Lily_Mae 36 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 I dunno if anyone started this topic before but here's the story. Not too long ago, I was driving my mother home from church. There was a junction where I had to make a right turn. The road I had to cross was a double lane so you can imagine it's rather hard to make it across. Anyway, I saw an opening and I drove towards the first lane. There was a lorry coming but he slowed down to let me pass. Unknown to me, there was a motorcycle riding beside the lorry which I honestly did not see until the last minute. I was turning in and that damned rider insisted on going ahead. I nearly knocked into him but thank goodness nothing happened. Here's where it got really infuriating. It was not enough that he shouted like a madman, calling me stupid and whatnot. He got down from his bike, asked me to roll down the window, and launched into a tirade of rants and curses. He said something like "What if I die? Can you pay for it?" and "Are you stupid? Do you even see where you're going?" My mother kept apologizing but was he happy? Nope, he wanted to scold and curse some more. "What if I die? Will your life be enough to pay for it?" At this, my mother said, if you die, just kill me. That made him even more unhappy as he said "use your brain". The motorcyclist was carrying another passenger which I assumed was his mother. You would've thought his mother would calm him down but guess what, his mother was equally as bad-tempered as him. She joined the ranting too. She claims that she has a relative working for the Department of Road Transportation (road accidents are not their concern actually) and "Did you know I can bring your car to the police station?" "Just because you drive a big car (I was driving a MPV), you think our lives are worth less than yours? I pay road tax too (motorcyclists don't have to pay road tax for your information. The government pays for them)," the son ranted. Well, we just kept apologizing even though it was not worth apologizing to a-holes like these lunatics. Some driver that passed by honked at the motorcyclist and that guy shouted at the driver too. He insisted on taking down our car number so we let him (because it served no purpose and we did not knock into him). That's my little story of my encounter with an extremely mad (and insecure road bully and his equally insecure mother [vicious cycle alert]). What about you guys? Have you had any memorable encounters?
SoarinBlue 202 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 I am consistently surprised by how many bad drivers are allowed on the roads. I've never had a road rage incident, but I have yelled at people fruitlessly from inside my car. Most recently because someone blew a yield sign and nearly t-boned me doing 40 in a residential neighborhood
Flow 1,629 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 Ah road rage, I don't drive a car (Yeah shameful cause I'm nineteen) but I can tell you guys a time where someone out of nowhere was driving too close to the car I rode in, then he changed lanes and showed the finger to us while passing by. Well, it was his fault. Another one was when my oldest brother raged at a driver for cutting him off and nearly causing a crash, he was so pissed he threw the cup of coffee he had to that car. That just shows how mad he was, but I laughed a lot when he told us that. OCs: Flow / Love Bloom
Gone Airbourne 21,977 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 People are idiots plain and simple... Whenever I am out driving I always try my best at least to think about others and not retaliate. What good does it do to get angry back at someone else? If someone behind me is tailgating me I assume my same speed regardless of the person behind me. Road rage and people who think the world revolves around them makes me sick .
Shadow Link 29 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 I will obliterate whoever did that to you, Lily. That's horrific how people could be that rude. I won't actually obliterate him since apparently sending people to the Dark World is illegal in this century. It wasn't as bad as yours, and the people had a cause, but I still didn't think it was very nice. My mom was safely driving while talking on her phone. She wasn't swerving or anything, she was driving normally. But then up come these two guys in a crappy looking car and told her to "Get the F*** off of her phone" and then proceeded to speed down the neighborhood that we were in. They sped about 30 miles over the limit after telling my mom to get off of her phone. 1 Thanks to Dopey Hooves!
Lily_Mae 36 June 23, 2013 Author Share June 23, 2013 Well, all sorts of angry thoughts can surface but it's good to keep calm. Just apologize to them even though sometimes it isn't your fault entirely. Better to let them rant all they like and go away than stay back and fight for nothing. No need to stoop to their level. Seriously, I don't see a reason to shout at someone talking on the phone while driving. If they cause an accident, they'll answer for it.
Ignore Me 14 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 I personally don't have a story cause I'm 17 without a license (for now...) but that is simply terrible. May I ask, why didn't you just drive away after the first minute?

How can someone think causing a scene like that, in a public street, with a total stranger no less, is okay? Let alone over something so trivial and clearly not your fault? Lily_Mae 36 June 23, 2013 Author Share June 23, 2013 Seems to me that he and his mother have inferiority complex. They think raising a scene would justify their innocence but they're far from that. Jeez, some other drivers even horned at him, apparently annoyed at him but he's thick-skinned enough to shout at them and ask them to keep driving. Ignore Me 14 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 Sounds about right. The gall these two must have had to do so though, if they have such a complex. An odd combination to feel so inferior they value their time above others.
Lily_Mae 36 June 23, 2013 Author Share June 23, 2013 Like mother like son I suppose. What about the rest of you brony drivers or passengers? Have you experienced any memorable cases of road bullies? I'm sure it's bound to happen to some of us.
Flutter's lover <3 8,206 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 As a cyclist....I've met road rage people, and I've also met completely ignorant drivers....that don't give a fuck about a cyclist on the road (or sidewalk)if the road is really busy, I'll ride the sidewalk, and to get to the mall,I have to drive past abunch of drive-thru/take-aways...and95% of the time, drivers don't look for pedestrians or cyclists, allthey care about are getting back on to the road and so they only look left to wait for an opening in traffic. so I usually wait until I make eye contact with the driver before proceeding across the entrance of the restaurant. Though some people have tinted windows, and I can't see fuck all. it pisses me off. tinted windows should be illegal. I've been hit and almsot been hit several times....I give the car a good smack on the hood before riding off. 1 Fluttershy's lover, she's my waifu. Cyan Blue 946 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 Bad drivers suck, they just do. Road Rage drivers are the worst (even though I haven't encountered one, thankfully). Luna 831 466 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 Yes bad drivers that brake to soon or turn to slow when they make a turn are the worst road rage drivers are the worst on the freeway. ask-princess-luna/
rarity1 461 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 (edited) In my country, most people buy their licenses. There are many bad drivers and it's not uncommon to see dead animals on the road, I see at least one in a 2-3 day interval. Road rage is very common, I've seen drivers overtake just to park in front of others, I've also seen drivers overtake cars at a corner which is very risky. Some drivers don't even use their indicators. When the light turns amber it usually signals to other drivers to speed up to avoid the red light. Luna 831 466 July 25, 2014 Share July 25, 2014 That is crazy they do that here to and it is the worst when it is raining I almost saw and was hit in a head on collusion. ask-princess-luna/
Celtore 2,770 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 (edited) I have a bit of a temper when I get behind the wheel. I never act on that anger though, I do my best to drive defensively and move with the flow of traffic. I know I'm driving a hunk of metal at high speeds and the last thing I want to do is cause an accident. Overly aggressive drivers really make me mad, possibly more angry than being stuck behind someone going 20 under. Not only are they putting their own life in danger, but mine and everyone else on the road. They put us all at risk just so they can get to work on time. What a self-centered, inconsiderate thing to do. They're the only ones that ever get my horn, and quite deservingly too. Luna 831 466 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 I agree if they are worried about being late to work then they should leave early so that they dont have to speed or be in a accident or put the rest of us in danger. ask-princess-luna/
