I'm right here if you nee - well, if something happens."

Crystal Empire: Steeleye Sungazer

Steeleye had merely nodded his understanding when Princess Cadence had addressed him. Giving her a short salute before departing, he made his way back into the corridors of the castle. As he had said, information was a centerpoint to his life. As such, there was no place he had as much information on as the Crystal Palace itself. It was an ancient place, dating to before the time King Sombra had his dictator phase. With a king like that inhabiting the place for so long, all manner of surprises were to be expected. Much to Steeleye's disappointment, secret passages were in short supply. Instead a plethora of deadly traps were hidden around every corner. Most had been deactivated when King Sombra himself was vanquished. Those that remained had run out of ammo, energy, or whatever made them function long ago.

However, one or two of those that could still function once activated were very useful. One particularly ingenious little contraption was a piece of teleportation magic. When a certain stone was stepped upon, it would teleport half of the pony in question fifteen feet away in a random direction, leaving the other half where it stood. This was in effect, cutting the pony in half and leaving them to die from the massive loss of blood that would follow. Steeleye had almost fallen pray to it himself, which was how he discovered it. Only the bastion of magical protection he had carefully woven around himself had saved him. He still suffered a couple of broken ribs despite this and in addition most of his wards were shattered.

After locating the correct stone, he set about the long and pain staking process of changing the magic spell that was bound to it. After a few accidental deaths of hapless test subjects, he had finally managed to over-ride the spell with one of his own. Now, when the correct spell was used, he could teleport himself to any place he wanted with exacting precision, so long as it was within the boundaries of the Castle. It may have seemed inconsequential, as he had teleportation magic of his own. However, those spells took and immense amount of effort, usually making it a one way trip. So it was much easier to use the trap in terms of power consumption and time.

A notable exception, as always seemed to be the case despite his best efforts, was Cadence's private quarters. It had so many wards tied to it, you could drop the sun on it and the blasted thing would just bounce back off. While yes, Cadence had powerful magic of her own, Steeleye somehow  doubted she was -that- capable. So, when he reached his quarters again he tapped the correct paver and was whisked away to his desired location, the room directly above Harmony's dungeon. It was one of those peculiarities of the Castle. It had no entrances and only one barred window, but it had a tubing system that allowed one to listen to the dungeon below, as well as talk if needed. "Having a bad day... commander?" he whispered into the aparatus.

Still suspended and helpless in his current state, Harmonic was flitting between fits of trying to escape the bonds, and giving up and awaiting his fate. Suddenly, there was a voice that seemed to materialise from nowhere, and yet behind him. Harmonic snarled, angrily working the muscles in his throat as he struggled against the chains again, trying to turn around and look to see who it was - the voice did sound familiar to him, but it was somewhat muffled and disoriented, making it so he couldn't quite put a hoof on who it was.

"Who's there?" He snapped in frustration "Either break these chains or leave"

Crystal Empire: Steeleye Sungazer

"I'm afraid you'll have to break those bonds on your own 'commander'," Steeleye replied with heavy sarcasm on the last word. "After all, while you may have not physically turned the key in the lock, you're the only one responsible for the situation you now find yourself in. In a novel pehaps, the villain would take time now to gloat, but I'll just skip to the punchline. The moment you advanced on Chrysalis was the instant you sealed your own doom. Enjoy what time you have left, because it won't be much." A clattering noise was heard as Steeleye dropped a small object down through the sound system into the room, though Harmony wouldn't be able to see where it came from. A small crystal, green in color, rolled into his sight range, glowing softly.

With a cracking of splitting joints, the crystal unfolded into an arachnid form. Chittering softly, it ignored the other two ponies present in the room, whom Steeleye was also not aware of. It scuttled up one wall and along a chain that bound Hamony in place before settling on his neck. It would grip his skin with small pin like legs, poising its teeth over the stallion's artery in order to get the perfect injection. This would take a couple of seconds, during which Steeleye went on his way. It also could possibly give the other two present an opprotunity to act.

