Bubble's sketchy explanation of intent shocked Pondah for a good reason. "Were you making a weather machine?" Pondah assumed. "I drew up some hasty plans for a simple one before I came here! Perhaps we could help each other." Pondah's eagerness and excitement that someone else was working with a similar invention cause him to speak quicker and quicker.

The mention of work brought him back down to Earth. "Work's great!" Pondah exclaimed. "It feels really good knowing that I'm helping. I may only be doing small things in large scheme and the rest of Equestria may never know or care about what I do; I don't care. At least I know I'm helping. That's all that matters. Shall we go?"

This is what Rut-Light liked to do sometimes, trot around Baltimare and just admire the city in its entirety, yes it made him feel small but when he was working on the rails he felt like he was helping to build a bigger picture of something. However, as much as he liked to see the sites, he liked the feeling of just being in his home and planning out what he'll do once he goes to work he next day; planning things like what locomotive is best for the job or what the best route is for him to take. "Maybe I'll get to take a freight train somewhere tomorrow, wouldn't surprise me if I did. Anything is possible though."

Skycoaster

Sky was soaking in the tub, most of the black coming off of him, his wings had relaxed and were now at his side. He closed his eyes for a moment, thinking about that last cloud. He than realized what it was, why that storm may have been getting out of hoof. 'BUBBLE!' was the first though that went though his head.

Sky slowly got out of the tub, dripping wet, as he did a quick wing check, flexing them. than going to the mirror to check himself over. Other than the singed spot on his tail where the lightning struck, he appeared to be fine. The rest and soaking had helped his sore mussels and wings. Now it was time to check on his hunch.

@@Aerodynas,

"Sunny!" Sky yelled down the office. "Have you seen Pondah lately? I need to go take care of something."

@,

Bounding ahead, Bubble was already at the stairs when she realized that - once again- she was about to leave Pondah behind. Doubling back, she grinned sheepishly and returned to an almost-normal pace beside him.

"It's my sisters design! She could never make it work properly..." She looked down at her hooves and blushed a little. "Everypony seemed to doubt that I could do anything... I just wanted to prove them all wrong..." She mumbled. "It... kind of worked... I guess? Uhm, just don't go in there without me..."

The machine did work, to her credit, and considering that sections that should have been welded were stuck together with tape, it was an achievement in itself. She had, however, stumbled on the same problems that her sister had.

It was unpredictable, and it wasn't really suitable for use indoors.

Easily forgetting this as she trotted beside Pondah, the cheerful mare beamed at the world around her as if nothing at all was the matter.

"I'm really happy that everythings going well, you deserve a bit of good luck for once!" She chirped merrily.

Pondah ran ahead slightly to catch up with the over-eager Bubble. He nodded slightly as he listened to her. "It's normal to want to prove ponies wrong," Pondah said, trying to console Bubble. "I think ponies will think you can't do anything serious because you're a joyful soul. Ponies like you are expected to be useless at anything serious." Pondah turned his head towards Bubble and smirked before continuing.

"The thing is, the erratic ones are the most likely to think of things nopony else will. The zany ones are used to defying convention." Pondah breathed a long overdue sigh of relief.

'Who would of thought it? I've been back for a few minutes and Bubble has attempted murder! Sometimes, things are good.'

Stumbling on a lump in the carpet, Pondah's head snapped forwards again. "Yeah," Pondah agreed. "I've been overdue some luck. Thing is, the more I think about it, the more I realise something. I've only met you and Sky because I took a chance on coming to Baltimare. I only got a job because I took a chance on Baltimare. I've started smiling because I took a chance on coming to Baltimare. I've made my mind. I'm moving here."

@,

Bubble forgot to breath as she did a double take at what her friend had just said: not because he was moving - that made perfect sense - but because... well, it was Pondah! It was only within the past couple of days that he had started to make decisions about what he wanted to eat... and not even very well at that! To hear that he had decided to settle down in Baltimare...

"Ponder that's... Hic!... great!" She gasped slightly as her body reminded her that air was actually pretty important. "Wow, that job really... Hic!... brought out another side of you! I'm... Hic!... really proud!"

