Alright airbender lovers. For those of you who are not aware, there are 3 comic book series out detailing the events of the series. The first one titled The Lost Adventures is a single graphic novel that details moments throughout the entire series through mini storylines. These are used to help flesh out some of the episodes a bit more and serve as great filler moments for the series.

 

The second series is called The Promise which takes place the day after the television series. It follows Zuko's struggling rule as Fire Lord and details a very real problem concerning the Fire Nation and the Earth Colonies. Lots of good humor but some very serious and dark moments as well. Great read.

 

The third one, and the one I wish to discuss, is The Search. Part 1 and 2 are out now and it details Zuko's search for his mother. These are the books everyone has been waiting for as we ALL want to know what exactly happened to her. However, let it be warned, my little ponies, that this is probably the darkest and most mature AirBender storyline since the final few episodes.

 

Basically it follows Zuko, Aang, Sokka, Katara, and Azula as they seek the truth of Zuko's mother. During this time, we are shown flashbacks into the mother's life before and during her relationship with Ozai. We are shown a ton of mature situations including things such as murder, kidnapping, insanity, and so on. While none of these things are graphic, it's a very mature storyline concerning Nickalodeon characters.

 

And let me tell you...If you though Azula was psychotic in the series...you really come to terms with how utterly sick she is in this book.
