@@Moonlight Fire,

"Don't worry, I won't eat the black berries, silly!" I giggled, eating another banana.

@,

I looked at the pony, giggling. "You look new around here, silly. Yes, we ARE going to Canterlot, thanks for asking! But hey...did you happen to come for Driftwood? He's really popular around here, I can assure you!" I jumped up and hugged him. "My name is Lightning Chaser, what's yours?"

Wandering through the forest Bardic started to fall behind ever so slightly: his mind was elsewhere and he was failing to take notice of the group he had joined. An empty book hovered in front of him as he walked, an owl-feather quill scribbling away as he took notes on the properties of the forest.

"Such verdancy, yet the climate is so cold..." He mumbled to himself as he pulled the woolen cloak tighter around him. "Of course the writings said as much, yet they failed to capture the beauty of..."

He continued on like this, keeping the rest of the group in sight with a glance every couple of minutes.

Never quite forgotten.

@@Frosty V,

"I wish I were a little less popular..." the pegasus mumbled after Lightning's remark., "Do you know what was following you? You seem a little out of breath... Welcome to the caravan, either way. I'm guessing you are some sort of courier?" Driftwood asked the new pony

"That's great, White! We can be best friend!" I said, hopping around White. "We can bake treats and kill guards OOH killing guards is so much fu-" I stopped as I realized what I was saying. I continued to bounce around White, however...

@,

I looked back and saw a pony being left behind. I hopped over and started bouncing around the mare, giggling. "Come on, hurry up! No time to record stuff in books!"

Frost put his book back in his saddlebag and walked up to the new pony "Nice to meet you Whiterunner I'm Jaeger." he said with a smile "Wow ponies just keep popping up left and right..." he thought "...ah well it's nice to make new friends I guess." He pulled out his book and continued to read.

@@Spiritual Nightmare,

"There must always be time made to record information" Bardic called forwards. "If my records of sea travel are for nothing, then these shall suffice."

That said, he did speed up to a trot to close some of the distance. Glancing around the group, he took sight of an additional pony - he hadn't even noticed up until now.

"... Perhaps you are correct. I shall write when we set camp."

I giggled. "Camp? We need to get as far as we can before we camp, silly!" I stated, jumping up and down. "What's more is that we don't even have wood or tents! Neither do we have pillows, or anything!" I bounced up to White and jumped around him. "This is going to be so fun we're going to get hay, flowers and EVERYTHING!"

Jaeger looked at the exctatic pony and laughed "If he is this crazy when he's being nice...I really don't want to see how crazy he his when he gets angry." he shuttered at the mere thought of it. "Well there's some good techniques for shelters in my book if that helps any." he said

@@Frosty V,

"Most practical. I have some knowledge but the shelters I can construct would be of little use here." He nodded approvingly - it sounded like a useful piece of writing, one that he would have to read at some point. "Though the sun always seems to dark here, I could not say how long until we might require them."

@,

"Before Celestia?" his face remained blank, but he whistled, "those are some very old coins." Whiterunner must have been an excellent treasure hunter to find something predating the princess, he was probably good at navigation too. For once, Driftwood's spirits were lifted at the fact that his companions were quite learned. Of course, he didn't show them that.

@@Spiritual Nightmare,@@Frosty V,

"Actually, Lightning Chaser, we will have to camp in the forest overnight. It's larger than what we can travel with only a few more hours of daylight remaining." He nodded at Jaeger in acknowledgement, "the branches and foliage in these parts can be used to make shelters for the night. Although I can't promise that they'll be very comfortable..."

I groaned, but still bouncing. "Do we really have to? I mean, come on, we can continue until the final hour of sunlight comes, don't worry!" I stated, smiling and bouncing more around White. "To be honest, it's going to be tough feeding all of us, but luckily we're camping by food, right?"

"I am relieved to hear that one of us succeeded in procuring the correct supplies." Bardic acknowledged. "Branches must suffice for those of us who were less insightful."

He gave the mare a polite nod and motioned to his own pack.

"Perhaps we can craft a fortress of some kind out of books and paper?" He attempted to joke.

"Yes, or perhaps we could all sleep under Lightning Chaser if he would stand still all night." Driftwood replied, making his own effort at a joke.

"We still have a few hours of daylight, but if we start setting up camp now then it'll be dark by the time we finish. We'll need dry wood for a fire, and shelter materials for those of us who didn't bring tarps or tents." He detached himself from the cart of seashells and set it by a pear tree. Jaeger sat down to continue reading his book while he pulled out his tent and blanket and began to set them up. He pulled out his knifes and slid them a few feet away "No need to endanger everyone again for awhile" he said under his breath, letting out a small chuckle.

I finally set up my tent, with a lot of effort. I then laid down on my bed, exhausted. I weakly got up and walked outside of my tent, where the rest were setting up their tents and whatnot. I finally decided to fly up onto the tree(forgot I had wings =w=) and look around. "It's all clear, guys!"

Bardic carefully placed his pack on the ground, as close to the center of the clearing as he could. Gathering some stones, he arranged them into a circle a short distance away before gathering some of the dead twigs from the surrounding area and arranging them in the center: a fire-pit ready to be lit as the sun went down.

Of course, Bardic had overlooked the fact that he had nothing with which to actually light the fire.

He dug at the ground a little with his hoof and eventually formed a small groove in which to sleep: the air was starting to grow colder and he was determined to be as close to the fire as he could be.

Turning back to the group, he assessed their work: some had brought tents. The helpful mare was doing something with the sheet she had brought. Others were cobbling together shelters from the foliage.

All of them looking far superior to his pit. But at least he would be warm.

@,

I looked down at Bradic as he did something with a firepit. Gently floating down with my wings, I landed right next to him and put my wings at my side. "Hey...do you need something to light that fire?" I asked, giggling. I started bouncing up and down, waiting for the stallion to answer his question.

Jaeger looked up from his blanket and saw Bardic laying in some kind of pit. He knew he had an extra blanket so he grabbed it from his bag and trotted over noticing another pony there. "Sorry to interrupt, but you can use my extra blanket if you want." he said extending his hoof holding the blanket.

@@Spiritual Nightmare,

Realization hit: how could he have been so stupid? Of course, you needed heat to light a fire: heat which he was sadly lacking.

"... Yes. I do." He said simply, more than a little embarrassed and his blunder.

'That is the result of rushing and not thinking your actions through before action on them.' He thought to himself.
