Bass, still without proper thought, simply nodded with a "Mhm". He then let the Stallion up, and waited for him to return to the bed before following. Afterward, the tan unicorn snuggled up under the covers of the plush bed, this time with the other pony. He pulled himself in close to the white unicorn, and just cuddled, not caring about anything in the world, just enjoying the moment, without thought.

 

"I'm sorry that I almost ruined everything, I didn't mean for any of that to happen." Kaz said gently. He knew that everything would be okay between Bass and himself as he lay there in Bass' arms, nuzzling the top of Bass' chin with his snout. "I don't think you know how much I love you, Bass." He whispered to Bass without moving from this still position. They stayed like this for what felt like months, frozen in time as one entity.

Left with nothing to do and nothing left to loot, Starshine trotted out of the show area and into the night. His saddlebag was much heavier than it was yesterday, he was starting to wonder if any of the ponies would start getting suspicious. He sighed, he had acquired enough to support himself for a months or maybe an extended expedition, no more looting until next week.

 

The colt trotted alone through the night to a park and climbed the tallest tree he could find. After making himself comfortable with the leaves, he laid down there on the biggest branch, eyes staring to the night sky. Where would he go in this sorry life of his? He had accepted that likely there would never be anypony who would take care of him. He had accepted the life of a fugitive, in a world that believed him dead four years ago. More than enough times he had braved against the boundaries of the civilization and plunged himself into the forgotten realms of the wild. He had learned more than he could possibly imagine back then when he was still in the orphanage, but how much closer it had carried him to his journey's end, nopony know. He pursed his lips. "Good night, mom, dad."

 

That night, his sleep was a peaceful one.

Bass finally came back to thought. Pondah took a while to finish eating his cabbage ends as being threatened with mace caused him to lose his appetite. When he did eventually finish his food, he left the bin alley and moved onto the next order of buisness.

 

'It's getting late. I'm going to need somewhere to sleep. I liked my spot from yesterday so I reckon I should return there.

 

Now that he had a mild cognitive map of the area, Pondah was able to return to the hotel with relative ease. He went back round the side of the hotel to his grassy verge and began to get settled.

 

'Let's hope that tomorrow is even better than today.'

He said with heavy breaths in between. They just lay there, lying there, next to each other... This was happiness. Kaz needed nothing more to be convinced.

Bass, still being tired, was the first to pass from consciousness. He lay there, nuzzling against Kaz when he drifted off. This night, there were no dreams. He couldn't imagine things ending up better. Albeit, he will still have to make sure Kaz will be true to his word about behaving better, but he wasn't thinking of that anyway. He just sealed the bond, and it was settled. He'd make it work, and that was that. His sleep was deep, calm, and very relieving, to say the least.

Sunny's cheeks blazed still, but it was getting to be less out of awkwardness now. She smiled a bit and nuzzled Candy back as she thought. Candy had pretty much explained how Sunny felt about her. She hadn't thought about it, as she had been distracted by just being with Candy, but she knew how she felt. Whenever she simply thought of the mare, it made her heart skip a beat and sent butterflies to her stomach. She sighed.

"I don't want to leave your side, either..." she said, yawning and continuing to nuzzle Candy's neck.

"I love you," she mumbled, almost as an afterthought, and through her tiredness, she didn't even realize she had said it aloud.

"I don't want to leave your side, either..." she said, and though she hadn't particularly meant to say it out loud, she mumbled, " I love you

 

 

Candy could've sworn her whole coat changed to red the moment she heard those three words come out of Sunny's mouth. She hugged Sunny tightly, then pecked her on the lips. "...I love you too...Sunshine." The words echoed in her mind, both from when Sunny said them, and when Candy returned them. Candy sighed, "I've been so afraid to say it but now...you've taken away that fear...and I don't know how to put into words just how much I love you." Candy's heart was racing. She almost felt sick. A good kind of excited-sick. It didn't bother her though. She was so incredibly happy that tears started dripping from her eyes, and she rested her forehead against Sunny's. "You're so...perfect." She hiccuped through her joyful crying.

Sunny blushed in unison as she realized that she had spoken her thoughts. She didn't realize she was holding her breath until she let out a big, relieved breath at Candy's response. She had been afraid she was going too fast and had messed up her relationship with her.

"I know we said that when we agreed to be marefriends, it was the happiest moments of our lives, but that moment has just now officially been topped for me." she giggled, and returned the peck. 

"These past two days have been the most wonderful days of my life... I love you, Cotton Candy."

"I know we said that when we agreed to be marefriends, it was the happiest moments of our lives, but that moment has just now officially been topped for me." she giggled, and returned the peck.  "These past two days have been the most wonderful days of my life... I love you, Cotton Candy."

