THE WILD HUNT

Recommended Posts

Gildred was long gone from the tavern. She was riding through Dragons Bridge when she heard an all too familiar voice in her head.

"Gildred? You wouldn't mine killing a few spriggans for me would you? I need some taproots... they shouldn't be too much trouble. Just head over to Clearpine Pond, I'm sure you'll find a few there."

Gildred began trekking into the woods north of Dragons Bridge. It should only take about five minutes to get there. She reached her destination with ease. She saw a small island in the middle of the pond. She waded over and immediately noticed the stench to decay. On the island was a dead alchemist along with a chest. When she tried to salvage some of the things from the alchemist a spriggan suddenly emerged from the tree. Quickly she cast a dread zombie spell on the lifeless alchemist. He rose up from the ground and began to viciously beat the spriggan. In a few moments it was over, the spriggan was lying dead on the ground. She grabbed its taproot and stuck it in her bag. As she was rummaging through the chest she heard voices coming from the east. She quickly crouched, spell in hand, ready to dispatch any attackers.

Draco watched the group quietly as he continued to twirl wabbajack, changing random wildlife into different creatures. "As much as I enjoy traveling, id like to find something fun to do." He said calmly "like mammoth tipping, or maybe hopscotch!" He laughed maniacally as he turned a rabbit into a golfball, using wabbajack as a club he hit it away "fooore!" He yelled, as some poor hunter cried out when it hit him on the head, knocking him out.

Rhaz grunted in annoyance, "I don't like running from easy foes, I will obey my masters wishes, but I still think I could crush those weaklings! I hope that we fight somthing strong soon, my hammer "death" hungers for a challenge.....perhaps when we reach this cave of yours, we can do a bit of planning..." said rhaz.

*Alzack looked at the rest of the group troubled, he finally decided to speak up*

"Well, this seems like the kind of job that would require a lot of..... well, trust."

*Alzack scratched the back of his head.*

"Trust is an issue with me, as Im sure you guys could guess by my weapon. I have done some research into it myself and I know that the blade flourishes by killing those who trust the wielder. Now, Im not saying I would kill you guys, willingly, but it seems that whenever someone comes to trust me, I just black out, and when I come to..... well, they are dead and my blade is bloody."

*Alzack looked at each member of the group, with a serious look on his face.*

"So just, if you really need me to help you guys I will, but just don't trust me. Please, for your own sakes."

"Well at least I know who Not to trust now"

"So Do you guys want to fight or move ahead? there are still that group of guards around. I don't know if there on their side"

Draco grinned at alzack crazily "oooohhhh, so you've got a psycho streak do you?" He said calmly "no worries, I know how to handle nutjobs." He said with a sly smirk "and besides, I wouldn't trust you with safety scissors if it was up to me! But I would trust you with a giant sword, much safer!"

Eos patted his back with a wane little smile. "Then it's a good thing most of us likely don't trust easily," she said, and though her voice sounded cheerful something steely was behind it. While it was true, and she didn't trust most anyone, it would be nice to not have to stick her dagger down her boot all the time. That got really painful after a bit.

Deciding not to wear her distinctive armour just in case, she stuffed in back into her bag, and pulled out a simple short dress and boots. Though it offered little protection, so long as she appeared innocent, it was likely she wouldn't be attacked.

Hiding behind a rock wall she poked her head out and waggled her finger. "Now boys, no peeking-I'm a modest girl at heart," she said with a giggle, and she disappeared too get changed. As she did so, she planned her escape carefully.

They all were facing away, and if she was quick she could flee the scene. She prepared herself and then bolted, running as fast as possible away when it felt like she hit a brick wall and she fell back with a groan.

A misty figure of shadow appeared for a few seconds and stared at her reproachfully, and Eos scrambled to her feet and bowed to her mistress, praying she would speak-but the figure was wisped away as soon as it had appeared.

Eos felt her heart plummet, and she turned back and walked towards the group, good mood evaporated with Nocturnal.

"Are we going to go soon?" she asked grouchily, crossing her arms.

"I would have imagined you'd say something like that. Lady Mephala thrives off betrayal, as does Lord Herma-Mora from time to time. No matter, I doubt Mephala would have guided you to us so that you could destroy whatever hopes she and the other Daedra have in destroying Draxius and his legion..."

