There was definitely an odd air about Soothing Serum, something that didn't sit right in Driftwood's mind... perhaps it was just because of the amount of ponies that had come to join him on this unexpected quest, but he was not quite sure. A pony with medical knowledge would certainly be useful though, especially on a journey such as this. This strange feeling about the pony, however, drove Driftwood to question the unicorn.

 

"Who told you that a caravan was headed to Canterlot?" He looked at Serum harshly. If anything, perhaps she had more information about the sender of the messages he had been picking up.

 

I sighed, sitting down my the cart. "You know, if SOMEPONY could hurry up and get over here, we'd have been long gone by now. Then again, I'm not supposed to make any intrusions...that's a lie..." I mumbled to myself. Escorting is about protecting whoever, or whatever, you're escorting. You HAVE to make intrusions...

Fire sharp walked over to the complaining stallion.

" Hello I'm Fire Sharp, I believe we met shortly while you were going after that stallion over there."

Fire knocked her head towards driftwood and then extended out her hoof.

"I was sent here by my acting general back at command to join this little band and I heard that you had similar circumstances."

Fire sharp walked over to the complaining stallion.

" Hello I'm Fire Sharp, I believe we met shortly while you were going after that stallion over there."

Fire knocked her head towards driftwood and then extended out her hoof.

"I was sent here by my acting general back at command to join this little band and I heard that you had similar circumstances."

I sighed, getting up. "Yes, we did meet. I'm Lightning Chaser, if you didn't know that already." I then heard 'command' and sighed with relief. "So you're from command...that's wonderful. Then I believe we met before, and if we didn't, then you must not have seen my around then." I sighed, sitting down again and playing with my trinket.

"Ah, no. I'm part of one of the special op teams, we don't socialise with the others at command. We're kept separate or we're just not there, out fighting in wars and such."

Fire looked back down at the stallion and saw he was playing with a trinket, her curiosity spiked a little.

"What kind of trinket is that? It looks quite special."

"Ah, no. I'm part of one of the special op teams, we don't socialise with the others at command. We're kept separate or we're just not there, out fighting in wars and such."

Fire looked back down at the stallion and saw he was playing with a trinket, her curiosity spiked a little.

"What kind of trinket is that? It looks quite special."

"It's a fire-thing. I think it has something to do with fire, anyways. Command or whoever wanted me to escort this and the caravan to Canterlot. He didn't really say anything else. You know," I looked up at the mare[stallion]. "This was really cheap, even though Command wanted it. It doesn't make sense, either, saying as how I don't know when, who or what needs it...maybe it's something to experiment on..." I sighed. "I don't know."

"My general just gave me a piece of cloth and said I need to go on a 'holiday'."

Fire sharp took the cloth from one of her pockets in her jacket and showed it the stallion, using her magic to make it float in front of him. 

"I'm not quite sure of the importance of the symbol but if they had to send out a special ops officer than it has to be something that concerns them."

Fire sharp took the cloth from one of her pockets in her jacket and showed it the stallion, using her magic to make it float in front of him. 

"I'm not quite sure of the importance of the symbol but if they had to send out a special ops officer than it has to be something that concerns them."

I nodded, giggling a bit. (But honestly, I thought you had no clothes on and he only gave you a cloth XD) "Maybe it's so when we get to Canterlot, the ponies there that work for Command will recognize you/us? I don't know, but I'm guessing that we both have symbols to make the other ponies know that we're from command...why do you think that your general gave you a 'holiday'?"

Bardic motioned towards Driftwood and the new pony, Soothing Serum. He had been listening intently as always. What better way to learn than simply listen to others? After all, the information that idle tongues let slip was fascinating.

 

"My deepest apologies for intruding..." He said.

"Excuse me, friend. Does something trouble you? You seem anxious in your questioning." He queried, deciding to step forward. He was full of questions about the rest of this party but at that moment, this seemed the most relevant. It wasn't simply the way he had spoken to the mare: Driftwood had seemed very short tempered since they had met. "I mean no disrespect, simply that If there is any way I can be of service..."

Fire sharp looked down at the ground after her little speech. She sat down next to Lightning, bringing the piece of cloth infront of her.

"But yeah, maybe it is some kind of code or pass for us when we get to canterlot. But they would've said so, they wouldn't have left me in the dark about something like that."

They would have told you if that was a sign or not, cause otherwise...maybe it's not supposed to be a sign or whatever. Maybe it's just something for you to hold on to?"