 

 

Candy's heart was beating on overdrive, and was pretty sure Sunny could feel it. She laughed nervously even though there were still tears running down her face. "I love you too, Sunny." She hiccuped, "And I want you to know..." another nervous hiccup, "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me." Candy released her grip on Sunny, and got off of the couch. "C'mon." she pulled Sunny up, and towards her bedroom. "Let's get some sleep..." She stopped shedding tears by now, "Besides," she cleared her throat, "I wanna be able to wake up to that beautiful face of yours." She smiled as she laid down, and Sunny joined her. It didn't take long before both mares passed into the realm of unconsciousness.

The sun shone in through the window and onto Sunny's face, waking her up. She yawned and looked at Candy, smiling.

"So yesterday wasn't a dream..." she mumbled, almost inaudibly.

I should probably wake her up. I almost hate to, she looks so peaceful, not to mention beautiful.

Sunny gently shook Candy's shoulder, not enough to annoy her but enough to wake her up.

"Morning, beautiful."

Candy rolled around for a moment, coming out of her dreamy state. When her eyes finally opened, she looked up at her marefreind and let out a yawn, squeaking a bit at the end of it. "Good morning, Sunshine." She pulled the mare into a kiss. She finally released her, and said "I missed you...when I was asleep. It's good to see you...real you, again." She chuckled. Then snuggled up to the mare while they were still laying down. The apartment was quite cool, Candy buried herself in the covers and in Sunny's fur. "You're warm." She smiled, closing her eyes. "Warm...and many other things." She giggled.

Tendrils of sunlight began to appear over the horizon as a new day was heralded. The warmth on Pondah's body woke him up. Groggily, he rubbed his eyes and rose to his hooves. He looked around. Something was different and Pondah started to panic.

 

'This isn't where I went to sleep yesterday! I'm back at the forest on the edge of the city! I must've been sleep walking. Let's hope I didn't do anything else in my sleep...'

 

Pondah was slightly calmed by his explanation and he began to walk into Baltimare.

 

'Let's see what happens today.'

Sunny giggled and nuzzled Candy's neck. 

She would have been happy to stay there, cuddling with Candy all day, but after a little while, her stomach let out a growl. She giggled and sat up slowly.

"We should probably get some breakfast. Do you want to go somewhere or eat here?"

"Y'know, you really wouldn't have to brush that mane of yours. I don't know how you manage it but you're beautiful with a bedhead as well." She smiled. Candy lead Sunny into the kitchen. "I'll be honest, I've been living so sloppy, I have no idea what food I have. Hey, take a look in the fridge. I'll start a bath for when we finish breakfast." She blushed, "If you're okay with that, anyway." She wanted to facehoof so badly. "A bath? Together? Now you're just gonna sound weird." Candy smiled defensively.

Bass finally dazed into awareness. WIth a large yawn, he turned to face to unicorn laying next to him. "Huh? wha?" He mumbled still reorienting himself. "Oh, uh, g'morning. Nah, guess I was too beat to dream er somethin'." Then, with a low rumble from his stomach, he had to add, "Can we, heh, get some food? I'm starving." As he finished his question, a slight smile overtook his face as he remembered his newly proclaimed status, as being completely positive of their future.

Everyday for him was the same; get up, go to work, work on trains, come back home and sleep...to be honest he kind of liked it.  As Rut-Light got up he felt something he never felt in a while; he felt rested, as he started to get ready for work he had a mental plan of what was going to happen at work today, for today he would successfully have an extremely old steamier restored.  

 

First he had to place one more part back on the train; the Brake Handle. Secondly he would have to build up steam and then slowly drive it down to the steam works to have it un-rusted, re-painted and oiled.  Third he was to head to a E.R.W Teutonic, number 1301 with a wheel arrangement of 2-4-0 where a fireman would be waiting, one who would shovel coal into the firebox and keep the fire burning strong.  It was requested by his boss yesterday before he left that after he finished restoring the locomotive, to take the Teutonic so that they may pick up a passenger train and take them to a station so that they may board and get to Baltimare.  By now he was walking out the door of his house and off to work, off to finish what he started.

Sunny grinned as Candy said she still looked beautiful with her bedhead. She hated her mane like that, but it was nice to hear. She turned to go to the fridge, and was glad she had turned away when she heard the rest of Candy's sentence because she immediately felt like her entire face became a deep, blazing scarlet.

What does she mean? A bath together? Maybe I just heard her wrong or misunderstood...

"You're going to take a bath after breakfast?" she asked, pretending to be nonchalant as she looked inside the fridge.
