books Got some comics, opinions needed.

So I made a status about this but dunno if anyone saw it and I didn't have much to say about it so I didn't make a topic but now that I've read them I do and want opinions and recommendations.

 

So, first of all, this is pretty much my first foray into the world of physical comics aside from the Sonic comic. I do, however, read a lot of webcomics and have read much manga in the past so I'm not a total comic noob. I know there are cultural differences between the different types of comics but after hearing people talk about certain comics that aren't available online I've wanted to give them a shot.

 

I found a comic shop that had one dollar first issues to get people into a series and just got a bunch of them to sample. The ones I grabbed are:

 

Shadowman

House of Night

Manhattan Project

Morning Glories

The Hero Discovered Magic

The Walking Dead

 

Now remember these are all just the first issues so if the series' are different later on I wouldn't know but my first impressions are that all of them are fairly interesting in one way or another except The Walking Dead which felt like it hadn't really started at all.

 

I particularly liked The Manhattan Project and the fact that the Doctor was actually his brother who ate the real Doctor.

 

Morning Glories has some pretty interesting twists and it sorta reminds me of Gunnerkrigg Court because of the mysteries surrounding the school.

 

I picked up Shadowman because I thought maybe this was what the game Shadow Man was based off of (which I found out the game is but only loosely.) but kinda has the same deal as The Walking Dead where it looks like it barely started but it's far more interesting.

 

So, opinions on these series' if you've read them and any recommendations are welcome. Also a reliable place to buy comics from if I can't find them in shops would be helpful. I know Google exists but that doesn't tell me who is reliable and not.

 

As a side note: I saw volumes 1-3 of Scott Pilgrim vs The World and I wanted it but each one was $25 and I only had $13 to play with which is why I went with the one dollar comics. Sad though, cuz I got interested in them after playing some of the game. @_@

I have all walking dead comics so far! (I could of spent that money on a computer...) And in my opinion, they're great! The artwork is amazing for the first 6 issue until the artist changed, it dropped quite a bit but quickly picked itself back up. The story works out quite well, and the characters are realistic & relatable.

 

The real story gets going around issue 3, the first 2 are more like an introduction to the character and the setting. I heavily recommend you continue reading it!!!

im not much of a comic reader but i love the walking dead comics and deadpool comics i have like 20 deadpool comics though

The Walking Dead comics are good and The Manhattan Project was extremely interesting and is an original comic.Scott Pilgrim was awesome and If you ever get a good amount of money to spend I recommend getting the comics.
