Gigapony 650 July 1, 2013 Share July 1, 2013 (edited) So this was inspired by the "What pony would be most likely to eat meat?" thread. And the consensus was generally that Applejack would love to do her some down home grillin' with a great big ol' rack o' ribs. I agreed. And then I drew this. Shanks 10,816 July 1, 2013 Share July 1, 2013 (edited) I am glad that I could be a source of inspiration, I like this picture but then again the Applejack fanboy loves pretty much any pic of Applejack so nicely done to both the pic and the ribs that Applejack is barbecueing. dedacct6 2,591 July 2, 2013 Share July 2, 2013 Wow, I love it so much. Did you do this free hand? Not that I don't trust the drawing, but I'm just wondering. But either way I still love love love it, especially because its made with pencil.
Rainbow Skywalker 642 July 2, 2013 Share July 2, 2013 (edited) All my Yes are belong to this picture XD The drawing is really neat, the hair is straight on and everything. Personally, I've found 3Q positions a bit hard to pull off, but you seem to have no trouble with it. And now I want an entire episode dedicated to grilling out. And a song too, "At the Barbie!" (Of course the singers would have to be Australian) Edited July 2, 2013 by Rainbow Skywalker 1 Signature by Azura みぞれ 恋人 (:
SoarinBlue 202 July 2, 2013 Share July 2, 2013 A+ breh, this is really well done. I particularly liked the "Grill Sergeant" apron. Color this if you can, it's a real solid piece of fan art
Zygen 6,066 July 2, 2013 Share July 2, 2013 Haha, this is great! I love it, looks well drawn overall! I also love the apron that says "Grill Sargent" . Looks great, I've seen the thread where the inspiration is from so it makes it all the better. Good job! 2 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Gone Airbourne 21,977 July 2, 2013 Share July 2, 2013 That drawing piece is absolutely outstanding ! Major props to you for drawing this. I would love to see a colored version of this but still this is awesome. I would think Applejack would be one amazing cook at that.
Silverwisp the Bard 2,353 July 2, 2013 Share July 2, 2013 I'm really starting to like your style. Only problem I can see is that the hindlegs might look better a wee bit farther apart and that the outline of the apron might look better if it extended a bit farther over AJ's left foreleg. Major kudos for the grill, looks very show accurate-ish (that's a word now). Did you draw inspiration from something? 1 My Art Thread, updated (almost) daily Tomorrow will take us away, far from home No one will ever know our names But the bard songs will remain. Gigapony 650 July 2, 2013 Author Share July 2, 2013 Thank you all! I'm very glad you liked it. I would really like to colour it, and once I learn how to vector it's going on my to-do list. @, indeed it is freehanded. Though I did refer back to my Applejack reference to make sure I got the hair just right. @@Silverwisp the Bard, cheers mate, I'm glad you like it. Good call about the hind leg, I was actually wondering that myself when I was drawing it. As for the grill, I'm really happy you said that, as I was really trying my best to get it to look like it "belongs" in the show style. I mostly tried to make it up as I went along, but I did look heavily at other props in the show (specifically the Flim Flam bros' cider machine, as well as the train) for inspiration and to study the style. The hardest part is basically "switching off" what I know about perspective and angle because of how "abstract" and 2D the show's style is with props (especially anything round/cylindrical). Scootalove 10,689 July 2, 2013 Share July 2, 2013 That is a pretty funny picture. That drawing pretty much shows how Applejack can be really good at grilling food and being honest.
