Norman 177 July 10, 2013 Share July 10, 2013 I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but essentially here's my point. I have no idea how to art. I have a drawing tablet, and pencils lying around but nothing ever turns out for me. I'm the kind of person who needs very, very detailed instructions and usually taught to me face to face. Thus I'm having difficulties with art. So I was wondering if there were any extremely detailed and comprehensive tutorials to pony art, both digital and traditional medians (I'm not super picky, but I do want to put this tablet to use". I use Artrage Studio for my tablet software.

I can't say more for your tablet since I'm in the same boat right now. I had bought a tablet yet I can't draw very well. Though, have you tried listing what you wanted before you draw it? Draft a plot and it'll all unfold if you plan. 1 SCOOTALOO = Best CMC PINKIE PIE=Best Pony LUNA=Best Princess
Quilava 1,290 July 10, 2013 Share July 10, 2013 There are many places to be found that can help you to start drawing ponies. There's this image here, which may help you out a bit. There are MANY tutorials on Equestria Daily. This page here should help you quite a bit as there are a multitude of different guides that are broken down into certain parts of a pony's body as well as images pertaining to certain parts. (also contains the one I linked above). You can also check out DeviantArt for tutorials. Hopefully this helps you 1 ^~Signature by Me~^ ~^Click on the Image above for already made signatures/graphics^~ Request A Signature | Have a Question? | Signature Tips/Tricks

Now they may seem boring at first but getting a strong structure to the fundamentals is VERY important! But I digress, you wish to draw pastel ponies after all. There are several places which you can find tutorials but those which are rich in detail and users which are willing to help you in a personal matter are tricky to find. I'm not here to leave you in disarray though, far from it, I'm here to help You can visit the link in my signature and follow it to the pony Reddit artist community. From there they have a good collection of tutorials to choose from and words of wisdom to assist you. You can also visit the Tutorial Compilation at Equestria Daily, quality will range but many are quite in depth and will assist you in learning to draw (even beyond ponies!) We also have a Let's Learn to Draw Ponies thread within Creative Resources. Every week or so we shift from image to image and draw what's posted. While it may seem silly to do something as such it's a great way to learn how to break down an image and learn how to reconstruct it yourself. Once you know how something's built it's MUCH easier to emulate and draw it yourself. You can also grab some "How To Draw" books at your local library. Take a peak into the book though because just like online tutorials they'll vary in quality and depth. But no matter what you choose to do, personal motivation will be what determines your outcome. Don't be tough on yourself and start on something simple. It doesn't need to be anything fancy nor bodaciously awesome, do what you believe is within your power and give it a go. For example, start with a portrait drawing of your favorite character. Don't think about perfecting every curve and little bit of detail, just simply relax and draw what you see. It may not come out perfect, or perchance it will, but remember the following: Every professional or good artist started where you're currently at. Art is a practice, there's no formula, algorithm or shortcut available to us. Just like sports and many other skills in the world, it just takes good 'ol practice. So don't stress, grab that pencil, relax and have fun Edited July 10, 2013 by Accellerant 1 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ If you do not GO after what you want, you'll never have it. Norman 177 July 10, 2013 Author Share July 10, 2013 Wow, thanks everyone! I'll be sure to take all of your advice. I might actually pick up some pastels considering I've always wanted to do them. As for school art lessons, I'm in them but my teacher isn't very good. She gives us no flexibilty, and she denies all of my project ideas until I'm stuck with something too complicated, cliche and impossible to do with my current skills. Blique 211 July 10, 2013 Share July 10, 2013 (edited) http://purplekecleon.deviantart.com/art/How-I-See-Color-A-Tutorial-184642625 This person draws pokemon rather than ponies, but the style is still applicable. It's about color theory rather than style anyway, and it's wonderful to learn from. Very, very detailed and comprehensive. Edit: Oh, I take that back, Purplekecleon does draw ponies. Lovely, lovely ponies. http://purplekecleon.deviantart.com/art/One-Trick-Pony-355491985 Edited July 10, 2013 by Blique I make digital art, traditional art, scarves, and crafts. http://mlpforums.com/topic/65309-bliques-ponies/
Zygen 6,066 July 10, 2013 Share July 10, 2013 Well theres always just learning from experience by drawing your OC or a random mane 6 pony a bunch, eventually you'll get it down somewhat maybe. Studying pony anatomy either on the pony anatomy thing (which is somewhere), or even real pony anatomy might help. Looking at and studying other pony art or show ponies might help. Or you can even look around on the internet and devientart for some tutorials, I know theres plenty of them. Anyways, good luck . Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig!