Stygian motioned for the other champions to gather and then pointed forward, indicating that they should get moving.

"Come, let's move forward once again, then we can talk about what we are to do..."

"Yes," answered Stygian. "And it would be wise if you simply stop struggling against your fate of being tied up with the rest of us Dunmer. Our masters usually have little patience for such hesitation, as I'm sure you've already seen..."

Eos frowned at him. "I do not defy my mistress," she said coldly. "I defy you." She widened her arms in a gesture. "You do not control us, Altmer," she said, adding some contemptuous tone to her last word, mocking him. Cocking her head to one side, she eyed him. "If you will not respect me, I shall not have any need to respect you. So how about you let this go, and we start anew?" She stuck out her hand and narrowed her eyes slightly, with a small smile.

"Funny how you demand respect, yet when we had our first encounter you threatened me with a blade. After that you also insulted an Orc like most of the foolish races of Man do. Choose your words wisely around me gray skin, or don't say anything to me at all. Then once I see you are truly more respectable than the common thieves of the sewers you crawl in, we will be able to start anew."

Stygian returned a false smile as a tendril slithered from his robes and lowered Eos' hand.

"Often I wish I was not a daedric champion."

*Alzack said.*

"Some may consider this a gift, as I am sure Draxius does, but me? I call this a curse."

*Alzack drew the Ebony Blade and held it in front of him.*

"This blade has taken so many lives. The lives of my family, my friends. I have tried to get rid of it, but it always comes back."

*Alzack had a pained look on his face.*

"And it holds my mother's soul captive."

*Alzack was silent for a moment.*

"Where are my manners, I haven't introduced myself yet."

*Alzack looked up to the group.*

"My name is Alzack Den, and I am the champion of Mephala. Its a pleasure to meet you all, for however brief a time it will probably be."

Rhaz chuckled as he walked past Eos "he does have a point you know, maybe you should be thee one to work on your manners thief....if you don't at least TRY to get along with us, then you'll end up despising us all....if you already don't that is....but then again, I've given you no reason to hate me ....besides me being an orc anyway..." said rhaz with a scoff and a hint of amusement in his voice. Rhaz then walked up beside stygian, "so....where should our first destination be? Personally, I was thinking windhelm, I think it would be wise to go there first.....remember when you asked me if I had seen or heard anything strange lately? Well as it turns out, I have heard one of draxius's demons were terrorizing the townspeople there....does that sound strange enough to you? Asked rhaz as he crossed his arms over his chest. "There's no need to be upset, Goldilocks," said Eos, shrugging. "Lady Nocturnal has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams, and if she commands me to 'crawl in sewers', I shall not defy her word." She smiled wanly. "And for the record, they're very comfortable sewers, now they've been cleaned up a bit. Steal from the rich, give to the poor-well, the poor non-humans, seeing as they're the ones robbing us all blind, poor elves. Then again, our coffers do get uncomfortably full on occasion..." She grinned. "As for the blade, what do you want me to do? Altmer are twitchy, you looked like the kind who'd give me up in a second. You have that kind of face, see."

@

Eos gave him a kinder smile; so far he seemed the only decent fellow of the lot. "A pleasure to meet you, Alzack," she said. "It is hard sometimes to distinguish between a blessing and a curse, but perhaps this is both. After all, it did lead you to this motley lot. I'm sure we'll all get along just fiiiine."

"A short while ago you said I had 'spunk', and now you call me rude? Guess that proves the peanut brain rumours I heard about you orcs." She frowned slightly, and then opened her palms in a defeated gesture. "Oh, yeah, I remembered, no humour around you guys. Suppose I can't be the blatant racist when we already have a few. Sorry."

She flicked out her dagger and began to polish. "Windhelm? Well, I do have some family there, being oppressed as per usual of my race. Oh, it's the life, being a Dunmer!" Satisfied with its already glowing sheen, she put it back. "Full steam ahead, I say, though we ought to plan this more thoroughly. Then again, never much liked Aunt Weedle anyhow..."

"Seems like some people are not getting along very well" Abraxus said as he was staying quiet not wanting to make any one mad. "I'm just glad we lost those hunters also" Abraxus thought as he looked at the sky. "Weben though I'm not a dragonborn I wish I could kill a dragon right now cause I'm a bit bored" Abraxus thought.