Jaeger had dozed off on a rock waiting for the rest of the group to come back from their shopping. He opened his eyes and saw some new ponies, he was startled by the newcomers and almost over dramatically fell of the rock. "Owww....that one is gonna bruise." he thought to himself

Driftwood recalled his actions that day, "I've been on edge all day" he said solemnly "I'll be fine once we get going. This has all been very... sudden."

 

He approached the wooden cart again and put the saddle of it onto his back and strapped it around his midsection so that he could pull the cart along with him.

As he finished attaching himself to the cart, Jaeger fell over. Driftwood stared at him, unimpressed for a moment.

 

"If we're all ready, we should leave now. It is noon, and we need to use the daylight we have."

"If it was something they just wanted me to hang on to they would've said 'hey look Fire, I got ya a prezie'."

Fire sharp tried to do her best impression of the general but it wasn't that very good.

"No, it was important enough that he had to keep quiet about it and even had to cover up the real reason why he sent me here."

Fire sharp then got up from the floor and started to follow driftwood as he pulled the cart.

Watching the pony from before take a tumble of his own almost drew a laugh from Bardic, before he remembered his manners. "Take care my friend. Two injures before we depart is not a good omen." He smiled.

Jaeger blushed "Wow, a mercenary like yourself falling like that...pathetic." he chuckled under his breathe before raising a hoof from behind the rock "I'm gooood." he laughed as he stood up "Yeah going sounds like a great idea." he said blushing as trotted next to the cart.

"O-Oh...by the way, that was an horrible expression of the General. I could do him better, if you want." I giggled, getting up and following Fire Sharp as she followed Driftwood. "Hey, by the way, when we get there should we present our stuff as well?" I asked, still wondering if these were signs that we're from Command.

Fire sharp laughed at that and then answered Lightnings question.

"I don't think we should, if they wanted to keep them quiet then we should too. Just in case it's something that's not meant to be released to the normal folk."

Fire sharp laughed at that and then answered Lightnings question.

"I don't think we should, if they wanted to keep them quiet then we should too. Just in case it's something that's not meant to be released to the normal folk."

I nodded, understanding her logic. "Well...I can safely say then that it's a secret for just us..." I wondered, looking around me. I forgot that these ponies were around..."Oh. Well...I guess it can be a secret to us, the 'Caravan of Canterlot', I guess." I sighed, my legs hurting from everything that has happened.

The pony caravan headed off in the direction of the forest, some local Seaponyport ponies looked curiously at the strange band as they passed by. Driftwood, listening to Fire Sharp and Lightning Chaser's conversation, wondered what they were talking about.

 

"Hey, you two," he turned his head slightly so he could see them in the corner of his eye, "what are you talking about back there?" he faced forward again, he didn't want to walk into another pony, considering what happened the first time he'd done that who knew what would happen the second time.

"O-Oh, nothing Driftwood!" I replied, looking back at Fire. "So...maybe..." I groaned as I forgot what we're talking about. As soon as I remembered, I looked around us. Ponies were glaring at us, staring at us, some even hiding from us. "Is this what it feels like to be shunned, Fire?" I asked, turning back towards her.

Moonlight Fire finally made her way to the caravan, her ears still ringing from the market. As she approached she saw new ponies, and she rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Sorry I took so long everyone. I'm Moonlight Fire," she introduced to everyone. The new pony seemed a little...off for some reason.

Fire walked towards driftwood up front, being very quiet and almost acting like what Lightning said never happened.

"We both found out that we've been sent here by something that's definitely connected. We both have something that has the same symbol on it."

Fire used her magic again to show driftwood her piece of cloth. 

"We were just discussing whether its something to do with command what we should do with it when we get to canterlot."

"I feel some of our companions may be masking their words. Some better than others." Said Bardic quietly. "To what end, I cannot say."

 

Why he felt the need to point this out to Driftwood out of all of them, he did not know: perhaps it was the ponies attitude: the way he seemed to state what was on his mind however bluntly it may sound.

"Our numbers have grown again in your absence, Zahrah." He nodded as the helpful mare returned. "Did you find everything you require?"

"Eventually, yes," Moonlight replied to Bardic. She realized these new comers WERE off. She glanced at the group. Were we really going to travel with them? She thought to herself. Moonlight shrugged and continued walking, or rather limping because of her knee.

I nodded, sighing. I then looked at the new pony and smiled. "Well, welcome back! Didya get all of your supplies for the trip?" I asked, feeling optimistic and as if nothing me and Fire said happened. I kind of wish it didn't... I thought to myself, sighing. "Didya get any weapons, anyways?"
