Cloud's ears perked up and he looked to see Mercer and some other griffon flying in their direction. He sighed, not really wanting to see Mercer, but nonetheless sat down and waited for the two to land before limping over to speak to Mercer...

Nidal came to C2's side and had him lean against her to stop the limping. If they were going to meet Mercer, best to not show weakness.

*Mercer and Riza landed in front of the group.*

"Im back, and Im ready to help you find the elements and fight Discord. And, I brought my new friend Riza, she knows a lot about medicinal herbs and stuff like that."

"H-hello." *Riza said nervously.* "Its nice to meet all of you."

Nidal stopped C2 and went up to BM. She looked at Riza, then back to BM, then back to Riza. "What does he mean to you?" She pointed at BM as she spoke.

*Riza blushed* "U-ummm, I-I don't know. We just met, but.... he has been kind, and he is fun to be around and... and.... and......." *Riza looked at Mercer desperately.*

Nidal ignored BM and called out to Crystal, "Can you put us in a soundproof sphere? Me and Riza here." Crystal nodded and put a shield around the two of them, leaving Mercer out of it. She walked up to Mercer and sat down a bit away from the shield. "I'm sure the two'll be fine." In a lower voice, she spoke so that only Mercer could hear. "You do know what she is, right?" She figured it would be fine for Mercer to know as he was one of them as well.

 

Nidal sat down inside the sphere and kept looking at Riza. "Supposedly, nothing you say can be heard anymore and I know for a fact that the outside walls are opaque. They can't see us from outside, so they can't read out lips. You say that you just met him... yet you were willing to fly with him. Why?"

*Riza blushed again* "Ummm, well......... He was kind, he is the only Griffon I've ever met that hasn't yelled at me, or been mean to me, and.......... and I guess I love him for that."

((I think you're trying to imply that nearly all griffins are mean and the like. That makes me irritated. Just saying that her experience with griffins has been around the violent examples, which are not as plentiful as the peaceful ones.))

Nidal rose an eyebrow and chuckled a bit. "You love him because he was nice? There's no other reason? In my long long life, longer than yours by a couple times most likely , I've met plenty of griffins who would be considered nice. Some of the griffins were violent and tried to tear me to shreds or eat me or just assault me, but that wasn't very often. I'm not sure which griffins you've been around but trust me with this one: He will betray you in a moment's notice. Keep a sharp eye on him. Those are the only words of advice I can give you on him. What you do is your choice, though."

*Riza shied back* "Mercer is....... Mercer is the only griffon...... the only living being other than my mother that hasn't abused me. My father and brothers were cruel to me all the time, the other griffons living with us would torment me and bully me. But Mercer.... when I first found him, laying unconscious, I saw something in him, I can't explain what it was, but when he woke up, and after we spent some time talking............ I knew........... I knew that he was one that I could trust with my life. So I do. I trust Mercer, and I believe that he would do anything to protect his beliefs, and those that he loves."

Cloud gazed at the blue sphere, waiting for Nidal to finish speaking with Riza. He would then glance every now and then at Mercer, an expressionless look on his face, unsure of what to think of the griffon.

"You rest a lot on a griffin who most wouldn't trust with a dime. I hope you really do know what you're doing, for your sake. And you might want to act normal, even when around or talking about him. I knew how you felt about him the moment I heard your first response." She tapped once on her element to bring attention to the bandana. It made a small noise as if he had hit a gem but it was slightly muffled. "Do you know how me and him are similar? There's a single thing that keeps us alive. Do you know what that is? And do you know what that entails?"

"Honestly? No. To all of those questions. Even if they may have been rhetorical. And I don't care. There is nothing that could change my view of Mercer. I can tell, I can feel it in my very soul, Mercer is good. I know it."

Nidal pulled the bandana up over the crystal, revealing her element of greed. "I am greed, of Discord's order. Mercer, he is betrayal. Mercer, I have no idea if his will to betray Discord is enough for him to break away. It could very easily be that he's still following Discord's orders and is trying to get close to us so that he can take us all out without a fight. Being good or evil has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I know that I would be considered evil in the eyes of many. I steal, kill, and use others to get what I want... and what I want right now is the option of death, which can only be gotten from the elements of harmony. Things aren't as black and white as you seem to see them. Open your eyes and see the world for what it is and the creatures living there for what they are. If you still think in the 'good or bad' scale, change that. The world is a much more confusing and complicated place than that. She stood up and walked over to the edge of the shield. "Any last words before we return to the others?"

"Only that I will never stop trusting, or loving Mercer, no matter what you say. I believe in him. With every fiber of my being."

Nidal shrugged. "Good luck, then." She pulled down her bandana and clicked on the walls twice, the sound audible from outside. Crystal put down the walls and Nidal went back to C2. She whispered, "She seems fine if a little obsessed over Mercer."

Cloud shrugged, "that's her own risk" he replied, looking to Mercer, he limped over to him, with an emotionless voice he said, "We need to talk"

"I agree." *Mercer told him.

"Ill be right back." *Mercer said calmly and kindly to Riza, then he walked over to Cloud.*

Cloud sat down and glanced to Crystal, "Could you kindly make that shield again please?" he asked her

Crystal nodded. "Just tap on the walls twice when you want out." Her horn glowed and the two of them were encompassed by her soundproof shield.

When the force field was formed, he looked to Mercer, thinking of how to begin. He sighed and looked to the ground, "Mercer... I am only saying this because I feel it is right for you to know... I wanted to thank you... for all you have done for us. I may not have shown any gratitude for what you have done, but I really am thankful. That said, I cannot say my actions toward you are not justified. As easy as I find it to be able to trust you, I cant, you are the element of Betrayal. You above all others have the highest potential of betraying our group, and thus I cannot trust you. I do hope that you understand.... and if you are truly wanting to be rid of your burden, then I will do what I can to help you, maybe even learn to trust you when you are cleansed of your element..." he looked at Mercer waitng for a response...

*Mercer scratched his head* "I understand your reasoning. If I was in your position, I probably wouldn't trust me either. I never asked to become the element of betrayal. When I killed my father, I was.......... not fully there. My father had originally betrayed Discord. He lived in peace for some time, met my mother, and together they had me. But as I grew older, I began hearing voices. Voices telling me things that I should never have heard. Telling me to do things that I should never have done. And eventually, it drove me mad. I killed my father, and Discord found me, and gave me Malak's element. Later on, I discovered that my father's soul still resided within the element. He could talk to me. Induced a kind of Schizophrenia. It drove me even more over the edge. And eventually, the guilt that my father's words bestowed upon me led me to betray Discord, and seek his downfall. I travelled, and after a while, I met your group. I saw your element in you. Identified you as my brother-of-soul, and decided that I would do whatever I could to help you. To try and gain your trust. I know it is a long and difficult road, but it is one that I must travel. To be able to live a peaceful life. With my friends, and with Riza."

Cloud thought about what Mercer said, "I see how your life has lead you down the path that it has. I sympathize for you Mercer, but I still refuse to trust you, at least until your element is cleansed from you. I cannot say we are friends, but I can say we share a mutual understanding of one another, agreed?"

"Agreed. So, will you at least trust me enough to allow Riza and I to accompany your group on this quest of yours? We can be very valuable. Im am rather proficient in combat, and Riza is a genius with herbal medicines and remedies."