Draco smiled widely as the others argued "well, isn't this one big happy family!" He said sarcastically, as he teleported up to the bickering group. "I've noticed you've all got some emotional baggage, and some of you compensate for some things..." he said, motioning to rhaz "but if we wanna save the day, I suggest we get cracking!" He said with a large grin.

Rhaz turned to the Eos and grunted, "well first of all thief, I never called you rude, I merely agreed with stygian on how you should learn to use manners around others, but its not that I really care for manners myself, but then again I'm not the one mocking somone about the supposed size of their brain...' said rhaz with a chuckle before walking over and leaning against a large tree.

"Hmph, you do realize my hair is black right? Or has spending so much time in the shadows rendered you blind?:

Stygian chuckled and then turned to Alzack.

"My name is Stygian, Champion of Hermaeus Mora. A curse you say? Perhaps in your case it is reasonable to think such things, although..."

Stygian approached Alzack a bit closer and whispered.

"Lord Mora has many tomes of knowledge, all of which he has allowed me to give to others..... for a price. I'm quite sure I can find something to help you deal with your 'curse'..."

Stygian then walked away from the Redguard and looked over to Rhaz.

"There's quite a bit of demons nowadays, but I suppose that's a good place to start as any. Come to think... Windhelm is one of the oldest cities in Skyrim, the first really... Perhaps something of interest is holed up in there..."

*Alzack smirked at Eos' sarcasm, but when Stygian mentioned that there may be a way out of his curse, he looked hopeful. The look lasted for only a moment. Alzack shook his head.*

"Dont get my hopes up, please. I dont think Mephala would let me go no matter what I did."

*Alzack put the ebony blade back in its place on his back. he reached into his pocket and took out a whistle. He held it up to show the rest of them.*

"Horse whistle."

*He said with a smile.*

"The Ebony Blade isnt fed by the lives of animals, so I keep a horse for company."

*Alzack blew the whistle, and after about a minute later, a medium sized white horse trotted out of the woods. Alzack went up to the mare and pet her mane.*

"This is Ivory. She always stays close."

*Ivory whinnied and put her nose against Alzack.*

"Yeah yeah, I know what you want."

*He said. He took an apple out of his backpack and fed it to Ivory.*

Stygian watched as Alzack called his horse. It would serve as a good aid to the Redguard should anything attack them...

"Let's not keep our masters waiting, to Windhelm then..."

"Wait. Windhelm?  that's clear on the other side of Skyrim" After seeing the other agree on the choice. Zora gave up. There was no way to win against them.

"So we are a Giant family now are we?" Zora sighed and began the long walk towards Windhelm. "One last thing, I know how to enchant items If you want to know"

Zora looked up and saw the Sun and where it was. He check his bow to see if it was still taut, it was.

"We better move soon Night fall is several hours away. Unless you all have eyes like mine, We will have to set up camp once we are out of this area" -If Hircine want me to help them, then I shall-

"It is going to take a while to get to Windhelm but if one of them said its worth heading towards then it might be a good idea to go"

Draco followed the group happily, whistling the whole time while twirling wabbajack. "Ahh, don't you just love the smell of adventure in the afternoon!" He said cheerfuly "but personally, I think chees smells better, but I'm not gonna argue." He teleported to the front of the group and began to skip, singing "we're off to see the wizard" from the wizard of oz movie, transforming a nearby bear into a small dog resembling toto.

Rhaz pondered zora's and abraxius's words, before finally answering, "well, I cannot say I am tired and it is true that I cannot see in the dark....but that doesn't really bother me as much as it does most of you....so I don't think we should camp just yet....besides, every self respecting adventurer carries torches with them at all times, just in case of caves or tombs...." said rhaz nonchalantly before reaching into a small bag he carries on his belt and after a moment, he pulled out a few torches and held them up to show the group, "does anyone in the group besides the khajiit need a torch? If you do, then help yourself, but I cannot provide a scource of fire to light them...." said rhaz with an indifferent shrug.

Zora turned and face Draco.

"Do you want to be caught?" Zora was about to tell off Draco, until he saw the bear turn into a dog.

"Forget it" Zora gave up trying to make sense of this loon.

Hearing that Rhaz had torches Zora thought for a moment.

"What about that mage? what's her name" -I need to remember their names now- "Can't she use fire magic to light them?"