@@@Ano170,

As the spider-like creature crawled up and onto Harmonic's neck, he couldn't help but shiver just at the sheer prospect of something like that crawling on him, he was bordering on arachnophobic as it was, this surely wasn't going to help. Shaking about in his bonds, he haplessly flung around before he managed to gather his energy into one strong tug.

Gritting his teeth, he forced all of his strength into pulling his strongest hoof free from the chains. The metal dug into his forelegs, cutting off the blood momentarily and eventually breaking his skin, causing blood to flow freely over the steel, but still he pulled in one strain. The metal groaned and plinked, and the rocks began to crack, causing dust to drop to the ground as the braces creaked away from them.

-Fwing- -  the chain pulled away from the wall violently, hitting him in the side of his head above his eye, again breaking the skin and causing him to bleed. Panting for breath as he finally managed to break one of his chains, he swung at his neck in order to dislodge the creature.

Before his hoof could connect with his neck however, the chain yanked his hoof away and magically reattached itself to the wall!

"Are you kidding me?!" he growled, dropping his head down in defeat as he sighed. In a last ditch effort to remove the creature, he tried to crush his neck against his shoulder, like he was trying to lazily scratch an itch.

Just as he tried this, he noticed another figure in the room with him...it looked like...Enid?

"Enid! Is that you? I...I need your help! Get this thing off my neck!"

She stood there momentarily, almost wanting to let him suffer for the way he treated her, but she couldn't, could she?

With a panicked look on her face in seeing his bloodied head and hoof, as well as him dangling from the roof as he was, she quickly used her magic to lift the arachnid from his neck and crush it. "Oh for the love of...thank you, Enid" he sighed, audibly relieved and somewhat desperate.

As if she was completely oblivious to the danger she had just saved him from, she walked up to the bars slowly and leaned against them, before pushing her hoof through and reaching to touch him on the muzzle. "Can you get me down from here Enid? I need to get out and tell Cadence what's happened!" he called out in a demanding tone, to which Enid simply closed her eyes and shook her head.

"What? What do you mean no? Look if this is about earlier..."

Shaking her head more, she shrugged her shoulders and pointed to the door, folding one hoof across her heart afterwards.

"The Empire? Cadence...? She can't have..." Harmonic sighed, looking back as best he could at the roof where the voice came from. "Then find out who tried to kill me, will you? Although I have a good idea, he's the only one who would use things like that..."

She nodded slowly, looking down at the ground as she did, before smiling at him and turning to leave.

(She folded her hoof across her heart to signal the heart symbol the empire wears. Harmonic has obviously known her for some time, so he's much more likely to pick up on what she's trying to tell him than others would in some situations - just hopefully making sense of that for you)

@@Agent505@@Justin ZW,

Time: Near midnight

Location: Crossways outside Canterlot

Never one to let the momentum slow down for even a second, one of the many small operations Steeleye had initiated was coming close to fruition in Canterlot. Though the heart of a nation was the ponies that populated it, the strength of a nation was based on what military might it could muster. The best strategists knew that there were many things needed in abundance to keep an army running, one of the most critical being food. Equestria, in its bounty, had no shortage of food anywhere. Famine was practically unheard of in current day and age. So, if the food suddenly ran out, the impact of a shortage could only become more deadly.

In a battle of supplies and attrition, what was most important was to cut off the enemy's source of supplies. While not paralysed by the destruction of the rail lines, the agricultural industry had slowed to the pace at which ponies could haul a cart over a long distance. This meant it came in bursts, with large dips and rises in the amount of sustenance as the convoys arrived and left. To exploit this situation to the maximum, Steeleye had sent a small group of psychopaths that could follow simple orders to due as such: When the food supply was lowest, right before the caravans reached Canterlot, this group was to utterly blockade the roadways and destroy anything that came past. Anything organic inside the wagons was to be burned without exception. Any loot worth keeping was their's to have.

