Need help with my OC.

So I have had my OC brewing in my head for a while, but there is one thing I can't get right, and that is a name. I was wondering if you good ponyfolk could help me out here?

 

I'll let my OC talk about himself a little here:

 

"When the three tribes of ponies left for the land now known as Equestria during that terrible winter, some unicorns were left behind. You see, they guarded arcane knowledge, some of which was very dangerous. Rather than destroy it, it was kept safe so if anypony were to accidentally re-discover it, a counter-spell of some kind could be reverse-engineered. After most of the other ponies had left, they had to fend for themselves, believing all the others to have perished. They managed it, I do not know how, as the chronicles were lost. Eventually, they decided to find out if anypony else had survived, and found Equestria. However, there was an accident, and the majority of the remaining unicorns died, leaving just one. My mother. She brought me up travelling, until she passed away also, leaving just me.

Now I have decided to stop travelling around, and I want to settle down somewhere, and Ponyville feels like the ideal place..."

 

Any ideas?

i don't think  could possibly name him based on that info. Also, to me the wars took place long long long LONG before so any relatives would be the great great great great GREAT grandparents rather than the parents. That is, if your OC is living in the same age as the show is aired now.

 

Most Ponies have names to do with their cutie mark or color or both. Such as Rainbow Dash, color and speed. Pinkie Pie, color and talent for making cupcakes and other baked goods... then you have ones like Rarity, which to me is that she finds rare gems. Fluttershy cuz she can't fly very fast and is shy. the Flutter part also has to do with her cutie mark.

 

So anyways, figure out what the cutie mark is and it might make it easier to name him. Also what is he good at? What's his personality? ETC.

Was he initiated into the keeping of the secret lore by his mother?  If so, maybe he could have a name like "Greyhoof Sigilseal" (kinda aiming for a Gandalfish-sounding name ) that points to his role as the last of the Lost Adepts (or whatever they're called).

I should point out that, yes, his parents are descendants of the group left behind. And his mother did intiate him, he has sole access to the lore.

 

Edit: And as for the cutie marks, its a scroll. My avatar is him (althpugh you cant see the CM).

Well, I do take a long time over thinking of things. Doesn't help that most of my best thinking is done just before I get to sleep, and is lost.

 

Anyway, I have decided on Greyhoof Scrollseal (Thanks Roko's Basilisk!), just got to iron the rest of him out, but now I have the name I think I can manage that.
