Once upon a time, in a village named Ponyville, there lived a family of earth ponies. There was the mother, Diamond Splash, the father, Rocky Road and their daughter, Red Roses, but everyone called her Little Red Riding Hooves or just 'Little Red' for short.

The town of Ponyville was a peaceful place and because they were so closed to the Castle of Canterlot, they never experienced any hardship or disturbances. Yes, everything was wonderful.

Little Red's mother, Diamond Splash came from a family of miner ponies. She was raised by her mother, Diamond Sparkle, who taught her everything there was to know about gems. Diamond Splash loved mining for gems, in fact, she got her cutie mark after she realized she had a knack for locating diamonds! She thought she would never leave the mine, and her grandmother, but of course, all fillies must grow up and find their one true stallion or mare, and she did. Diamond Splash met Rocky Road, when she traveled to Ponyville to sell her wares. They didn't like each other at first because Rocky was abrupt and had an odd sense of humor, and Rocky didn't like Diamond because she thought gems were more important than dirt. But the two soon learned to love each other, and after a tearful yet joyous farewell to her mother, Diamond Splash came to live in Ponyville with her new husband.

Two years later, Red Roses was born, and her parents were overjoyed, as was her grandmother. Little Red was as sweet as sugar and loved just about everyone. She was quick to make friends and she always tried to find the good in everypony. Unfortunately that one trait would get her in a lot of trouble later on.

"So you remember where to go?" Diamond Splash asked her daughter for the fifth time that morning.

Red Roses groaned, "Yes, mom! Come on, you've asked me that a gazillion times! As soon as I enter the forest, I keep straight, I don't wander off, and I keep going until I reach the mountain path. Then I go down the mountain, where Grandmother's cottage is." She recited.

"Okay...But if you get scared-

"I won't mom."

"But if you do-

"Mom, come on!"

"Fine, fine, go on. And remembered not to stop for anything or anypony, okay?" Her mother called, as Little Red trotted out of their house.

* * *

Little Red had been on the forest path for about an hour, before she noticed the beautiful purple flowers that had seemed to appear out of nowhere. She hesitated, one hoof in the air, and half turned towards the flowers, while her other hooves pointed in the direction of the path.

Oh what could happen? It's not like I'm running miles away from the path! She reasoned in her head and approached the flowers. Gently she began picking some out and placing them in the basket meant for her grandmother. She's gonna love these!

A sudden rustling in the bushes in front of her, caused her to jump and stumbled backwards back onto the path. The bushes continued to rustle and then suddenly a strange creature popped its head out.

"Wh-What?!" Little Red, gasped nearly dropping her basket in surprise.

She had never seen a creature like the one in front of her! It seemed to be a mixture of different animals! It's body was of a dragon, one foot was a birds talons, it had a hoof too! If she was surprised now, what happened next, nearly caused her little pony heart to leap into her throat.

"Oh, I'm very truly really sorry! I didn't mean to startle you."

It could speak! No not it- He. Little Red composed herself quickly and put the basket down for a second so she could speak.

"That's okay! I just wasn't expecting..."She trailed off, she didn't want to offend him by saying 'something like you'.

The dragonlike creature laughed heartily. "I am a draconequus. Seventy percent dragon, and little bits of everything else."

"A draconequus! Wow~ I've never met a draconequus before!" Little Red gushed, her eyes sparkling with interest.

The draconequus grinned, and came a bit closer to her. "And I've never met a pony as pretty as you." he purred.

If she weren't already red, Little Red's blush would have been visible from 600 feet in the air. "Oh, teehee. Thank you! I'm Red Roses, and you are?"

"Well its certainly a pleasure to meet you, Red Roses. My name is Guiles. Might I ask where you're heading to, by the way?"

"I'm taking this basket of goodies to my Grandmother in the mountains!" the mare responded, her mothers previous warning vacating her mind completely.

"The mountains? Oh dear, I was just there, and that path is blocked by a pack of timberwolves! Nasty beasts they are." Guiles said.

"Oh, but how am I supposed to take these to my Grandmother then?!" Red Roses wailed, her ears drooping with sadness.

Guiles seemed to think for a bit, "Well...I do have a little giant bat blood in me, so I could fly you there." He offered and turned around to reveal that he did indeed have large leathery bat wings.

Red Roses heart leaped with hope and joy. "Oh would you really?" she exclaimed and Guiles nodded.

So Guiles picked Little Red up and flew her to her grandmother's cottage, where the three of them had daisy tea and apple pie.

The end.

Readers: Wait what? You said that her easily accepting people would get her in trouble!

Me: Oh did I?

Readers: YES!

ME: Well it will! But not in this story! Ehehehe.