Having just arrived at their designated positions, the bandits prepared to initiate their first raid. Many of the more bloodthirsty maniacs had to be restrained by their brethren, so as to not give the game away before it was time. Soon enough, the creaking of wagon wheels echoed through the tree-line as the produce convoy rounded the bend in the road. Total silence was kept until all of the carts were within reach, then with an uproar of war cries they burst through the foilage, pouncing upon the caravan in a hail of flashing blades, heinous spells, and biting teeth.

Then, she flew with her jerd to Canterlot to set up the plan that she and Cadance had talked over. The plan went without a hitch, so much that the changeling Queen was almost surprised. It was chaos for Canterlot tho; the station was completely wrecked, with several trains pulled over and destroyed, and, to the utter shock and horror of the guardsponies, this was all done by the Canterlot townsponies. In the end, the station was set afire and the guardsponies were forced to leave the site, or be burned to death. Chrysalis chose that moment to take her jerd back to the Hive to await further developments; they left, unseen by anypony, to the musical crackling of the flames which clawed up towards the full moon.

With all the drama finally taken care of, Sanguine left the palace, making his way towards his old home. Along his way there, his two pegasi dropped out of the air before him, between them was the initiate from the attack on Appleloosa, entangled by two bolas. Sanguine nodded at them, and they stood back when he knelt down before the initiate, "So, you were the one who was supposed to be on watch?"

Without giving the initiate a chance to respond, Sanguine continued, "Care to explain how you allowed a would be assassin to have a chance at harming our latest ally?"

The initiate was about to respond when Sanguine shook his head, staring him in the eyes, "You were slacking off, no?"

He was answered with a nod. Sanguine sighed, "You attempt to gain a place in my family, and you behave such as this? Not the most convincing thing," Sanguine stepped over to the initiate, patting his shoulder, chuckling when he cringed, "Do not worry. I'm not going to hurt you. I merely want you to promise to me that you will never let this happen again. Can you do that for me?"

The initiate nodded, "Y-yes sir. This'll never happen again."

Sanguine chuckles again, speaking distractedly, "Yes... You will never allow this to happen."

As soon as he was finished speaking, Sanguine pulled one of his daggers from under his robes, driving it straight into the initiate's jugular. He let the pony fall, still staring in wide eyed surprise in Sanguine's direction. Sanguine stepped back as the pony's blood coated the streets, laughing, "What are you so shocked about? I told you I wasn't going to hurt you."

He flicked the dagger's handle, "That didn't hurt, did it?"

Sanguine chuckled again, looking to his two pegasi who'd stood silently by, instantly losing his humor as he spoke, "Dump the body in a back alley. See if we can't startle a few citizens. But be sure to remove his uniform. Don't want to give them false hope, do we?"

He didn't wait for them to acknowledge and began walking again was the two followers went about his commands.

Dawn Wing glanced around. "Fine. If that's how you want to play it." He whistled sharply and about fifteen guards scuffled to the door of the room. "Men, let's kill all of these bastards. If they're loyal to him, then they need to die." His guards readied their weapons.

Swordpoint tensed. "A fatal mistake, Dawn Wing." He rushed Dawn Wing and swung the dagger, but Dawn Wing jumped aside. Dawn Wing returned the strike with one of his own, which Rainbow darted forward to block. Her dagger connected with Dawn Wing's, and she hastily slashed at his side, opening a painful cut.

Dawn Wing's guards began to enter the room, surrounding Sanura, Phylomon, and Golden Age. They held their lances and axes at the ready. "Drop your weapons, now!" one of them shouted.

Golden Age turned around, his back facing Sanura "The boys can join the fray, Ballyhooly, but company A only" Goldie said camly. His 17 soldiers slowly began trying to forcing themselves in the already crowded room. The Sergeant then went and sliced a deep cut in one of the Dawn Wig's troops, and thus began to dispose of the rest.
