"Ah, that was refreshing," Richard said as he finished his last sip and left 20 bits on the table. "Keep the change," he said, he always felt good being generous, too much money corrupts, he gives 1/4 of his profits to charity, 1/4 for taxes, and the other half on luxuries.

Since Richard was busy overpaying, Bubble pulled out the battered notebook and quickly amended her highly detailed plan:

'Much better!' She thought, smiling to herself at her own insight and forward thinking. It wasn't often that she planned ahead, so she felt that she may as well do it properly.

'Dear Celestia, I sound like I'm almost begging her for something I can help her with, stop talking, let her talk, you're smothering her in your talkativeness. The stallion blushed. Starshine couldn't help but to be weirded out a little bit. He knew that he was being paranoid, but something just didn't seem to be right. He had learned the hard way that not everyday you meet a pony who would go out and try to befriend you without any motives behind the attempt. He gulped. "Uh... sure? I guess I can be your friend, as long as you won't ask me to do anything."

 

Slowly Starshine stood up. His hooves were still unstable, but he should be strong enough to trot around. "Heh, it shouldn't be your fault that you don't really feel like meeting new ponies. It's not like everypony can and will help you when you need it."

"Your what?" She said, unsure if she had heard the pony correctly: had he just called her 'my dear'? Why would he say that?

 

She flicked an ear and shrugged it off, putting it down to him possibly being a little eccentric.

 

"Uhm, no. I'm okay!" She said brightly, ensuring the notebook was safely tucked away in her saddlebag beside the glass vial.

I nodded. "L-Look...do you need..." I shrugged off the thought. This is a unicorn, for Celestia's sake! He could help himself. "L-Look...I don't plan on making you do anything you don't have to...and yeah, MOST people out there don't help you do a [bUYSOMEAPPLES] thing. But...yeah, that technically stops the conversation on that for me." I sighed. "What do you plan on doing?"

Starshine let out a small laugh. The stallion was a weird one, but at least he seemed to be an honest pony, not the one who would fish somepony else out for something, although he was a bit pushy.

 

 

 

"What do you plan on doing?"

 

"Try to survive until I can get on the train to... Baltimare?" He answered bluntly. It took him two seconds before he realized what he had just said and facehoofed. In his rush to name any random city he chose the city he was currently in. "I mean... It's not of your business. Personal stuff, no hard feelings. Anyway, you haven't told me your name yet."

"S-Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you about that." I then cocked my head to the side. "I did say my name...didn't I?" I sighed, then adjusted a bit on the ground. "Well anyways, my name is Lightning Chaser...wait..." I looked around. "I can't find my glasses!" I gasped, searching around for them. I finally found them on the ground, and sighed. I put them on, and looked back at Star. "So..."

The excitement from the white stallion was reassuring, to say the least. Bass then simply held his smile as they entered the warm cafe. Just then, he realized how close he was standing to Kaz with all these other ponies around, and that made him a bit uneasy. He edged a bit away from his 'secret' partner and adjusted his expression to attempt to not seem suspicious to the other ponies, some of which he met yesterday.

 

Not noticing that Bass had edged away, Kaz walked up to the counter of the cafe and ordered two frappuccino's with extra oats to go and started to fiddle with his hair whilst they were being made. "I promise you, you're gonna love these. They're so awesome!" Kaz said over the soft music, quite typical for a cafe like this to be playing.

"I bet, heh." Bass muttered, still a bit uneasy about how close they'd been in public. He tried his best to disguise this feeling to Kaz, but y'know, he's a musician - not an actor - so it didn't hide too well. He smiled a bit toward Kaz as he spoke, in a feeble attempt to reinforce his disguise, as he added, "Real peaceful tunes they got here.. not really my style, but it's whatever heh."

He tried his best to disguise this feeling to Kaz, but y'know, he's a musician - not an actor - so it didn't hide too well. He smiled a bit toward Kaz as he spoke, in a feeble attempt to reinforce his disguise, before saying, "Real peaceful tunes they got here.. not really my style, but it's whatever heh."

 

"I like it, maybe you could do something more mellow like this, kind of acoustic-ey. It would be nice." He replied. Kaz still didn't notice that Bass was agitated and seemed perplex about the whole "public" situation between the two of them but he wouldn't care if he did.