She smiled widely - nudging him gently in the side as she bounded about.

@,

Sunny chuckled happily as she heard him call her out. "He went on outside. Didn't really hear why but he looked like he was on a mission," She laughed. "Why? Is everythin' alright? The storm's over so there shouldn't be too much trouble." The mare then proceeded outside the bathroom door awaiting an answer.

"You have to establish the horizon. You have to mark the white. A simple enough act, you might say, but any act that re-makes the world is heroic. Or so I've come to believe."

Pondah giggled at Bubble's  reaction to his plan. "Moving isn't that much of a big decision," he explained. "It's not like I have any major preparation to do. Once I get some money together, I can move my few posessions over here." Pondah smiled and continued, "Anyway, it should be easy. Mr. Sky offered me a room so as long as I can earn a bit a month, accomodation is easy."

The smile stayed on Pondah's face as the pair walked down the corridor and into the lobby of the hotel. As they exited the hotel, Pondah was bumped sideways by a nudge from Bubble. A confused look crossed his face as his cheeks flared red. 'W.. what was that? That nudge felt warm... and nice. This is strange.'

@,

"Oh!" Squeaked the mare as she recoiled slightly - realising her mistake several moments too late. "Sorry... you don't like being touched, do you?" She added, veering away a little to give him some space - not that it made much of a difference with how she was bouncing about. "See? I listen!"

For all the smiling she did, the relief here was the most genuine. Of course, she wasn't lying about being happy usually - just because she was using smiles to shut out other emotions didn't mean that they were false... but having her friend back, and having everything work out so well for him? that was something she was truly happy about.

"N.. no," Pondah said quietly, the smile fading from his face after seeing Bubble's worry. "I.. it's not that. You've nudged me before and I'm getting morre used to physical contact. I just felt really strange for a moment. You haven't done anything wrong." Pondah's head drooped. "Sorry if I made you worry."

The pair left the lobby of the hotel and started heading towards the office. The streets were bare and dotted with puddles. It was evident that the storm made the residents of Baltimare too worried to come out. Pondah and Bubble's steps were accompanied by a variety of splashes and ripples.

As he walked on towards his home, Rut-Light saw two ponies that he recognized; Pondah from earlier in the office and Bubble from...'When was the last time I saw her?  That's right, I directed her to the station at work.'  He had no idea how he could forget seeing a mare quite like Bubble in such a small time frame.  Without stopping he walked right past them and said a cheerful "Afternoon you two."  and just walked away towards his humble abode.

@ and

Pondah turned his head to the source of a greeting. It took a few moments but he was eventually able to place the pony as the one who turned up at the office for a short period. "Hello,"  Pondah replied quietly as Rut-Light moved away.

The office was in sight and the ground was still littered with puddles. Lifting his mane so that it didn't get wet, Pondah traversed the puddles and stood by the door.  He gulped and prepared himself for what may happen next.

'Please Mr. Sky isn't angry that I left...'

@,

Bubble watched - uncharacteristically quiet - as Pondah answered the train-pony, beaming as she bounced alongside him and making it a point to jump in as many puddles as she could: they were just asking for it after all!

As the pair found themselves at the doors, the slowed. Pondah looked nervous, she thought. Why? Had he left without telling anypony? For her? She bit her lower lip at the thought - she didn't want to be the reason that he got in trouble if that was the case!

"Are you okay?" She asked, pressing up against him reassuringly - looking at the stallion with concerned eyes - stark contrast from the constant joy that she usually radiated.

Closing his eyes, Pondah took a few deep breaths, completely oblivious to Bubble's gaze. "It's ok," Pondah replied, slowly opening the door. "I'm sure I'm just being stupid and worrying over nothing."

Pondah entered the room to an eerie silence. No one was in the downstairs area so, Pondah concluded, everyone must be upstairs. He rubbed his hooves on a mat to try and dry them and then held the door for Bubble. "Is anypony still here?"  Pondah asked loudly. "I'm sorry that I'm not working."
