So what is it that you do that requires typing so quickly?

 

Nothing, really. I've just challenged myself to be faster and faster over time. I'm an accountant so being faster with a 10-key would be more advantageous to me than a standard keyboard, though it is nice that I can type out a whole two paragraph email in a minute or two.

 

I think I got really fast in college when I ditched my paper notebooks for MS OneNote. I learned that I could type faster than I could write. So I took my laptop to class. Next thing I knew, I was doing phenomenally better because there weren't many points I missed.

 

So to answer your question, nothing currently requires me to type this fast. But college did require me to type that fast if I wanted to make the marks I expected of myself

So the party I went to tonight...It was at a casino. I thought, "While I'm here I'll play a few hands of blackjack. I like to play blackjack." So I went to the area that was the casino. All they had were slot machines. What the hell? Was I missing something? No. I don't do slots. 

 

Slots are a game of pure chance. 

 

Blackjack is a game of skill. Yes there is a lot of chance involved but there is a whole lot of skill too. You don't get good playing the slots. You can get good at blackjack. 

 

I was outtie. That casino sucked.

 

I mean, I don't expect to win at a casino, but at least you have a shot with blackjack (and poker...and really any card game). I'm not about to bet my hard earned cash on a game of chance.

 

And gambling isn't a bad thing when you keep it in perspective. Take what you plan to spend and spend no more. Consider it an entertainment expense and plan to lose all of what you take. Only gamble if all your bills are paid and you've got supplies to make it to your next paycheck. In other words, don't gamble what you can't afford to lose. But really, it's fun. As long as you have fun with it and don't bet away your life's savings, you can have a good time at the casino. I just prefer games of skill and strategy. Slots don't make me think. They don't challenge me mentally. Playing a hand of blackjack, I can choose to take that other card or sit on what I have. But anyway that's my two cents on gambling
