I lost my dad 5 years ago. That's the thing that still hurts me the most, and I'll never get over it. I just can't.

 

The thing that sucks even more is, in my family, there's one person per generation that dies way too young. My grandmother passed away at 42 from a heart attack. My dad passed at the age of 44.

I know your pain. I lost my dad as well... it was from cardiac arrest though.

It hurts me still, because he passed on Father's Day, 2009. He decided to take his life that day. The thing that makes it even worse, is that I could have prevented it.

My parents were divorced for a few years at that point, and I was going back to see my mother the day before, and then go see my dad again the next day for Father's Day. All I had to say was "no," and I could have prevented it. Instead, I went to see my mom, expected to see my dad the next day, and instead found out he hung himself.

 

God this hurts. I hate talking about my past because of how much it pains me to do so.