Bass pondered the suggestion a minute, before remembering the song he DID create that accidentally played, and led to the events of last night. This thought brought a slight blush to his face as the details reappeared in his head. He let out a small cough, and noticed that their drinks were ready. "Oh, those do look pretty good, Kaz." He released, trying to not get caught up in thought again.

So much concern over what others will think, yet nopony else has even noticed yet? Ah well, I can change that! Also, loving how the names / avatars change now, I didn't see it before because my phone doesn't register it.

 

 

 

Noticing a face she recognized from the day before across the cafe, alongside one she did not, Bubble waved excitedly over past Richard and towards the couple.

 

"Oh! Its... you! And somepony else!" She said excitedly before remembering that she didn't know one of them and had only met the other in passing. Oh well... that just meant that she could meet someone new!

Bass tensed up a bit as Kaz spoke, being he clearly heard where he was going, and was sure that the pink pony calling them heard as well, "Heh, well it was nice seeing you again." he clamored to the mare, and rushed him and Kaz out the door. He took a few breaths, to slow his heart rate, and looked at Kaz, super worried. It took him some time before he tried to formulate a sentence to say, but nothing came out even then. He just frowned and looked down at the ground. "Oh jeez, Kaz. I-"

"Oh... Sorry, I didn't know you're names. I didn't mean to be rude..." She said more quietly, hanging her head slightly. "I just like meeting new ponies and you were there and I was..." She trailed off: maybe today wasn't going to be any better after all.

 

How did she keep inconveniencing everypony she met? She never seemed to be this bad at talking to others before!

Suddenly, Kaz was being shoved out of the door by Bass without even being able to say goodbye to the new pony he had just met. Kaz watched Bass as he stared at the floor and pushed his chin up with a hoof, stared into his eyes and said "Bass, I'm so sorry, It just slipped out. It won't happen again, I promise."

Bass just stood there, but after a moment, he levitated his shades up and set them on his forehead, so he could get a better view of the stallion in front of him. Still holding his frown, he could feel his insides turning every which way, and tried to respond, "I- I know you didn't mean it." His heart began to ache as well, because he really didn't want to hide it. He continued, "It's not your fault. I shouldn't ask you to hide it anyway." He then looked around, to ensure nopony was looking, and finding the normally busy street empty, he quickly pecked a kiss onto Kaz's muzzle, and said, "I promise I won't flip out again."

After cleaning most of the fruit covering the pony, Poison carefully folded the towel and put it back into his saddlebag. "Well, I still believe that you shouldn't have been treated this way by that unicorn... Unless you were stealing, but then again, shooting strawberries against you was definitely not the appropriate solution." He thought for a moment, inspecting the blue pony up and down. "Tell me. What are you exactly in need of? I will gladly help if I can!"

'Hm... this seems like a fast-track for a job. Perhaps I can help him at his job.'

 

Aftera moment of consideration, Pondah reached his decision. "Well," he said. "What I'm looking for is some form of employment. Then I can eat and have some money."

 

'Some real money hopefully.'

Bubble just didn't understand what she was doing wrong: sure she sometimes got told that she was annoying, that she wasn't taking things seriously or that she 'didn't understand'. Normally though, it wasn't with every single pony she met.
 
Back home she didn't struggle to make friends. Even her sisters friends had taken to her quickly. Here though...
 
'What's wrong with me? Why does nopony here just want to be friends? They either hate me or...'
 
Or they seemed to want to be more than friends, if last night was anything to judge by. Maybe she had put off her plan for too long: she should try and find out when she could take a train home again.

He really appreciated the gesture, a public kiss from his new special somepony but he feared that Bass' new career would be over before it began.

As this pastel mare raced out the cafe and almost threw Bass down onto the ground, Kaz tried to shout after her. "Hey wait! I'm sorry about before!" Although this was a loud scream, it was barely audible over the bustling traffic.

"I made sure nopony saw." Bass said, a slight grin growing across his face. "I just wanted to let you know I was serious." He then peered around a bit before asking, "So, what's the plan now?" Looking around he guessed it was around 11 or so AM, and continued, "I don't have to prepare for my show until 6-ish. We have plenty of time left." He began to sound legitimately more cheerful with his words, and slid his shades back down.
